i'm curious what the pay level for someone in this hobby is?  i make about 85,000 a year?  and spend about 600 a month on this hobby.for providers, are you willing to provide your annual salary?  curious as to what you make.

Joe2,Don't be disappointed if no one gives a reply with his or her compensation range.  That is a taboo subject in general despite the fact that we may discuss all kinds of things ranging from bestiality to failures of government and the dark and light sides of religion.  Of the impolite things to discuss sex, religion, and politics this board touches them all but “how much money a person makes” that one I would be surprised if anyone else touches.  JMT -- just my thought.--jp

Joe2,I'm curious about why this subject even fuels your curiosity enough to pose the question on the board.  I don't mean this as any kind of a flame, but are the other two posters responding thus far seem to feel the same as I about this topic...it's no one else's business but my own--not my friends, not my family (unmarried), & certainly not as part of a public forum such as this.  I might respond to a lot of questions, but never to any that concerned how much money I have, make, or spend on this hobby.

I think the question is fairly simple and straight forward.I don't spend regularly on this hobby - only about once every three or four months.  I indulged more often when I was travelling for work a lot.Until recently, I was pulling down a salary in the 90's.  [As a matter of fact, I just did my taxes and found out that I made a little more last year that I had originally thought.]Now that the company I was working for has gone bankrupt, I (needless to say) won't be doing much with this hobby for a while - at least until I get full-time work again.

I don't mind sharing that as a self employedindividual, my base pay starts at $0 and butcan be considerably more in good years.(sorry folks could not resist!)Lustman

didn't mean to offend anybody w/ this question but was curious whether people that engage in this hobby are somewhat wealthy, middleclass or making minimum wage?  i understand in casual conversation w/ friends/family it is impersonal and rude to ask people their salaries but this is a chat where no one really know one another unless you disclose to the providers or other people in this board your identity and your face.  if that is the case, then disclosing how much you make is nowhere as impersonal as disclosing your identity and name.i'm single, but i find it strange if the people that kind of "flamed" me on this question are married and don't want to disclose their pay, yet will disclose that they participate in this hobby.  you would cheat on your wife and tell everyone on the internet yet you feel its impersonal to provide your pay.  where is the logic in that????????

Joe2, It's not a matter of logic, it's a matter of personal comfort.  That my friend is each individuals right, and you have no right to question it, nor moralize it. There are many reasons why an individual would seek the services of a provider even when they have a SO.  That is between them and the reflection in the mirror they see everyday.  "Judge not lest thee be Judged".JMO, not a flame.G.P.S. My guess is that people feel revealing their salary are concerned that:1. Revealing their income may reveal their identity2. Revealing their income may attract unwanted attention from solictors on this board3. One or more of their regular providers follow this board, and they'd rather not have them know what their salary is because they are worried the providers will try to get more money (of course, if one simply didn't reveal their online ID, this wouldn't be a concern).4. Some of them don't make that much, and are embarrassed to reveal that they spend way too much on hobbying.5. Some of the notorious bargain hunters make a lot of money, and wouldn't want to be criticized for being cheap.My educated guess is that the average salary on this board is about $70,000 a year, and most customers spend between $400 and $1000 a month.

It seems you have discovered another glaring dichotomy in our social mores, Joe2. While we will discuss our intimate connections and bodily sectetions with each other on this board, our incomes are still taboo. I realized this several years ago in conversations with my best friend who is a tax accountant. I am a doctor and very aware of protecting patient confidentiality in converstions. When we would discuss how some mutual acquaintance was doing financially he would actually feel compelled to leave the room rather than participate in discussion regarding his client.    Think about it: In the past year how many people have seen your genitalia and how many have seen your 1099s?

why not, since you are not supposed to know who I am.  Now that I have done my taxes...Base, just over 6 figures.  With other income and benefits, my agi on paper drops from double that, to one and a half that to just somewhat over that over the last 3 tax years.But I am actually quite happy.  Have you seen recent newspaper stories?  A guy screwed up his stock options, lose everything and will never be able to pay irs for the rest of his life.  A senator worth somewhat less than a billion on paper, but end up owing millions.For me, some figures just appeared on paper, and some are never mine in the first place.  Rather than struggling to pay irs as in previous years, I ended up with a massive refund this year (due to capital loss?), good enough for making my own porn star calendar.But I don't budget for my "entertainment".  If I think about it too much, I probably will put most of it into 401 and ira.  Say last year, I just let my little head do the thinking and pile up on my margin account for all my entertainment needs.And I don't have anything particular to look for.  My good looking middle aged SO still got carded for a bottle of wine, sure thing.  She is OK, but she just don't like to put anything dirty in her mouth.  I don't get carded in supermarkets if I don't let my hair down, but the probability is high when I go to 7/11 or gas stations for cigarettes or beers.

You've got to be kidding with this question. Why in the hell would anyone tell you this and why would you post your own salary. Let's just say that we make enough to afford this hobby !!!!
