Oh my gosh!  Thanks for posting this wymenlover.

I just read that and came on to pay my respects to her.  I remember my dad had a ton of old mags that featured her.  My dad actually idolized her without shame and my mom sure didn't like it, but it definitely enfluenced me.  She was fearless and a true inspiration to freedom of expression!

Rest in peace Bettie!

I posted about her illness four days ago.

She died yesterday at age 85.

Why do we care?  She and Playboy Magazine (and of course the Pill) were large factors in bringing about the sexual revolution of the 1960's.

I included a nude photo of her with the last post since it was her nude photos that gave her fame. TER management deleted it.  Here is another image.

Many of her photos here:

Los Angeles Times:
"Bettie Page, the 1950s secretary-turned-model whose controverisal photographs helped set the stage for the 1960s sexual revolution, died on Dec. 11. She was 85."

She was a good person, and she felt she really wasn't doing anything wrong by posing nude. She was also a Christian and was vulnerable and -- unfortunately -- some took advantage of her. It's too bad that some people made her feel bad for what she did and she finally turned away from anything explicit.

Hugs,
Ciara

... is that we celebrate people after they are dead, not before, not enough anyway.

Au revoir, Bettie.  May the ground rest lightly...

I never knew that she actually posed nude, in the '50s! Of course, a lot of women did, but they were basically UTR.

Sorry I missed you Betty!
