"Caller ID" App (that can "apparently" track your location????).
I'm still goofing around with it, however it APPEARS---this thing is providing the Physical Location of where the person is calling from. I've emailed friends that called me today, asking where you XYZ location earlier today. (Yet to hear back).

In the Android Store.
One that scared me---gave me my girl--friends address down to the *HOUSE*--however, noticed she has her address on her FB--so might have pulled off that.
*HOWEVER*--Just looked up another one/Provider. This is *REALLY "Scary" There's a few (one particular) Providers I know personally talk often (i.know real name, little more than usual). However, we (almost) always talk/text on her PROVIDER Phone number---Never asked for her home address--however this thing is giving it to me. (pretty sure it's a Metro PCS phone). Where *THAT* is pulling from---God only knows..Cause we're not"Friends" on Facebook (so not pulling from there).
AND, even more Bizarre, I guess her "real" cell phone she calls me on. Has not found anything yet. (different area code...might be why???????).
The "Land Lines" make sense. It's *DEFINITELY* pulling an address from Somewhere (to match with that Phone Number)--Land Line for sure. Have an ENDO appt. Thursday. They called today to remind/confirm. The contact shows up with the address. (I sure as heck never entered it).
Another "scary" example. Poor lady *grin*. There's some elderly Lady that's called my number 2-3 times over the least 6-8ish weeks. Each time she calls, she's really sweet, leaves message, says I'm so sorry, I dialed the wrong number, please accept my apology. Thanks *HOWEVER* (looking in the history of my past calls/in and outbound--saw her name--Tapped it--Gives me directions DIRECT to her house (she lives in FL though... I'm GA). And *NOT* a stalker. *grin*
Also, (still waiting to hear back from my friend)---to see if this App can detect you while you're moving.
He lives in Dallas, TX---when I did the world Globe to "find him"---it zeroed down to a street level..will be *VERY CURIOUS* to see if he was at that was a "true location"
I've noticed several, if does not know the location--Will simply have "Atlanta, GA"--My *LEGIT*...*grin*---married/NO HE Masseuse, lives about 1000-feet from me. It can't find her .
Who knows, maybe this thing has to "download data" (Or is as we speak--"searching" to populate more data). ??????
**********************************
My point in all this? *BE CAREFUL*--As a "techie guy"--I know it's possible to install an APP ONTO someone's phone (if you have physical access to the phone) to track them. (and they are not aware it's on the phone)--Usually used in Divorce, etc. (or if you have kids/want to track them/know they are where they say they are. *grin*).
In a nutshell ladies, be very careful---Obviously I'm not a Troll I found out about it reading Time Magazine.
however, when my friend calls me back, if he says "Yeah, I was in that area earlier today"---will REALLY be worrisome (thus by definition--WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION---I'm able to track him)--NOT GOOD!

Last I checked, most hookers and hobbyists were not the freaking CIA. I don't list any number on the net and only provide a google voice at that, and it changes every 4 months. Anyone dumb enough to give out a number registered in their real name, deserves the fall out. Just saying. Hobby phone were invented for a reason, and the average person can't track them because no real info is used to buy them.

@London Rayne
This is not "CIA" stuff--this is stuff a 12-year old kid can install (my point)
Another post---I gave *THE EXACT* advice you did (Great advice you gave).
I'm not saying you gotta use it. By the way, have no idea how long you've been doing this.
The provider I know is *NOT* a rookie---not even close. Heck, when I told her about the VIN ID issue. She knew about it (only female I've told that knew about it).
I shared, because I care about the well being of Providers. Whenever I read a provider is harmed, does ache my heart. Just like that $!@#$^R in Boston. The "scary" thing is, the Ted Bundy's-whatever dude's name in Boston--the good looking guys more likely given a pass.
I know ZIP--NOTHING about TELCO (cell phones, etc).-- I studied "information Security"
However, the "Hard Core" geeks I know (swear it's true)--I do know a Bill was passed in congress/signed by President outlawing the practice (again, makes sense to think it is indeed true if they passed a bill. using Software to Track people via Cell Towers.
Regardless if you have GPS tracking on or not. The Cell phone simply has to be "on". As I'm sure you know, your phone always "Pings" as you drive around, pass each tower.
Geeks SWEAR it's true.
Cell Phone tower Location Data is Freely Available--just one website example
http://www.cellreception.com/towers/towers.php?city=atlanta&state_abr=ga
Where ever you travel, your phone is always "Pinging" Software that uses many different databases to pull together a program called a "Mash Up"
Is knowing this information--supposed to keep you up at night. of course not. Is knowing this information cause you Anxiety. Of course not. All I'm saying is that it use to be you had to be a "Google Power User"--to dig for information. Now that I can install an app, that as 12-year old would know how to use---Probably wise to know "It's out there" I only wanted people to know its out there....
Bi use Google voice too. However, when provider calls back (have it past 3-months on my cell phone)--usually a Metro PCS type phone. I would have thought *NO WAY* this person could have name/address tied to it. It does.
As for Google Voice, my "hunch"--things i read, etc. It's gonna be a paid service soon. (how much, don't know) However, Google hassles me all the time to provide my real name (why I won't do G+--and this app--wanting me to turn on the Lat/Long for my cell phone so friends now where I am--um NO THANK YOU.
I honestly wish you peace and safety everyday!
Pease
it has to be at a static location lol. You are talking about people with phone contracts in their real names, that have a way to track them...I am not, but yes, well aware of how a phone's info can be traced back to you.
Most guys toss them every few months. Most every guy here and girl for that matter should not be using any device that is registered in their real name, real address, or on a credit card, but I suppose you can't fix stupid. I don't use an 800 dollar phone for the hobby...I use a 20 dollar one and my number I give out is a google voice.
There are guys who have been doing this for 30 years, who have not been tracked, because you are correct...this IS information most any 12 year old already knows. Most do not post from a home or work computer when contacting providers, but from a location such as a hotel or cafe. Most don't even give out their TER handle, much less a phone number that is registered to them.
You are talking about some App that can ONLY track certain people using a specific device, not every device on the planet. Hell even a reverse email lookup can find some moron dumb enough to use his hobby email or number with his facebook account. It's rather easy.
FYI about Google Voice...the lines sometimes cross and other people with that same number can read and reply to your conversations...that is what is really scary.

WTF????
Are you saying google voice gives out the same number to different users?????? How can they do that????
Now that's scary!!!!!!! I can't imagine that you are correct with that information, cuz I dont see how it is possible for ppl to not realize someone else has the same number as they wud be getting someone else's calls, unless u are talking about same number but dif area code, but then still how can??????
I'm confused with your statement......

It is a paid service if you aren't forwarding it to a device or using it for international calls otherwise I believe they're gonna keep the existing accounts free for quite awhile.
Another little tidbit I noticed is when you get a new cell number it still shows up in the former person's name for about 3 months when someone is looking. During screening early on, I had issues with this. I had say "John Smith" tell me this is his number that was registered in his name, and when I did a search some woman came up. He called the carrier and they said eventually it would start showing his name, but it certainly caused a lot of red flags for me thinking these guys were lying until we dug deeper.
1. Disable GPS/location services on your phone
2. Set a password to download apps so people can't download it onto your phone
3. or use a really old phone that doesn't have app capabilities.
What should I do?
A friend of mine just found out that her long distance BF has been cyber stalking her...This app was but one way he accomplished this. I am not 100 percent sure how it works, and if you need the other device to start it off. but it does pinpoint your location.
I'm still goofing around with it, however it APPEARS---this thing is providing the Physical Location of where the person is calling from. I've emailed friends that called me today, asking where you XYZ location earlier today. (Yet to hear back).

I wouldn't run it. One possible way it might get some of those unlisted numbers is if someone calls you, and you have that person in your contacts - nothing to stop the app from sending your contact details so they have the number and address in their database.
Buying a phone with cash still means there is nothing to look up unless you give someone an address and that phone number.
I live under an assumed name & don't have anything hobby related in my name either. No land line no real Facebook.
and emails, completely. dont know if it does phone calls too.
it's like mission impossible. you can make message "self destruct" in a specified time frame. there is no history of it at all even cell phone companies cant store it in their databases.
the story was on the radio and I didnt get all info so...not 100% certain of the details
Remember, we are in the age where everything can be tracked and pinpointed. Why should cell phones be any different?
If you really are worried about this, then you need to go outside, go to a different location, and make your calls there.
But to me, that's just crazy. I have nothing to hide, and even if someone knew my address...good luck, as there are several other hundred people who live in the same building.
Right?

Can this type of app be downloaded on to a cell phone remotely or would
You have to have actual possesion of the phone to download it?
How likely is it that someone i dont know or some one i would not want tracking me me able to use it to track my where abouts?
Most don’t and others don’t know how.
If you have an iPhone and iPas, you will be able to turn on/off Location Services for each application. You should any way, increases your battery life. Just got settings and privacy you will see listing of all applications using location services.
Ladies please be careful of This site. They scoop your name, number and post it on their site. This site is owned by a former cop. Do not pay to have your name removed because what they are doing is similar to. This other blackmail site www.stdcarieers.com
Those are mug shots, not just random photos. They pull them from arrest records and public newspapers lol.
My phone is registered under someone else. ![]()
