If I do my homework right I'll only be with a gal who's hot, sexy and has great skills. I am rarely disappointed.
With that said, as others have mentioned, if you do a little research you can usually get both

For starters there is a HUGE difference between beautiful and sexy. My opinion.
The most stunning physically beautiful woman I ever met in the hobby was head and shoulders and waist and hips and thighs and knees and ankles and toes the WORST experience I ever had in the hobby. Ok there were two more in the running but this gal absolutely takes the cake.
Why? There is more life in every morgue in America that what is running through this gals veins.

I am saying with full confidence I am not half bad and I think a part of that is I am pretty much more interested in giving pleasure than getting it. I definitely agree with London. There are some women who are pretty, but not actually drop dead gorgeous, that just have a certain intangible something that makes them incredibly sexy. It isn't something that you can actually identify and say that is what attracts you, but it is definitely there. It is like they are sending out an invisible signal that says "Please f*** me!"

However, I would concur that a stunning girl with a crappy attitude and lack of enthusiasm would kill the mood for me. An honest 9 "model material" in looks but she turned me very off by the end of a session. Now let look at a lady that on the second session made me forget it was a session the only lady to ever do that for a second. China is very average looking. I gave her a 6 in looks as there is no way I could honestly score her higher. She has a very limited menu limiting her TER score. She is one sexy woman. I was very hooked after one visit. To bad she is retired. I am still proud to call her friend.

Mind you, if you've seen my reviews, it's fairly obvious that I'm a freak. I've been lucky though, even though my choice of providers is a little limited, they've mostly been hot. some would be totally turned off by that. It is too subjective of a topic to have set guidelines as to what some men think is hot. You see threads about what kind of attire men prefer, ranging from sweats and a t-shirt, no make up and a pony tail to full on hooker heels, top of the line lingerie and fully made up.
The scope in-between these two looks is vast to say the least with many combinations that fit just as many tastes.
If she's a 10 in looks and a 1 in performance, I have no interest. Same thing if a girl is a 1 in looks and a 10 in performance (because I can get that for free by finding a chunky chick in a bar).
If you are talking about a 6 in looks and a 10 in performance vs. a 10 in looks and a 6 in performance, given my proclivity to DATY above all else, I'd take the 10 looks/6 performance.
But how much I'm giving up one for the other matters. 8 looks/10 performance I might take over a 10 looks/8 performance. Or maybe not.
It just depends.
Looks are definitely important. But I think the whole thing comes down to how far apart they are in looks and experience.
I've been with knockouts that have been good but not great lovers and ladies that are pretty (not knockouts) but are great lovers. It still depends on the degrees that we are talking about. It also depends on chemistry and your perception of beauty too. I saw one highly rated provider that just didn't do it for me. I was not in it from the beginning. I just didn't find her attractive.
As has been said by others though, with proper research you can get both.
Personality and skills are more important than gorgeous looks. To be frank with you, as I've gotten older, I've begun to see that women who I would have considered "average looking" while I was in my 20's are really much more attractive to me at age 50.
