Thought I'd try using bitcoin to re-up my TER VIP for a year, last week.  My VIP expired the day after I made the bitcoin payment.  So far the payment processor has failed to acknowledge payment.  I do have the bitcoin transaction data indicating a successful transaction verification.  TER help is asking if the payment processor sent me an email.  No.  Not sure what next steps if payment processor can't keep track of transactions.

I've thought about going that route, but if it's a huge PITA or just doesn't work at all it would be nice to know.  Plus most of us wou,d see it as you TOFTT.

I been having trouble the last two times with cc. It being a foreign company stationed in the greek islands, cc company blocks the transfer. its a pain in the ass to get thru. the advice that was given to me when I posted it was get gift cards. I dont want to do bitcoin too risky and I'm sure cc would block it. I wish ter would come up with a better solution.

CoinbAse worked like charm for my Bitcoin transaction. You wait for a certain number of confirmations them voila!

TER re-upped my VIP status for another year.  I sent them the data I had on the bitcoin transaction (all bitcoin transactions are out there in the cloud and can be referenced if you know the transaction ID, the payer address, or the payee address.

I had a cashapp account for other reasons (sugar babes asked for payment that way.)  Cashapp allows you to buy bitcoin with regular money.  They also let you transfer it.  (I think paypal is also allowing you to buy and sell bitcoin, but not send it to anyone, sort of a waste.)  I did have trouble getting approved to transfer bitcoin in cashapp, though.  Had to send personal ID to the help desk and wait about two weeks for them to okay it.

After getting my ability to transfer bitcoin from cashapp, I got a personal bitcoin wallet, electrum, and transfered my bitcoin to my wallet.  I didn't want to send bitcoin from cashapp to any place because then cashapp could track my payments.

Once I had moved my bitcoin to my personal wallet (on my home PC) I was able to send the payment to TER.  Not sure why it got lost in their system but after I contacted TER help, my VIP status was updated.

There are other places to buy and transfer bitcoin, but since I haven't used them I can't say how well they work.

get a grip if it wants to keep paid VIP membership. If we have to to through all this trouble to pay it's just not worth it. There are alternatives! TER is just becoming too much trouble.

That's a lot of trouble to go through just for VIP membership here. Too much trouble.

There may be other reasons in the future to understand and use bitcoin.  In fact I also made another payment the same day as the TER payment.
