I have a hard time watching movies where kids are

abused.

Slum Dog was a little rough, and Slingblade made me feel sick to my stomach.

I'll probably stick to the lighter side this summer.

"Two million women and children are being held in sexual servitude worldwide, and the easing of border restrictions and other trade barriers has exacerbated the problem, researchers say.

A recent report by DePaul University's International Human Rights Law Institute finds ... an estimated 30,000 die annually from abuse, torture, neglect and disease.

... The advent of globalization has exacerbated the problem by creating what some call market opportunities for traffickers in human beings and for their exploiters.

About half of those sold into servitude were sold internationally, the report said, but the countries to which they were taken do not consider them victims. Rather, they are considered illegal aliens subject to imprisonment and deportation.

"The victims have no one to turn to for help," the report found. "Law enforcers are frequently in collusion with the traffickers and exploiters and victims who seek to escape are returned to their captors by those from whom they sought protection. Their despondency and despair is beyond description."

The researchers said the victims often are addicted to drugs as a means of controlling them and forcing them to perform certain acts.

I realize that people have their reasons for choosing to become providers or hobbyists. The ladies who post here are overwhelmingly very bright, and so have other alternatives, and have freely chosen escorting as an occupation.

BUT -- for some lady to be abducted, forcibly addicted to drugs as a means of control and then SOLD into this country for $12k-$18k is an abomination.

THIS is a place where law enforcement needs to be heavily involved, IMO, and penalties for those trafficking in human beings should be incredibly severe. I'm thinking public hanging at a minimum.

Slavery is an institution almost as old as human kind. Wiping it out is very difficult; so countering it requires heavy duty penalties.

this is not in any way even in the same catagory as what we in this business do.
Thats slavery and not consented what so ever. They are children and not adults.
The two do not coexist in the same rhelm.
I  can't watch something like that personally and wish it was not lumped into the same catagory as what two consenting adults do.
This is pay for play, that is rape and victimizing of a child.

I'm not much of a movie kind of guy, anyway. I have too many other things to occupy my time. On the very rare occasion that I do watch a movie, I prefer to be entertained with a comedy, rather than watch something that will probably upset me.

so sad, unfortunately a reality but a very, very well done film.

Human traffickers deserve life sentences!

Has anyone seen the movie "Trade?". Where the 13 year old girl was sold for 30 thousand dol for her virginity?  The fact that this stuff really goes on makes me angry. Anyone caught or responsible for kidnapping other human beings esp children should get life sentences wo parole. I wish I could be dictator for one day...   LoL

one thing I cannot stand is when children are taken advantage of...I think I am going to make this my new cause...if anyone knows of that charity that helps exploited children  please pm me. TYVM

What does it say about the men who see these women...and don't try and convince me the guys have no clue...it's pretty obvious.

If no-one saw them there would be no reason to have them as sex slaves.

The movie was implausible propaganda aimed at vilifying the erotic entertainment industry.

Mostly they are put to work as farm laborers.

The institution of buying wives is very old, though still inexcusable in this day and age.

Just watched it on netflix...it's one of the movies you can watch instantly, so I watched it here on my computer.  Not a fun movie, but well done.
