I'm not a doctor, so wondering what the general view is among hobby people: I've never done BBFS with a provider, b/c I've always thought that's way too risky. As a male receiving oral sex, the risk, while not zero, is very low. Nearly impossible to contract HIV. Herpes and certain human papiloma viruses are possible, but very unlikely. Gonorrhea is also very unlikely.
So, generally a low but not zero risk activity.

I have researched this extensively and even tho a doctor will always err on the side of caution and tell you to wear a rubber for oral, it is a very low percent. And there needs to be exchange of liquids or obvious sores. I bbbj but don't cim. Sure some guys may leak but most i have met don't. And I usually have no problem with guys honoring the cim. STD transmission rates are much, much lower from unprotected oral than from unprotected PIV sex.
Obviously, covered oral is even safer.
That being said, if we all are diligent about testing and maintaining our sexual health we are all safer. You can't transmit an infection if no one has one to begin with.
I personally accept what I see as a very small risk from unprotected oral (giving and receiving), and I get tested every 3 months to help ensure my sexual health.
There is no such thing as zero risk when it comes to sexual activity - there is only the risk we are willing (or unwilling) to accept.
