I think the spelling out of numbers & other tricks is to prevent software mining numbers. Same for e-mail. I don't know if this is still done but tellemarketers used to.
I have sold some items on CL & the scam people would hit me before the legit purchasers! skb
However, what they don't seem to realize is that it makes it VERY difficult to read. Geez, it reminds me of a some kind of word search...searching for the letters in between all of the symbols they use. I recommend having a pad of paper and pencil handy, while searching the CL ads. When you see a letter just jot it down and eventually you'll solve the puzzle.
One is so they don't get removed by CL. CL will remove ads (or CL readers will remove ads by flagging) if they contain certain keywords.
Two, and this is especially true of phone numbers spelled out as words, it makes it hard to search for similar ads. Certain agencies flood CL with fake pictures. By doing a search on the phone number it's easy to spot a B&S operation - they have tons a great looking women using the same number.
So they do not get flagged by CL and don't appear at all. Some just think they are being different and creative, but I find them annoying and childish when used to an extreme. When I see them on TER my first thought is NEXT.
I think the real reason is you have to pay now..Most of the old ads were posted over and over again by the same person.
One pimp = 30 posts which use to be free and now would cost$150 pretty expensive for one day I would say.
The same goes for independent providers who posted on there..They had to post more to be noticed between those 30 posts the pimp put up. Now one posted ad will do the trick.
I don't post on CL anymore but did a year ago..I know many ladies who stopped posting there long before the new rule came into play. I did notice a lot of the same faces from a year ago still posting there.
I recently received an e-mail on the e-mail address I used for CL from an advertising group that would post your ad every day for 25$ a month with no ID needed..I'm not jumping and think it could be a scam or LE trying to find out something about old accounts on CL.
