the diamond merchants... is the football team that crunched the philly Eagles... I've lots of theories on that one... but I'll skip over it...
Meanwhile the Phillys had a spectacular win to clinch their National League East division winner slot... just spectacular... it was a good year for them... and my hope is that they will go all the way to win the World Series....
That possibly could get me otta my slump...
Alas... the last time the fighin phils were doing that good - I met a lass... Jules Jericho - porn star... during a game involving the Boston Red Sox... (the Phills were eliminated in the pennant playoffs... but I kept watching anyway) I miss that lady...
Really man! What's with these chicks posting about sports? "Steelers beating Chargers in a close one last night?" Doh!!!! LOL!!! Anyone who thinks they KNOW who'll win the National League pennant at this point is dillusional. I mean the only guarantee we have in sports is that the Dallas Cowboys are gonna massacre the Washington Redsk... Oh, wait a minute. That didn't work out did it?
I've liked the team the Phillies have the past few years (even if I hate the park)! They seem to underachieve every year, hopefully this year will be better.
They beat my favorite team the Kansas City Royals in the early 1980's, I think,to win the World Series. Is that the last time they won the series? I don't follow baseball very closely anymore and the Royals have sucked for many years now. They had some good teams in the 70's and 80's however. I was very dissapointed when we lost to the Phillies!
The grim facts are these: The Phillies have the worst record of any professional team playing for at least thirty years in any major American sport. They are the first professional team in the World to lose 10,000 games. I don't know how they are going to do during this post season, but --we are not gloating-- we just feel we deserve a little happiness.
Wow, I had no idea! The Royals won 75 games this year. I believe it's the first year they have lost less than 90 in quite a few years.
Given the Phillies history and since I have no allegiance to any teams in the post season I will lend my moral support to the Phillies to win the World Series. Not sure that will help the cause much though
Of course to know real tragedy, you had to be a Brooklyn Dodger fan like me. I lived through the Bobby Thompson home run, the losses to the Yankees, finally the 1955 World Series only to be betrayed by Walter O'Malley, a man surpassed in 20th century villainy only by Hitler and Stalin, who took the team to LA. After a long odessy, I ended up here to root for the Phillies with the history I outlined above.
Get pissed off? Nah. To Philly fans (particularly one who grew up a Brooklyn fan and moved to Philadelphia) there would have to be disappointment to be anger. It is impossible for us to be disappointed; being let down is what we expect.
