Well first off...No I haven't chatted with anyone yet but am ready for the first taker.

I have put many of my Favs on my pals list...Yes Terrev I did get your message last night and you just happened to slip in on my test run...You are now added to my list and hope we do get to chat sometime soon

Now for the test and results ;-)

First I opened up messenger for a couple hours but was busy doing things around the house. I had 25 IMs which I broke down after checking their screen names. Heres how it went

3 were members with many reviews and posters on the board...You ranked top on my list Terrev

The rest..all 23 had no posts or reviews on TER that I could find

Very disappointing results as this shows what traffic is going to our new perk on TER.

I do hope more people who love to post love to chat as well. There is a way to multi-task the system but it does take time. I open up TER messenger in one window then I go back and open up TER on another window. Now I switch back and forth to check who wants to chat with me. New 24 inch monitor on my wish list comming soon.

I wish we had an open chat with private rooms for more intimate conversations.

OK add your 2 cents now

Kisses Haley

It works with Microsoft, but I could not get it to work with OS X 10.5.5 (Apple). It runs ok on Parallels desktop on OS X 10.5.5 though.

that you can put a TER online status banner on your website?????  Each providers link is different and linked directly to her id number. I put it on my website and it's pretty cool.  But, for it to work, you have to be logged into TER Messenger.   If you are on TER Messenger and some nice gentleman is visiting your website, they can click on the banner and it takes them to TER where they would need to log in to chat with you.

been able to have any chats with anyone.

I am online quite a lot, so if you want to try messenger, feel free to drop me a line, and let's see if we can get it working.

I have been getting contacted like yourself Haley mostly by people who do not post. I wonder if the lurkers feel more comfortable without the public service announcement of the boards. It does take more to establish who they are etc if they aren't active members who post on the boards.
I do wonder how they see me on is it only where my reviews are that the online status appears? Not sure but I like the idea. Have a great day Kendall

It seems like at least one "lurker" ought to respond to your post, Haley.

I am a member of many message boards regarding a variety of different subject, and rarely post on most of them unless I feel I have something unique or important to say.  I'm a shy guy, and don't normally feel that comfortable speaking to a crowd.  I also don't hold loud cell phone conversations in public, or have personal discussions at ballgames.  I'm not dissing people who do, they just have a different comfort level.

On the other hand, though relatively new to the hobby I am working hard to develop credibility with providers.  I have submitted one review which - hey - just got posted.  Cool!  I am signed up with two verification services and will ask to be whitelisted by every provider I have seen, after making sure I earn it.

I guess the point I'm trying to suggest is, non-participant doesn't necessarily equate to someone you don't want to know.

I have tried a couple times to use the chat, without success so far.  Possibly that's because my computer runs on Linux.  (Hey, it's better security than clearing your browsing history.  The wife and kids don't want to know about another operating system so they don't even try to use my desktop.)  If I can get it working, there is something a little less intimidating about a live chat, as compared to putting your words out there for all the world to see and comment upon.  I strongly agree, however, that it would be great to be able to move to a private chat room.

As this is my first post, and will be moderated, I suppose it won't appear until this topic is stale and off the front page.  Still, thought I would offer up the alternative view.
