(I say historically, but I mean the past 5/10/15 years up to present). I've been seeing pretty huge percentage rate increases across the board, and hell, more power to the women out there if they're meeting demand, but some of the increases seem kind of outrageous.

a girlfriend launched her website. The local ladies (she lived in CA) told her she should never charge more than $300. So that's what she charged, but she was so overwhelmed with requests in a short time that she had to raise her rates.
I think $300 is still a lower average today.
I started as a dinner companion at three hours minimum, so I can't comment on averages except from my own experience.
900 for three hours of companionship . still used by some today in the new millennium .

I had this discussion with my assistant who comes from the Yellow pages era (like 20-30 years ago) prior to the boom of online advertisement. She mentioned that the rates in South Florida were anywhere from 300-400 depending but that she saw more extended dates being requested at the time. As you mentioned, bigger markets with gentlemen with a higher amount of disposable income, can probably afford the higher rates. Obviously smaller markets can't sustain the higher rates so the rates have to be within certain limits. Certainly, this world like everything else, is governed by supply and demand economics.
but by "further south" I mean places like Costa Rica, parts of Mexico, Panama and a few other places.
Ten years ago in both Costa Rica and Panama, overnight rates were about $100 US, now the going rate in Panama city is about $150 hr with overnights starting at about $500, San Jose Costa Rica is averaging $100 hr at place like the Del Rey with overnight starting at about $300 and in Jaco as Inicky will be happy to tell you the chicas are trying to hold out for $150 hr as well.
But if you want to go WAAAYYYY Back, my first time in TJ was Five bucks, there has definitely been some "pussy inflation" since then. lol
I have seen girls that were 200 go to 400, and girls that were already 400 change to more extended dates by simply keeping the rate or dropping off 100 and requiring a two or three hour minimum.
I have noticed agency rates stayed pretty constant within 50-100 dollars of what they charged years ago, but Indy providers have literally doubled their rates.
You said that rates were because women were meeting the demand, but in all reality it is most likely the highest priced work the least and have another form on income. When I was a provider I would have starved to death on this income alone, because I saw less than five guys a month. Part of it was because of my rate and the other part was because I simply did not want any more volume than that. I would assume the same can be said for the so called "outrageous" providers on the rate scale.
The going rate was usually just two bits for the room with one of Miss Kitty's hookers.
It was safe back then as Marshal Dillon and Festus made sure that no one got OTC. Well..except for Marshal Dillon.
Of course there was no Inet in those days...but Miss Kitty always had a nice selection.
Shit...now that I'm a really really really old man (and had to change my handle to CPA) these fucking pussy inflated rates are going to kill me

I just happened to be watching Family Guy, and they were spoofing an old Pepperidge Farms commercial. "Remember how you hit that pedestrian with your car in the crosswalk, and then you just drove away? Pepperidge Farms remembers. So now I find that I am saying that tag line to people for no apparent reason.
In the 1890's, Kitty Williams moved from San Francisco to Milwaukee, and worked in the brothels in that city. She saved her money and in a few years opened her own.

In 2001 in LA 300 was standard for a very attractive 25 year old and 400 got you a date with a premium girl and/or one who did anal. 600 or above was simply unheard of down here with the hoi polloi.
Prices in LA seemed to stay stable through 2007-8 when an occasional 500 reared its head. Some of those girls were with one agency i remember that routinely gave a discount to regulars. Even then there were lots of 300s to be had. New entrants from Eastern Europe seemed to keep a lid on things with lots of new girls at 250 to 300.
By 2011 500 started to look like a standard rate save for the K-girls who entered the market at 250 and stayed there. In the last year 600 in LA hardly seems to cause a stir and there are a number of girls commanding 7 and 8. Sure you can find gems at 3 or 4 but you have to really work at it. Many ladies have increased their rates by 1-200 just in the last year. One lady i know tripled her rate in less than 6 months.
Still i can't complain. The quality of the experience is much more predictable than it ever was and there are some truly amazing women available.
