ED- Early Detection or ……..
We as gentlemen have some fears in our lives too. As we get older the hydraulics of our bodies seem to not work as well as they did when we were younger. There is some preventive measures that we can take as we journey through life to make our life’s travels a pleasant one. Men’s Health just put out an article, “ 9 Rules for Stronger Erections”. ( http://www.menshealth.com/mhlists/rules_for_erections/ )
Always consult a physician or health professional on medications on any health issue if you have any doubt.
With the hobby this is an important article with us gentlemen. With simple tips and concepts prevention can assist us and ED can stand for Early Detection instead of Erectile Dysfunction. Again Men’s Health utilizes experts in their respected disciplines as sources. One source is at the Cleveland Clinic, a urologist, Dr. J. Stephen Jones, M.D., F.A.C.S. His premise is that no penis is an island unto itself. It is connected to the rest of the body. So if it is having problems with blood flow maybe there is problems elsewhere. Perhaps a happy penis is a happy body too! If we never need to go to the pills for the hydraulic assist this gives us an added psychological boost as we leave our ladies with smiles too!
The 9 Rules
1. Eat Blackberry Jam on Your Toast
“Dark fruits like blackberries, bilberries, and elderberries and (yes my beloved blueberries are in this family) contain levels of anthocyanins, ultra powerful antioxidants that could act as erection insurance.” These chemicals have a reaction to lower nitric oxide in the blood helping things along. "Antioxidants help keep free radicals under control so nitric oxide can do its thing," says David Bell, Ph.D., the lead study author. And that "thing" is giving your penis the blood it needs to turn excitement into an erection.
2. Shut down the Smoke Stack
If you still smoke, try to quit. If you are under the age of 50 you can reverse the effects of smoking and help your Johnson and possibly reverse the effects. Just one smokeless day can help out."If men quit in their 50s or earlier, we can usually reverse the damage," says Andre Guay, M.D., director of the Lahey Clinic for Sexual Function, in Massachusetts. When Dr. Guay measured nighttime erections in 10 impotent smokers (average age 49), he noted a 40 percent improvement after just 1 smoke-free day. Swap the cancer sticks for fish sticks: Researchers at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland discovered that taurine, an amino acid found in fish, helps heal smoke-damaged arteries.
3. Become a More Sensitive Guy, ( Chill Out)
Stress will give you a cold shower and more adrenaline and that does no good for an erections. Heart racing and tensions are no match for you being hard in the arteries can leave you short in the shorts. Have some meditative time each day or time to relax, check out that new provider on the net some me time. "Obsessing on stressful thoughts will increase your epinephrine," says Jay Winner, M.D., author of Stress Management Made Simple. "On the other hand, if you focus on current sensations, it decreases the epinephrine and ultimately improves your ability to have an erection."
4. Stop Sawing Wood
If you want “Wood” you have to stop sawing it. If you snore you maybe depleting your body of needed oxygen including penile tissue. Remember everything is connected. Perhaps some bricks under the bedpost will help you elevate your head without bending the neck.
5. Eat Dark Chocolate
It is erection medicine. Dark chocolate contains epicatechins, flavonids that help the release of chemicals in the inner layer of the arteries. How much should gentlemen eat? ( I am having a piece now as I write this post) One study quoted in the article stated about 1.6 ounce per day. Make sure you look for the chocolate that has CocoaPro logo on it as this is an assurance of presence of flavonoids.
6. Lower your Estrogen
Calculate your body mass index BMI. If your BMI is close to or over 25 you could have some problems. Heavier men convert testosterone to estrogen and that lowers their T levels. I know this for a fact since I have lost considerable weight this year. My T levels jumped.
(“A higher level of estrogen are not good for erectile function," says Larry Lipshultz, M.D., a Men's Health advisor and chief of male reproductive medicine and surgery at Baylor college of medicine.
Fortunately, even moderate weight loss can rid you of excess estrogen and put your sex life back on track. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that one-third of clinically obese men—BMI 30 or higher—with erectile dysfunction showed improvement after losing 10 percent of their body weight.)
7. Get Pricked
Those who are have head problems that are psychological can get help acupuncture. Be not afraid that places are all located on the back. Feng shui for your underwear drawer. As study done stated that 64% that went through the treatment regained sexual function.
8. Build a stronger Floor.
Pretend that you have control problems and have to strengthen you PC muscles. You know the muscles that help you hold in your urine. The exercise is called Kegels. Doing Kegels will help you regain normal sexual function.
9. The Medicine Chest.
There are so many medicines that we take today and the side effects from them. This is where you doctor can assist you. According to a list gleaned from Men’s Health here are some of the medicines that can have an effect on raising the flag and saluting. Always consult a physician or health professional on medications on any health issue.
The article gives a link to a list of medicines that could cause problems with ED.
When all else fails; there is always the big three. There is Viagra, Cialis, or Levitra to stimulate the blood flow. The article goes on to the psychological advantages of priming the pump using these drugs and in some cases they are not needed all the time. I would like to think that through prevention and care we gents can help ourselves here.
Long ago there was a TV commercial that had a slogan" Should a Gentleman Offer A Lady A Tipperillo?" Now we know more about smoking and the tables have changed. Maybe it should be, "Should a lady offer a gentlemen a piece of dark chocolate?"
So let me see. I do not smoke, I have lost a considerable amount of weight, I eat dark chocolate, I am a mellow fellow, I do not snore, I really like blueberries, I do practice my Kegels and I do not have any mediations that is on the list. I am doing ok!! For my fellow gents on this board, check out the article.
