"Meanwhile, the “adult entertainment” section of greenville.backpage.com (careful with link, NSFW), owned by Village Voice Media, has over 60 ads for the last 3 days, and about 250 in total. In sharp contrast with craigslist, many of these ads are quite explicit, quoting prices for specific sex acts, featuring close-ups of bare genitalia, etc."

Jim and Craig made a deal with the devil, and now the snake is biting them on the ass and they have the balls to be surprised, shocked and offended by this?

CL caved big time and they altered their site and got rid of  "erotic services" added "adult services" and doubled the price of an ad which to me makes this all seem like its more about the greenbacks then anything. They also took back that all money gained goes to charity thing....

Every Podunk dip-shit is gonna come out of the woodwork now- they should have taken a hard stand for free speech to begin with.

...and for backpage- they are a competitor with CL so that under the buss throwing is pretty transparent.

CL screening every adult post is going to cost big bucks...  so that's where a lot of the money will go.
Even if they completely remove every adult ad... from every on-line & print outlet...  Do they seriously think they'll stop the worlds oldest profession?  Give me a break!  Pay-for-play goes back beyond recorded history...
If they shut down CL adult ads (if they could), they'll just move on to the next biggest ad outlet.

Trust me on this there are works in the plans for classified ad sites to go over seas.

I've looked at the adult services in my area, just for curiosity (I would never use CL for the hobby).  The ads are still there.  Now there is just not the sexual language that there was before but the prostitution is still blatant.
