Dear Providers:
My niece is a freshman college journalism student and is writing an article advocating for decriminalization. She wants to interview professionals in the industry to educate the public about the need for decriminalization and end the stereotypes and stigma of professionals such as yourself (it's just a little tiny school newspaper, lol). If you are open to having her interview you, please private message me.

Thanks!

Great question. She always asks me for advice when she does her HW, so when this topic came up, I casually mentioned that I know an activist who advocates for women's and sex workers' rights, and perhaps he could help. So hopefully, "he" comes through!

She IS doing an article on decriminalization of prostitution (not drugs, not murder, not point shaving in college sports, ...), right?
.
I'm not a Provider so I'm going to suggest starting on the SAFE public side of things: Have her check out groups like COYOTE:

Many of their officers and outspoken members are Providers.

Last year, ****Amnesty International,**** the largest human rights group in the world, came out with a recommendation that governments should decriminalize consensual sex work and develop laws that ensure workers are “protected from harm, exploitation and coercion.” A ****United Nations commission**** has also come out in support of legalizing prostitution. ..."

Does she plan on doing any investigative journalism and maybe doing some undercover work?  Let us know when she posts an ad.

Thanks so much!
Hmmm ... do you think this "college newspaper assignment" is just an excuse to talk to Providers and get their advice in order to fast track her entry into the biz?

There was an episode on Forensic Files several years back.  It started in similar fashion….a young psychology intern wanted to research escort services and providers to get an understanding….next thing that happened…you probably know….she became a provider….unfortunately it did not end well for her!

I watch "Forensic Files" frequently & have seen that episode several times.  It's titled "Deadly Knowledge" from season 5.

Your synopsis is accurate.  The woman became enamoured with the lifestyle she was investigating.  Unfortunately, she got personally involved with a repeat client with a shady past.  I recommend watching it if anyone here hasn't seen it before.
