I have been working in Southern Louisiana this whole week.

I have a new Islamic coworker that is a chemical engineer from Dubai. He is an Arab who has been in America for just a few years now. He said that he has two wives back in the United Arab Emigrates since he can afford two at this point in his life financially. Those with more money are allowed to keep up to four wives if treating them all fairly.

He said he enjoyed the hobby often back in Dubai with many young and beautiful Eastern European women that travelled to Dubai to service the Arabs.

According to him, the cost for a comparable provider women in the US is about three times what he would ever have to pay in Dubai.

He asked me why the cost of the hobby is so high here.

My answers to him:

1. The hobby is illegal in the US and certain people must be paid off.
2. Fewer women sell their bodies for sex to hobbyists (supply and demand)
3. Rich US men have no problem throwing away expendable money
4. US providers are trying to live a "high end worldly life by providing" via selling their bodies versus other women in the world just trying tying to support themselves or feed their families.
Providers spending $1200 on a pair of JimmyCho shoes.
5. US women having to support their loser deadbeat "artist boyfriends that have a dream."

 
I am sure that there are some other reasons to justify the cost

1. The fact is, women here do have other options - maybe not as lucrative as escorting, but there are other avenues for women to make at least a semi-living wage. That's not necessarily true in other countries.

2. There is a middle class here, and they have money to spend on sex. There is an upper class here, and they have MORE money to spend on sex as well as more sophisticated desires.

So I'm calling bullshit on your entire premise.  Most reasonably classy escorts in Dubai and UAE charge $2000 - $3000 AED per hour for the locals.  At current exchange rates thats about $550 - $820 an hour USD.  In NYC and L.A., (probably the highest priced markets) the usual rate for high class ladies is $400 to $600 an hour.  Its long been held that escorting in the middle east is a lot more expensive, especially for tourist rates which are generally up to double the above rates, plus the tips to the drivers and concierges.  I'm not sure who your friend is seeing in Dubai, but if its the usual low class toothless hovel dweller you see then what you say is true only for you and your cheap ass friend.
