I just saw this incredible movie. It is based on two kids who were abducted and forced into prostitution at age 7. Great cast. Very good acting but very disturbing. Anyone else seen this movie?
abused.
Slum Dog was a little rough, and Slingblade made me feel sick to my stomach.
I'll probably stick to the lighter side this summer.
I only hope that any lady I see, was never a child prostitute. Its one thing to choose this biz, it another to be forced into as a child or teenager.

... worldwide and within the United States. It affects all ethnic groups; though the mechanisms involved vary.
As one article pointed out: (Full article here: http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2001/4/23/184354.shtml)
"Two million women and children are being held in sexual servitude worldwide, and the easing of border restrictions and other trade barriers has exacerbated the problem, researchers say.
A recent report by DePaul University's International Human Rights Law Institute finds ... an estimated 30,000 die annually from abuse, torture, neglect and disease.
... The advent of globalization has exacerbated the problem by creating what some call market opportunities for traffickers in human beings and for their exploiters.
...
About half of those sold into servitude were sold internationally, the report said, but the countries to which they were taken do not consider them victims. Rather, they are considered illegal aliens subject to imprisonment and deportation.
"The victims have no one to turn to for help," the report found. "Law enforcers are frequently in collusion with the traffickers and exploiters and victims who seek to escape are returned to their captors by those from whom they sought protection. Their despondency and despair is beyond description."
The researchers said the victims often are addicted to drugs as a means of controlling them and forcing them to perform certain acts.
...
Among the other findings:
... About 50,000 Asian, Latin American and Eastern European women and children are trafficked into the United States for sexual exploitation, the going rate between $12,000 and $18,000 each."

I realize that people have their reasons for choosing to become providers or hobbyists. The ladies who post here are overwhelmingly very bright, and so have other alternatives, and have freely chosen escorting as an occupation.
BUT -- for some lady to be abducted, forcibly addicted to drugs as a means of control and then SOLD into this country for $12k-$18k is an abomination.
THIS is a place where law enforcement needs to be heavily involved, IMO, and penalties for those trafficking in human beings should be incredibly severe. I'm thinking public hanging at a minimum.
Slavery is an institution almost as old as human kind. Wiping it out is very difficult; so countering it requires heavy duty penalties.
I was in St. Augustine not to long ago and in the center of town stands the stage where slaves were bought and sold...We forget that this country was built on the backs of slaves. Whether it be slaves sold to plant, build or sex, humans will be dominated by other humans for exploitation. Yes the slave trade is going on, how much of it we see, is only a guess. But remember anything the media gets a hold of it turns into something MUCH bigger......
the part about "public hanging"
Do you have any idea how many death penalty convictions have been overturned because of DNA testing? The last time I checked the # was in the hundreds.
Our justice system is too flawed for that.
And after watching video of public executions I think we should be more civilized than that. It's extremely barbaric.
Very long prison terms, yes, death penalty? I am against it. It's way too expensive, and 1 is too many tainted convictions.
have never been societies I (or most of us, I would guess) would wish to belong to.
Let's face it, prosecutors lie, withhold exculpatory evidence and all kinds of stuff. They even send innocent people to prison in order to protect their informers and stuff.
In a world where I could be assured that the government was free of corruption, and the judiciary could really look at things without bias -- I would have no trouble with the death penalty for certain things. Unfortunately, as long as Western society has kept written records (and probably before) death penalties have been used as an instrument of state power to kill those who are inconvenient while true monsters run free. Yes, sometimes they get it right -- but I'd sure hate to be the guy on the wrong end of the noose when they get it wrong.
So -- you guys are right about the appropriate punishment. Our government shouldn't be allowed to do anything to people -- no matter what their supposed crime -- that cannot be undone. No killings, mutilation, etc.
Two journalists that were investigating female trafficking in Korea were arrested in March and just sentenced to 12 years hard labor.
I'd like to hear their story.
I'll include a link to wikipedia.
this is not in any way even in the same catagory as what we in this business do.
Thats slavery and not consented what so ever. They are children and not adults.
The two do not coexist in the same rhelm.
I can't watch something like that personally and wish it was not lumped into the same catagory as what two consenting adults do.
This is pay for play, that is rape and victimizing of a child.
you know escorts are more interesting than terrorists.
and the department of homeland security apparently thinks we're more dangerous too.
and I'm a cop ... I can choose to investigate Mr. Terrorist who just imported a load of fancy weapons from China that he shipped through Mexico ... OR I can investigate Anabangbang.
Which is more likely to leave me dead?
So -- I'll investigate Anabangbang. I'll make her seem like a real menace to society too, that way nobody will notice the fact I'm ignoring Mr. Terrorist.
i cant blame a guy for wanting to handcuff me while i'm naked, i just think i should be one getting paid for it and not him.
I'm not much of a movie kind of guy, anyway. I have too many other things to occupy my time. On the very rare occasion that I do watch a movie, I prefer to be entertained with a comedy, rather than watch something that will probably upset me.
so sad, unfortunately a reality but a very, very well done film.
Has anyone seen the movie "Trade?". Where the 13 year old girl was sold for 30 thousand dol for her virginity? The fact that this stuff really goes on makes me angry. Anyone caught or responsible for kidnapping other human beings esp children should get life sentences wo parole. I wish I could be dictator for one day... LoL
one thing I cannot stand is when children are taken advantage of...I think I am going to make this my new cause...if anyone knows of that charity that helps exploited children please pm me. TYVM
I probably could have stopped at "Oliver." I need not see any others.
What does it say about the men who see these women...and don't try and convince me the guys have no clue...it's pretty obvious.
If no-one saw them there would be no reason to have them as sex slaves.
The movie was implausible propaganda aimed at vilifying the erotic entertainment industry.
Mostly they are put to work as farm laborers.
The institution of buying wives is very old, though still inexcusable in this day and age.

Just watched it on netflix...it's one of the movies you can watch instantly, so I watched it here on my computer. Not a fun movie, but well done.
