I just checked prices ... can get a 750ml bottle of Andre champagne for $4.   And a six pack (6x350 ml) Corona for $9.  

Not all sparkling wine is Champagne; the genuine article is that sparkling wine made in the region of France called (yep) Champagne! Sparkling wine from any other location is not Champagne, so the example cited above about the $4 "champagne" is not a valid comparison.

It's not just where that nasty shit comes from that disqualifies Andre from being actual "Champagne" Andre gets it's bubbles by injecting CO2 just like how they make soda pop as opposed to the natural effervescence that is created by the Méthode Champenoise which is the way REAL Champagne is made.

You can call non-french champagne sparkling wine, but that's just a bow to government enforced monopoly.

I get a kick out of wine snobs.  Blind taste tests consistently prove they can't tell the difference between an $8 bottle and an $80 bottle.  And yet they persist in telling us what refined palates they have.

I don't even need to taste it. You can just look at it and know it's crap. Real Champagne and all but the cheapest sparkling wines have "tiny bubbles" that are naturally produced via a process commonly called the "method de Champagne" Swill like Andre gets it's bubbles the same way that Coca Cola gets it's bubbles, by being injected with CO2. If you can't tell the difference between soda pop and Champagne then you simply have no taste and your opinion is about as worthwhile as a guy who tries to compare a $40 street walker to a "well reviewed TER provider"
