Yeah, I had the same experience I gave a provider a 7 and got a huge rant on how dare I give her a 7. I"m lucky I found an ATF now who is truly a 10. Plus she is nice.

Let me apologize in advance for the alias, but I don't want to cause undue harm to the lady in question.

I recently spent some time with a provider that has average appearance scores of 9.2 for the most recent 100 reviews, and 9.4 for the ones since '09.  I looked at her pictures, and got the green light from several guys.  Imagine my surprise when I was greeted at the door by a 6 to 7 in looks.  It turns out that she was sweet, and a good performer, but I would not have spent my hard earned cash this way, had the reviews keyed me in.

Each and every one of you guys owes me a fucking drink for letting me down with your easy grading.

I have to agree. Many times I will see very high appearance ratings that just seem too generous. But I wonder how often the rater's judgment is influenced by his concern that the lady may be able to figure out his identity by the details of the review. At times it is tough to be truly honest.

Ever heard of grading on a curve?  When guys get well fucked by a woman their visual acuity is affected and they start grading on a curve.

Thats why I always wait a few days before I do a review to let reality influence my review.  I am on a quest to do as many true 9's and 10's as I can - own personal type of "bucket list" so I am also counting on objectivity from all!

The problem is many of the low life graders never fucked a decent looking woman in their lives. Add to that the "mangina factor" where guys think their fuck sessions are romantic dates & you have a joke of a rating system.  You will learn to lower expectations drastically, and think you hit the lottery if the provider is not heavier than you.

BTW, wasn't Mr Magoo Blind ? So are most hobbyists! :-x

If you get a reputation as TER's equivalent of a Russian judge in figure skating, well, you might find it hard to get your phone calls returned.

I'm convinced that giving someone a 7 in appearance in LA is basically the equivalent of "you're fugly and you scare my dog", as far as a lot of ladies are concerned.

That's exactly why you don't trade your board ID for scores. What's the point of lying to them and to yourself. If you can't rate an 8 or higher, don't.

J_Beresford_Tipton361 reads

the definitions are very ambiguous.

for example, take the 10: "once in a lifetime"

whose lifetime?

mine in the civy world?
mine in the P4P world?
once in the lifetime of Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty or Brad Pitt? in their civy or P4P encounters?

without say a visual aid and perhaps visual aides for different body types, it's just going to be totally subjective.

in my application of the ratings i interpreted the definition of 10 are referring to a 10 in the _civy_ world and the best i've done there is not quite a 10. i guess i think there is still hope.

I recall Mathesar once posting that appearance and performance scores were HIGHLY correlated when he did statistical analysis... leading one to believe that they are heavily conflated (and thus not really the independent measure they pretend to be).

Add to that the fact that performance scores do not strictly relate to performance (in that certain activities increase your score, kind of like a quadruple axel, I guess), and TER ratings are kind of a mess, in my book. I'm much more interested in reviews than scores, in my book (and these days, more interested in meeting people and getting vibes first).

In order for me to make sense of of the ratings and the scores I do the following:

1) I have a few "gold standard" ladies I've met that whose reviews I use to set the scale.

2) There are other reviewers who have reviewed my "gold standard" ladies and written many reviews so I read their reviews to get an idea of their review style. These become my "gold standard" reviewers.

3) When I want to book with someone new I look for the reviews by my "gold standard" reviewers and if that fails I try to find some reviews by some reviewer that I can relate back to a "gold standard" lady.

Just going by the numbers without figuring what they mean for the lady in question is a recipe for disappointment.

J_Beresford_Tipton321 reads

The two scores are redundant. One could be droppped and the information content would not decrease.

I figured out there was a problem with grade inflation when I got my ass chewed out on my SECOND appointment with a lady for giving her an 8 appearance score.

Needless to say, there hasn't been a third appointment. Pity- I thought she was hot and the service was nice, but I don't need a diva telling me off in the middle of the session that I not only paid cash for, but was a repeat customer.

I think TER would be better without numbers anyway, now that it's all locked up behind the paywall. What I want from a review's pretty simple:

- Is the lady in the pictures the one who shows up?

- Are the pictures an accurate representation of the lady?

- What are the services provided, and in what manner?

- Would the gentleman reviewing repeat?

My experience is that I'm a hell of a lot more likely to repeat with a 7/9 (a pretty lady, if not model-gorgeous, but into the session and ready to rock my world) than a 9/7 (model looks, session's OK, services present but nothing special).

In the interest of full disclosure, let me say first that I believe I am generous with appearance scores. My experience in reading reviews indicates that some of us are generous with appearance scores and some of us are stingy. As it should be.

The story you relate puzzles me from a statistical point of view. With 100 reviews averaging 9.2, most statisticians would say that the generous and the stingy reviewers should have been sorted out for this provider’s appearance scores. The bell-shaped curve, in other words. A relatively large percentage of those 100 guys think this woman looks great, and you don’t.

I’ve had situations where I did not appreciate a provider as much as those who saw her before me. Accept and move on.

On balance, there are very few 9s and 10s in the database. It's truly a subjective part of the biz, you know, one man's oasis is another man's desert. Count on a good number to be solid 7s and 8s and be surprised when the pictures and the reality match.

"real life" - the pussy has the power!   If you're married the guy is always trying to figure out how to get the wife to put out.  If you're in a long term relationship....ditto.

I'll be the first to admit that women have gotten "screwed" by guys 'cause we basically have (had) more power in the business world.  We have traditionally made more money and women have used their sexuality to their advantage.  I'd do the same damn thing...can't blame them!

Personally, I'm not seeing too many women outside of my fav's and I haven't written a review in a long time.  I have only told a very few ladys my TER handle.   There is one lady who will read this that saw me because she said my reviews seemed fair.  That was a nice compliment, but now I'm past all that.

Women have the sexual advantage over us...so get over it.  The so called "manginas" will pass out higher than normal grades - nothing we can do to stop that.  The hard to please guys will probably be a little harsh and that's where we get the "she looked better than her previous reviews"...ditto.

Guys...let's face it and get over it.  We get to have sex with women that "in the real world" wouldn't fuck us at all.  Might not even look at us.  Worse...might call the police even if we said hi!!    We pay cash and they put out.  Duh.

I think TER is broken in this way - the woman looking to read the reviews of her after the hobbyist posts.  If he wants to gain entry into her again...the review better be what she expects.  If not....well, move on.  "We"..TER reviewers...have lost, in too many cases, our anonymity.  The ability for providers / hobbyists to connect identitys, is bad.

I may catch some heat from the gals on this post (obviously no alias) but it works two ways.   They need to protect their "business model" and that consists of looks, performance and other tangibles and intangibles.

In ending, keep saying to yourself all the time "the pussy has the power."

If I arrive expecting a 9 and see a 7, I turn out the lights or blow the candles, and do it in the dark.

I would expect appearance scores to look inflated--aren't you guys meeting with girls whose photos most closely match your personal preferences? Unless the photos are an inaccurate representation of the provider or you're intentionally meeting with someone who isn't really your type, they all ought to be 9s and 10s, no?

Appearance is THE most subjective thing to rate. I'm with those above who arent in favor of numbers in ratings. How ridiculous.

and that's just the way it is. Get over it.

IGNORE appearance scores. Hell - I wish TER would do away with them. They cause useless confilct, and more grief than anything else for provider and client alike.

The only useful thing a review can tell you with respect to appearance is whether her website pictures are honest and fairly represent the provider or not.

After that it's up to you to evaluate the pics for yourself.

As well, some guys essentially rate the body, or the face, or both together...

What I would propose is also problematic...

Eliminate the number scales for appearance and the descriptions of boobs. Instead, have pictures of body parts you can pick to represent the lady for overall figure, booty and boobs.

The real problem comes with rating facial appearance. I say we punt on that because no good can come of this one ;-)

Scores. Sometimes you can deduct three or four.
I have more of an interest in the performance scores because I trust my own eyesight. I do read the reviews for little pointers such as she was a little heavier, or not quite as described.

I need to know the menu I am looking at is accurate and her performance score is more important.

bupkis292 reads

and real honest to god 9s and 10s are very rare among providers. Yessir, I'd say deduct three points on average.

What we need is something like a slide rule, where civvy appearance scores could be measured against provider appearance scores.

Civvy 8 = Provider 10
Civvy 7 = Provider 9

etc etc

This means as much as you research the providers you need to find out who here you can trust in their reviews to be honest.  Again your mileage may vary.  LOL

the low ones really scare me,  can a woman really be that ugly?

I mean if you figure the average looks score is overstated by 2 points, wth, ladies with scores of 6 or under must mean you chew your own arm off just for looking at her webpage.

My 2 cents.  While I agree everyone has a look they like and might disagree with my choice, I will be honest in ratings.  The 1-10 scale means 5 is average. I dont know about the rest of you but average or better will work for me.  Even below average with above average performance works.  While I would allways be respectfull I agree that some of the 8,9,10 rated providers are not close.  If I choose to see them because of their perfornce rating I would be honest with review. If I was to get feedback on my review I  would explain the old "I calls em as I sees em".  I really dont believe that women are that self obsorbed that they think they are 8,9,10 when they are really 6,7,8 again above average, better than normal. Does that mean I am being unkind to them I dont think so. I am comfortable in my skin 5 average, normal. If someone has a different opinion on that I dont take offense and neither should a provider. They would still have my money.

Appearance grades are difficult because: 1.) they are completely subjective and 2.) familiarity alters perception.  I've encountered women who at first glance were not nearly as attractive to me as they became once I got to know them and experience their personality.

did you look at her pics?  I don't go by scores by other hobbyists other than as a filter in the review search.

Performance scores are a different story.  That is why VIP is so necessary and even then, guys can sometimes embelish the date.

Actually I think 5 choices is probably a better gauge.

1 - Redefines ugly (5%)
2 - Below Average (20%)
3 - Average (50%)
4 - Above Average (20%)
5 - Wow (5%)

Anything more detailed is better served with just a written explanation.  Most women are average, hence the word average.  Deviation above and below is really the only thing worthy of note.  A girl who is "plain" is just on the low end of the (3) scale and a girl who is "cute" is just on the high end of the (3) scale.

Having a scale of 10 makes people want to rate cute girls higher than the (6) that they are since they are appealing.  The problem is there is simply no good measure of the difference between a 6,7 or even 8 at times.

I think a scale of 5 choices is more than enough given the personal nature of the decision.  Rating a girl a 3 would not feel as bad a rating her a 6 even though mathematically they are the same.

Some seem to think that this system is very simple and cut-and-dry.  These people seem to be those who cannot appreciate or understand that beauty is subjective.

I cannot be reduced to a set of numbers.  To my ex-boyfriend, I was (and still am - I tried to maintain a friendship with him, but he couldn't keep his hands off of me) a 10.  However, judged against the narrow American standard of beauty, that is quite certainly not the case.

This is life.  These guys did not 'let you down' and it is ridiculous that you'd even think to blame them.  Reviews are NOT a guarantee.  I am confident that the majority of this girl's reviews were HONEST.  To THESE men, she was a 9 or a 10.  To YOU, she may not be.  That is no one's fault; it is simply how the chips fell.  Beauty is utterly subjective, darling.  You cannot cram the whole enchilada into the box of your choice.
