I have not been "here" in quite a while - and I just have to say,  it's refreshing to visit the General board again -    I see that the conversations are a bit more substantive than when I last frequented this place,  and the general manner of discourse somewhat less contentious.  There seems to have been a shift in terms of frequent posters - I only recognize  two of the names (though perhaps they have been changed...)

so anyway -  greetings all -

and I'll be interested to see if the board in its wisdom and good graces can find a way to make this post into a train wreck of some sort -

Cheers

it's complicated -   work had me overseas for a while and whilst in country I sustained an injury to my right leg on the site of an old shrapnel and burn injury.  Still recovering after eight months.  I was running 10k a day before the injury and was hardly able to walk for six months.  Really gotten out of shape - put on 15lbs.   I'm working my way back into condition and now that I'm back in familiar territory will be seeking some female company on the rental plan again soon

I was out of commission for three years.
It's nice to get back in the saddle.

I dislike when people use the word cheers, when nobody is making a toast.

... it makes you sound like a goof. I'm not impressed, when people say it.

Wunderbar -  I would have been disappointed if there failed to be a bit of conflict over something  -  not bloody fond of the way Americans use English myself but I've gotten accustomed to it over a few decades -   Cheers :)

an even bigger Monkey House, with all the resident simians throwing their poo at each other.  Hell, I'm enough of a simian to have preferred it that way, when things were "run" by GaGambler and "someone who can no longer be named here."  At least you knew who you were dealing with and they'd actually 'splain to you how you fucked up so you didn't do it again.
And now for some gratuitous poo-flinging.
