That's one effect we can expect to see.
At least moderated posts will actually show up before moving to page 2, presumably.
INTRODUCTION:
Understandably there is some confusion about the current state of moderation on TER's discussion boards.
This post will serve to alleviate misunderstanding regarding moderation on TER's discussion boards and explain how a user may request to be unmoderated.
GENERAL INFO:
All users who desire to be unmoderated will need to send in a request. See below for information on how to request to be unmoderated.
For clarity, if you are moderated your posts do not immediately appear on the boards after you submit them. Instead, a moderated user's posts are reviewed by TER staff members and are then posted to the boards if those posts do not violate any board policies.
An unmoderated user's posts appear immediately after they are submitted.
An unmoderated user can and will be set back to moderated status if that user fails to adhere to TER's policies.
Any new user account that is created begins as moderated.
HOW TO REQUEST TO BE UNMODERATED:
To request to be unmoderated, please send a PM to your local board moderator requesting the change. In the Subject field for this PM type, "Unmoderation Request", followed by the name of the board on which you are most active. You do not need to type anything in the body of the PM.
Please do not PM requests for unmoderation to "TerSupport". Unmoderation requests should be sent to your local board moderator. The TER usernames of the board moderators are listed at the top of the individual boards.
Requesting unmoderation does not guarantee that you will be unmoderated. The final determination on who is unmoderated is being made by TER staff members.
As the number of users here at TER who would like to be unmoderated is significant, please allow us at most a few days to process the initial wave of requests. Once the core of the discussion boards users who should be unmoderated have been switched, the expected turnaround for future requests should settle to approximately 24 hours or less.

Maybe we can have the best of both worlds after all. Unmoderated status for those of us who have earned it, combined with quickly approved posts for those who have yet to prove themselves.
Kudos Staff.
This is good news. I may even behave myself
Who moderates the gd board, erotic humor, and the philly board? I assume the reviewers board remains unmoderated (please correct me if I am wrong.)

...since, so people can't post an innocent unmoderated post, then doube back & edit it & attack, or what ever, nice tweek in the system....
I think most people either edit their comments because of spelling or grammar errors (like me) or they realize they might have been too harsh and want to word something in a more pleasant manner.
So, you're saying the first time is better but then moderation for editing by the same person is okay? Strange.
Hugs,
Ciara
yes your right, most people do that...but it's always the few that spoils it for others, & i happen to know from a few moddies, that was a problem, so now fixed, anyhow, if you edit, it will only be 15 min., better than it was....
But what I was saying is that I have been able to post and have something go up right away, but when I go to edit it, the post completely disappears for awhile. Why wouldn't the first post be moderated, too? More than likely, people will be more abusive in their first rendition of something. I'm not arguing the matter at all, but it doesn't make sense so that is why I was asking, darlin'!
Hugs,
Ciara

I assuming the moderated are under the 15 minute rule but will we go back to the old days when the posts are dominated by the IM approach to a debate by the few who are unmoderated?
That's one effect we can expect to see.
At least moderated posts will actually show up before moving to page 2, presumably.
I consider it hijacking and will stop the tracks of a thread that go that way.
If someone wants to banter, they can go to the chat room or go PM.
In that case, I'll elect to stay moderated like Ally...Good Look DC
A peculiar definition of thread hijacking. I suspect most consider thread hijacking to be the changing the direction of the thread, sometimes without consideration of the original thread topic. Having back and forth discussion “on topic” generating new information is not threaded hijacking. By your rule you would not allow any follow-up response for public clarification and the addition of new information. Your rule is not TER policy and presumably limits the number of response to just one between two posters in any thread on any one issue. After each poster has responded once to each other you “will be to stop (in its) the track”. I suspect not, and it would be applied selectively especially on topic you are not well verse on. The hallmark of a good moderator is be unobtrusive, allows the free flow of information, treats all members equally and fairly, and enforces the board’s policy without abusing their powers by imposing new rules.
I define as a bantering back and forth in a track between members that really has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.
If any post furthers the topic or otherwise relates to it, I will, of course, let it stay if it is in compliance with the rules.
The caveat to that is when two posters stay on topic and engage in a "no its not" / "yes it is" type of back and forth through misunderstanding or disagreement, much like the one that obviously stuck in your craw. Then I will stop the track as it detracts from the thread and the board.
Picture the threads that look like a huge "w" sideways. That is what I hope to end, particularly when it involves hobbyist and provider flirting or the like.
Ok, I'll admit I am guilty of that on my local board from time to time. I guess I will have to keep it in check! Thanks for the heads up DC.

"To request to be unmoderated, please send a PM to your local board moderator"
We can't do this though normal email?
In other words, only those with current VIP status can be unmoderated?
Whenever I get the urge to say something fucked up, I remember that it will probably be sussed out by moderation and forget about it.
I will definitely not be asking to be unmoderated. The current system is a-ok now that I've gotten used to it.
: )
Please do not EVER un - moderate me on the General board-
I like it this way-
I'm truly confused as to the arguments pro and con. Guess I'll have to do some heavy contemplation on the matter. But thanks for the option.
This is a moderated forum in which flames and messages outside the forum topic will be deleted. Please do not post messages that are simply mean, or meant to cause trouble for trouble's sake.
I am not currently a VIP member, but I was previously un-moderated by a previous board moderator. Do I have to be a VIP member to be um-moderated?
But it's gonna cost you a beer, lol.
Please visit the attached link. It leads to a post that explains how to request to be unmoderated if you are not currently VIP.
I wish to be unmoderated I feel like a child minding my manners lol!!! Angela
It's all ok now......but it sure takes a while for the posts to go up
days are up?
I guess I am....I again tried to post my ad for Chicago today which is my 7th day and it's not shown up but when I look at the reason it's unknown....I've pm'd the moderator and no reply
I'm leaving I'm sure by the time it's either up or I get a answer I'll be in Detroit.
I know many of the mods take discression as to hours before the 7 day rule....and some could careless as I've seen ads for the same person on the same page....
I'm a bad girl anyone want to spank me? I'm in Chicago for those that want to....wink wink bad girl again.
xoxo

AS you can see people are not happy with the current moderator, it's not a new problem.

What are you going to do to resolve this issue?
Will this change the unfair practices of the past?
I sure hope so.
At least messages only take 15 minutes to appear now instead of 12 - 36 hours or more on many of the regional boards. That is all I ever expected.
Way to go!
I tried to post a message with my email address in it...it didn't show up, and I wrote it last night...will it not show up because of the email address, or what?
Did you check the "view my posts" option to see if it was disallowed for some reason. That seems to happen a lot lately.
Once you log in, go to the discussion boards where you posted, and over to the right there should be a button that says "view my posts" You can manage them all from there.
Thanks
I looked everywhere to find a name but came up empty handed.
Please o please TER gods of the internet
Can I please be acknowledged as having enough brains to know when something is appropriate to post or not?
UNMODERATE ME THANK YOU
