We use lots of different ways to screen. Depending on how active a poster someone is on TER, their handle and demeanor might be enough. They also needn't mention they're on TER, if they provide solid references and personal info. If that's the case, I wouldn't know they're on TER unless they'd told me.

Does anyone agree with me that providing your TER handle to providers and agencies is a bad idea? My reason behind this personal policy is that if an agency or provider ever got busted or their personal info ever fell into the wrong hands, not only would my relationship with that one provider be uncovered, but I would also be linked to many others.
Once I have given my personal info and solid references, why would a lady need more than that?

that non members can find user names just by searching reviews. If you have her link and you search it all of the ID's who wrote reviews show
up. You can't read the whole review but you can see the ID so how private is it?When you really think about it ANYONE can say he is you because of this.

But if you write all kinds of posts talking about specific acts that you claim to have done for money that could be considered illegal, yes, you are setting yourself up for problems should they trace your ID back to you.
That is why I am constantly amazed at hobbiests and providers alike who post such blatant ads and threads.
Unless you are some kind of super prostitution kingpin, LE will be satisfied with just busting you if you are caught.
I'm not sure there are any cases where clients got busted because of an agency bust. (In the Spitzer case, it was just the opposite.) Sometime harrassment enuses, but that's about it.
The best reason not to give out a TER handle to a provider is to remain annomynous on the boards from the point of view of writing reviews, etc. Many gals, however, will not see someone without knowing who they are on TER. Sometimes it's a plus if they know and like you from the boards.
Like most things in life, it cuts both ways.

I guess I would give my handle OR my personal info, but certainlt not both.
I also like being anonymous for the sake of being able to write objective reviews without having to worry about a provider contacting me about what I wrote.
My reviews are positive for the most part cause I try to do my homework, but anonymity allows me to say whatever I want.
I don't see how a lady or agency having your TER handle is going to get you in any more legal trouble than if they already have your real name or email...and that is very limited.
I avoid giving out my handle because I like to avoid possible drama. I have used it when I had to but I don't offer it up unless it is asked for.
over the past couple of years, all I have needed was my TER handle. It's far less of a potential problem than my real name, place of employment, etc.
It is very bad idea and creates lots of issues with your privacy. Moreover, if you write a bad review, you will be cricified.
I give my TER handle and that I am white listed.
The two issues as I understand them are:
1. Legal - But as was said, this is for "entertainment and is a work of fiction".
2. Will a Provider see you after they see how you review others.
If a Provider is used to getting 9's and 10's and she sees that someone only gives 7's, well then you know what won't happen... I am not going to get into who is right, 7 or 9. That is another topics like politics or religion. Everyone believes they are right. Enough said.

I'd rather give my ter handle, than my name and biz info. I can deal with any drama due to a weak review. And I'm not loosing any sleep over the possibility LE will know my handle.

I meet on my local board. I pm them, get to know them a little, and set up some time. I have no problem with it at all. Many only know my REAL first name, and not much more. I stay within the TER community exclusively now. It makes the comfort level for her and I much better. It takes all the muss and fuss, and divulging personal info almost totally out of the picture.
That $20 a month gets you a lot more than a peak at the nasty details of the reviews, you just need to take advantage of it!
QUITE well! Of course I can't get into the logistics of it, but let's just say my references and screenings have been painless. 
Your TER handle can be your keys to the Kingdom, if you use it right. It may take a year or more as a hobbyist to understand. For me, revealing my handle has been a positive thing when contacting the right people...and if you know how to hobby, you'll eventually understand...

First off, I do not recall the respondents indicating whether they had SO's or not along with their opinion. I do not have one (thank God), so I could care less about being secretive about my handle.
Secondly, these kinds of questions and the answers you get are sprinkled with paranoia about the legal issues of what if she gets caught, what if my user name gets out there by LE. Let me just say that I am absolutely positive that there is not a LE institution in the land that is coming after Smarty1101, because they see me posting on here, or that I wrote a review about fucking some girl for money (against the law oh my), without first seeing me do it, was involved in the deal first hand or STUNG me. Who cares? The girl have to worry about that not me. Include agencies in that worry forum as well.
I've used my handle since day one, when I had no reviews and was a newbie. I learned very quickly I do not want any stumbling block in trying to get dates, so I joined as lifetime member of two well known verification sites. Got some reviews under my belt and never looked back.
I cannot even remember the last time I was asked for my real name but most people know me by Mark, who cares, I don't. And I do not recall the last time I was screened.
Now all of my opinion is based on the fact that I am not married and have no SO and add to that I could give a rats ass about LE.
Debate all you want about on the merits of sharing your TER name with providers. I have in the past and will continue to do so. However, there is somethng to keep in mind ...
When the Desert Divas bust went down, LE was able to get the records. Not only did it have the clients name and contact information that was "leaked by mistake" to the press, but the lists included discussion board(s) screen names. No big deal, right? These are all works of fiction, right? Wrong! There were some hobbyists who got caught up in the mess and they weren't charged with solicitation (that's just a little misdemeanor), they were charged with a Class 6 Felony of "Pandering" because by writing reviews they "encouraged and aided" the girls to work! LE combined the review with the agency log and then the girl saying "Yeah, I met that guy" and they had the perfect Trifecta for a felony Pandering charge against the guy. Sure, I know ... that's total bullshit, but it is what it is and there are hobbyists who paid dearly for it.
Not trying to be "Chicken Little" and scare anyone, just wanted to share (a painfully expensive) experience.

I was privy to every single police report and court filings in Maricopa County. They only guys who got their tit in the ringer were the one's involved in quid pro quo (shame on them). What stupidity can they conjure up other than that? Not a single person went down for being a "Hobbyist" or by inference committed misdemeanors. NONE
You can be chicken little and that's okay. Just make sure you have all your facts straight. The sky is not falling here or on Phoenix.

That is certainly your prerogative but it must significantly limit your potential client pool. There are other very equivalent ways to screen.
There was another board where some providers insisted they would only see members of it. That led to some serious troubles because a person can be a member in good standing of a board yet be a jerk or worse in person. Had they checked more than a handle they might have avoided a lot of pain. In the same way there are very good clients who prefer not to post at all in public.
Your approach works for you but probably would not work for many others.
