With so many acronyms to talk about here, I am surprised so much time is wasted on disease and arrest. What is the compulsion? Does it give a sense of authority? Are these things the default topic when you can't think of anything else? Does imagining a sea of flaccid penis reading your messages turn you on?
If someone were really evangelical about those kinds of things, why not donate time at a hospital or shelter? Preach someplace where people might need or want your help. Or just post on their websites from wherever you are, just like here.
As far as I can tell, nobody here is dying of AIDS or been arrested. I don't see firsthand experiences that sound even remotely true in the posts here and I don't see it in the news anywhere. However, I do see members dying from suicide, cancer, car wrecks, etc. That is statistically well supported and announced without a lot of silly drama.
I'm sure somewhere, somehow, someone on TER has died of HIV at some time. I'm sure someone has been arrested for soliciting prostitution. Far more have gotten in trouble for taxes or speeding, I bet. Far more are going to die of a poor diet and lack of exercise. If the driving while using a cell phone does not kill them first.
Maybe those of you who are spreading the good word here are so successful, that's why no one ever gets arrested or gets STDs. In that case, please add lottery numbers to your daily tasks here. I need more money so I can help the world.
hobbyists caught in the act by their wives, who are forced to write those posts by their SO's, or, just as likely, "bible thumpers" who never hobbied at all, who just use LE & STD's as "strawmen" as a pretext to condemn the hobby.
Keep in mind, am STRONGLY against BBFS, however, when talking about HIV, the stats show in the U.S., female to male spread of that disease is exceedingly rare. Sill, when hobbyists & providers get together, condoms should ALWAYS be used to prevent STD spread.
As far as LE being mentioned, that doesn't bother me as much, because no such thing as being too paranoid in this biz ;everyone needs to "keep on the lookout".
Just because there's little mention on the boards of folks being busted, don't think that it doesn't happen. Many are too embarassed to admit that it occurred. Always good to keep one's
"eyes peeled".
I just find it odd that people enter into this hobby without knowing the basic risks or thinking others do not know. Odd that there needs to be a constant reminder that you might be arrested or might get the latest STD. It sort of like going to a bar and discovering alcohol is served there and needing to be reminded of liver disease and DUI arrests, with each daily return visit.
I would order the Shirley Temple, rather than continue the behavior that disturbs you so. But apparently, recanting the imagined horrors, while rarely real, is part of the fun for some people.
I know of people who have been arrested for prostitution and I buy the local arrest paper "Busted" and see pictures of guys arrested for soliciting all the time. Stings happen. I am close to a lady who is serving time for her third conviction for prostitution. LE is a real worry where I live. Others on this site have admitted to running into LE like our mod GaGambler.
As for STD, AIDS is not easily caught if you play safe but other STD like herpes are spreadable even if one covers up. I know someone who caught an STD from a provider. He caught Chlamydia. That hobbyist is me. And I always used a cover for FS. No, I don't know anyone who has got AIDS from hobbying but other STD are much more common. AIDS is just one of the scariest STD so it get talked about more than some of the more common ones like herpes.
I will admit other risks in the hobby like being outed or running into a dishonest and/or dangerous provider/client is much more likely. But to ignore the STD and LE risk in the hobby is foolish and careless. By the way I know of more people who got busted for paid fun than cheating on there taxes.

How many have been on a blind date and got lucky? Hiring a escort is no different than going on a blind date and should be treated as such. Spend some time together. Talk, watch some TV, listen to music, Dinner, etc. No discussion of sex was discussed with a blind date prior to your meeting, right? It should be no different with a escort. Don't ask, don't tell policies will protect all involved. Just let things happen like you would on a date. If either party should start asking question about money / acts etc. it is a red flag and you should politely leave. Those who insist on discussing sex or sexual services prior to, or during the date are exposing themselves to solicitation issues. Although advertising commercial services is protected free speech (i.e. menu's) I believe it does open the door to solicitation as it implies having a date with the escort could result in certain acts.
... don't induce "a sea of flaccid penises," I don't know WHAT WILL! LOL!
All joking aside, I personally KNOW three providers who got arrested in this business (and I "know of" countless more!) All of these ladies learned a very painful lesson about the necessity of screening potential clients. I'm also friends with several gay, HIV positive men in my personal life. Their infections were incured during rampant unsafe sex, some of it "pay4play."
You can kvetch about "fear-mongering" all you want, but seeing as how you have only, by your own admission, hobbyied TWICE... I'm unclear about why you have sought to appoint yourself as resident expert..?? A speeding ticket doesn't destroy your marriage, get you fired, or result in your children being taken away. It also doesn't put your life in jeopardy... or endanger the lives of your significant other or future children.
Hopefully we won't be seeing YOUR charming mug is the morning paper anytime soon!
NOT about gay male hobbyists coming down with HIV; the risks among that demographic is SUBSTANTIALLY higher than among heterosexual hobbyists. Once again, let me be clear---STRONGLY
against BBFS & condoms should always be used.
Other than that, your post was spot on----nice pics on your website, btw-----
and concerns of this community. If you think it's discussed to much, than next time you see a post on the subjects, just pass, don't open them up.
My point was that the OP might take these issues a little more seriously if he actually KNEW people whose lives had been directly affected by HIV and pay-4-pay related arrests. None of my provider friends offer BBFS- and thus I used the gay pay-4-play senario as the next closest example to explain why HIV infection is not just a faceless statistic to me. As far as "gay" vs "straight" hobbyists go- I know of multiple gay men who have MARRIED lovers, who are on the "down low" and live their lives as publically "STRAIGHT." There are MANY hobbyists on this site who see both trans woman AND bio women. If this site allowed reviews of gay male escorts you'd be forced to stop being so naive about the prevalence of BISEXUAL hobbyists. Just saying.
according to surveys, 1.8 % of men in the U.S. consder themselves bisexual. People often lie on such surveys, so I'm sure the figure is higher, &, of course, that would include bisexual hobbyists.
Still, statistics don't lie-----Heterosexual non- IV drug using males are FAR less likely to contract AIDS than gay/bisexual men.

though I lived in L.A. in the early 90's when Magic contracted HIV & the "rumor mill" stated that he engaged in "unsafe sex practices". Whether that's true or not, I can't say.
Be that as it may, I'm not stating it's impossible for female to hetero male HIV contact---tho, in the U.S.,it's exceedingly rare. Far more prevalent in 3rd world nations where STD's run rampant.
Goes without saying that it would behoove providers/hobbyists to always use condoms & be tested for STD's several times yearly.
Some do not.
honestly I'm a first timer on here and never had "service" with a provider or "spent time" with one,so I'm doing my research for someone that is Disease free and not LE..Those are my biggest concerns as how would I explain to my other half how I got this disease
Is is critical to know what is going on so you don't know if you going into an hornets nest to be busted by LE.
LE has more credibility than someone arrested during a prostitution trial. LE can lie and manipulate.
LE will arrest folks and/or bring other people in questioning to drum up charges on things they know nothing about.
Learn about your right to remain silent. Get a lawyer on retention. If you are in the hobby long enough you might get outed to LE or run into a situation where a provider is under surveillance, when you leave the incall LE will question you.
There have been situations where people have reported hobby activities because they are pissed off at the competition. Other times because it is people who notice foot traffic to incall.
Defense lawyers for prostitution cases are making record fees. Many times things don't go to court and things are settled out of court with the lawyer and LE.
We don't come here to talk about life the universe and everything. We come here to talk about the hobby. The two biggest scariest things related to the hobby are STDs and LE. Therefore they are incredibly COMMON topics for conversation.
If you're going to ask stupid questions you can also ask why alcoholism is a popular topic among drunkards and plane crashes is a popular topic among pilots.
