If you are married, make sure you log off the hobby email and never save passwords. Yesterday, i got an angry email from somebody's wife. I guess his second half somehow got hold of his email communications. I feel bad for this person. The email was also really offensive and demeaning to me and ruined my mood. So PLEASE BE SMART if you are in the hobby and need to be discreet, or it causes headache for everybody.

I think the real challenge lies in dealing with the SO on a daily basis. Subtle changes in attitude and demeanor can send out an immediate red flag. Sudden unexplained disappearances? Unanswered calls/texts? A lot of this is common sense too, but requires a great deal more skill than the technical side which can easily be learned by anyone.

Many guys do take precautions but sometimes they make a mistake or forget something ... like to log out of an account or a browser.  The old, weak link!

The next time an aggrieved wife calls you up to bitch about you messing with her man, break down in tears and claim that he told you he wasn't married and that he was going to marry you, etc., etc.

If you are using log-in passwords for your hobby or email sites, there is a risk they might be saved on a public pc or intercepted in public wifi, I think but am not certain.  On related topic, some guys in the past mentioned that some hotels monitor any use of hobby sites on their wifi.

My SO has her own laptop...  I gifted her the first one...   I never turn over a running computer even if I have to accidentally Ooops it.   I have it set to not auto fill, & delete brousing history on shut down.  I run CC cleaner, Malware Bytes, Antivirus often.

I am a security NUT!  I run CCleaner when I open, run it and update it at lunch, and run it again when I close my computer at night -- this cleans out all passwords and any info accidently stored.  I also run AVast virus scan LIVE throughout the day along with Malwarebytes, plus some other proprietary "stuff" that I prefer to keep private.  I have a system so all of my passwords vary from one one account to the next, and even the required "hints" which are not helpful to anyone who might know what should seem to be the answers.  (EX:  The hint might be "Favorite pets name?"  But the answer might be "Rover7#" instead of merely "Rover".  Not only do I not get viruses, I do not have much worry about my SO accidentally tripping over my hobby unless I do something REALLY stupid.  (And, NO, Mike is NOT my real name... though I have an entirely fictitious life built for Mike including Facebook and LinkedIn pages, plus some other goodies if I never need to provide ID, just in case.  LOL)  

Today, one of the ladies who whitelisted me has officially disappeared from TER. I've been waiting for it to happen for several weeks, ever since I get a PM from someone who must have been her boyfriend, but had no idea what she was doing.
