I'm in a fight with Verizon over this very issue. I have two nieces who are on my calling plan, and both of them have unlimited text messaging as well. They both send upward of 2,000 messages a month (I guess they don't sleep). Every month I keep getting these charges for "premium" text messages, and every month I call Verizon and yell at them. No one can even give me an explanation of what a "premium" text message is. This article is the first insight into where these charges are coming from. A few dollars is one thing, but I can't even imagine getting a bill like this one. Good info for me though. LOL time for another call to Verizon now that I at least know what a "premium" message is.

Thanks for posting this message! You might have just spared me a similar fate!

Isn't that just typical.

See, so you guys are really getting a great deal here on TER - you could be paying "hundreds of dollars a day" to text fat chicks, and here you can find anything you want!

Giggle,
TS Jamie :-)

is I.

"Hey babe, what ya wearing?"

"Oooh, that sounds so sexy."

"You're such a hot babe."

"Tell your parents we need to study together."

How else do you think I can afford this hobby?

They don't pay me that well to sit here and post on these boards all day you know.

(just kidding folk :o)

My daughter went through this when she signed up for something like this, where she got a text message every day.

The hard part was unsubscribing -- we couldn't call Verizon to get off it, and they completely washed their hands of it.  They said it wasn't their service, so it wasn't their problem.  It was almost impossible to get in contact with the company that was sending her the text messages to tell them to cancel -- there was no phone number or anything other way to contact them.  I really think they made it difficult on purpose.  When we finally did get ahold of them (in India), they gave us the runaround.  We pointed out that my daughter was 16 at the time, and that she wasn't old enough to authorize this, but that fell on deaf ears.

Yes, I can believe your nieces sent 2000 messages a month.  I had two teenage daughters, and it amazed me how many messages they could send in a month.  I'm surprised their thumbs didn't fall off.
