Hi Everyone,I know that Memorial Weekend is coming to a close but I wanted to elaborate on a few thoughts that I didn't touch upon on on my post a few threads down.I saw Pearl Harbor twice this weekend.  Even though it was more of a movie than a documentary but that is Hollywood.  I am just glad that there was a major motion picture this year to remind us of what this holiday represents.Earlier today my oldest daughter wanted me to help her get pictures of the Holocaust from the net for a paper she is suppose to write.  She was frustrated because she didn't know exactly what her teacher wanted so I started downloading all of these pics and she didn't want them for fear that they wouldn't fit in to her paper.  So I had to sit down with her and explain what the Holocaust was really about.  It helped because I just watched Anne Frank's diary a couple of nights ago. I don't know what I am trying to get at but WE are very lucky to have those who have gone before us to insure our freedom.  Also think of the Third World countries where people are starving to death or women are being oppressed in the worst ways today.I feel so lucky to have been born into a time and a country that cares.  I know our country is not perfect but we are all humans and our country is run by humans.I served 13 years in the military and I have to tell you that the military was not all that good to me.  I am a woman.  But, I can say that I have met many good people and have had many good times in the military.  I would do it again and when I hear "Taps" it brings on many memories and a tear to my eye.Thank you veterans for putting your life, sanity, and time towards our freedom.I hope everyone had a great weekend!XXXOOO Ashley

You are a great looking 27 y.o.!! I'm only 29 myself!!

Hi blondie!Ok... so maybe you are being sarcastiic but I have shot myself in the foot by my honesty!  Oh well, I don't have anything to hide!  I am who I am and am not ashamed.  I have been around for a long time and love my self, family and clients.  Thank you for the compliment... I have to update my age on my website but those pics where taken within the last year... thank you... my daughter is 14... she will start high school next year...UGGGH!  Doesn't a lot of the girls lie about their age on their website?  I look younger than my actual age.  She is a sweetheart and I am proud to have her as my daughter... she doesn't give me any grief!  I have to help her soon with a school project.  I love being a mother... I have 3 wonderful, makes me to be proud to be mother children.  In Dec one of my daughters tried out for a major motion picture playing Jennifer Lopez's daughter... I still feel that she should have gotten the part... she looks just like Jennifer and is very witty.  So beautiful and personality... can't even begin to explain!  ohh well Hollywood's loss!  She is half German (Me) and half Guamanian... you know how mixed kids are... beautiful... I am so proud of her and of course the rest of my children.  I could keep you up all night talking about them... My son was born on my birthday and that is only the beginning of that story!  Hey Blondie... have you thought of advertising on SouthCoastVIP.com? We would love to have you there!Again thank you... where is your web page?  So I can goggle over you too!Blah... blah ... blah!  Sorry I have gabbed your ear off!Have a wonderful evening!XXXOOO Coorny... back to herself AshleyPS:  I still feel the same about the veterans... thank you!--modified by Sensual Ashley at Mon, May 28, 2001, 22:54:49

Don't believe a word of what Lustman said.  Ashley's younger 2 children are little terrors.  I've nicknamed them Carrie and Damian.  Although I must admit they are little cuties, don't ever turn your back on them.  Sedagive.

Wow!  Ashley!  You served in the military?!  I can't believe it!  You look so soft, sweet, and feminine.  I didn't know they enlisted pretty girls with nice personalities!  I have a little more respect for the military now.

Well Ashley dear I guess they have established you as Leatherneck (lol)... If so then your MOS must have been in a support unit..My MOS was 0302 Infantry Platoon Leader. In the "Old Corps" 1958-1962 They didn't allow woman in Infantry units. Too bad, they could have kept me warm in in my Hootch...Anyway you revealed your age when you talked about the Gulf War. My son was in the 7th Marines, as a TOW Missel Gunner. He went all the way to Kuwait City, so as a 19 year old he got to see the liberation of a country. He is now 30 so I guess that puts you somewhere near his age....Siempre Fi Dear and Happy Birthday November 10.......Chuey

OK Chuey, The truth now & nothing but...Would you have re-upped if they had female officers like the gal on JAG parading around the grinder at the time?  Hell, I would have given it serious consideration...a lot more incentive than the offer to go to OCS & become a shave-tail.  BTW, while you & I may have shared an 0300 MOS designation, I doubt they would have had a proper one in those days for gals like Ashley.  And has Ashley has either confirmed nor denied any association with the globe & anchor?

The only Female officers I saw at Quantico or Camp Lajune looked like they might have come from the Gulag (lol)..My longest tour was with 3rd MarDiv out of Okinawa. No female Marines there, but lots of slant eyes and all the hungry SAC Officers wives that hung out at the Kadina AFB O-Club..that 15 month tour took me to  Korea and Japan so I still have a lurking for the Oriental Ladies.Korea was Cold!! Ashley would have made the perfect fox hole "buddy" no matter what servace she was in (lol)... On a more serious side I was lucky I didn't re-up because several of my BOQ mates went to Viet Nam less than a year later and didn't return home.........We must trade war stores again sometime...Chuey

I forgot to mention... I was 702 (Admin) and then I went to Production Control Vehicle Maintenance... I forgot the MOS for that.  I wasn't easy working with those mechanics... but I survived!I would love to be your fox hole "buddy!"  I love to snuggle!XXXOOO Ashley

Chuey,You surprise me!  Don't you remember that only the Army referred to them as "fox holes" & we were instructed that "fighting hole" was the proper terminology? (LOL) Ahhh hell...meaningless, but always worth joking about about over some suds.  BTW...did you go through boot at San Diego or Perris Island?  And were they still using the M1 Garand then?  I bought one after I became a civilian again...great weapon, one of the best ever for the purpose it was designed for! I think I know what you mean about the buddies who didn't come back.  My own tour ended without me being shipped out, but I was apprehensive when I visited the Wall, concerned that I might find some names of buddies there.  As luck would have it that wasn't the case.So my own "war stories' would most likely be limited to tales of barroom brawls...but hey, some of those wre kinda interesting too.Semper Fi....

Hey Greywolf,I love suds!  I went to basic at Lackland AFB in Texas.  My town pass day was on the 4th of July and my mom and infant daughter (at that time) flew out to see me.  We went to the Alamo and The River Walk in San Antonio.  It was fun!  Then it was off to Biloxi (Jeez... hope I spelled that right!), MS for Tech school!XXXOOO Ashley

So Ashley, what branch of the service was it?  USMC by any chance?...even though it's hard to imagine the 'jarhead' term would be appropriate.Seriously, thanks for your post..both here & in the thread below.  For another view of the same event, perhaps a little different than "Pearl Harbor", you might want to rent "Tora! Tora! Tora!" from the local video store.  Covers the attack from the Japanese perspective, although not in quite the way you might imagine.  While it's still Hollywood & not completely factual, it's still a worthwhile movie.Semper Fi

Greywolf,       I'm not Ashley, but there's a few more grunts, jarheads and leathernecks on board. The Hymn still makes me straighten up, can't resist a "high and tight" and remember we're all green!           Chrissie who shops at MCRD,daughter of a China MarinePS Meghan from Las Vegas, gator freighters, oh don't get me going,lol--modified by Chrissie Dahl at Tue, May 29, 2001, 18:43:34

Hey Chrissie,And all along I thought I was truly one of the "few & proud"...accent here on few.  Oh yeah, remember MCRD very well--Camp Pendleton also.  Hell, the way the drilled all those things into us who could ever forget?  Serial number?  Know it as well as my social security or driver's license.  Damn...I even still use BurmaShave!!  Some things never change...but then again, maybe they shouldn't.  Always nice to hear from someone "from the Halls".From a "former" but never an "ex" green grunt...greywolf

Sorry,  can't call me a jar head!  hehe... I don't think I would've lasted one day in the Marines... I am a big sissy!  hehe... It was the Air Force!  I was an E-5 when I got out.  Have a wonderful eve!XXXOOO Ashley

Ok, now you've spoiled the fantasy that Cheuy had of the two of you together in a "fighting hole".  I would NEVER entertain such fantasies myself. It's perfectly OK that you weren't a jarhead..."airedales" are all right in my book too.  Even if they can't remember their MOS!! (LOL)  Besides, anyone who wouldn't find an extra brain cell to be lonely would never have signed on with the Corps...hey all, it's a joke so no flames OK? Seriously, I'm profoundly grateful to all those who have served regarless of when or with what branch.  All servicemen (& women I suppose) like to "rag" on one another, but it's always really done with an unspoken respect with others may not understand.  And it's even OK that you were an E-5....even though I did get keeping losing stripes myself.  Can't remember what exactly the reasons were....something about "conduct detrimental"...of course I'm not nearly as salty these days.

OK Greywolf, we now both know that Ashley has more brains than us by joining the USAF. When I was hanging out at Kadina AFB, Okinawa I noticed that the AF NCO's had better living quarters than the Marine Corps field grade officers. Also they built O-Clubs that looked like LV Casino's. In answer to your questions in the previous thread: I went directly to OCS at Quantico, VA. I thought I was going to Pennsacola, but the Doc said no way with 20/30 vision. You go to Infantry School! What a bummer. I agree about the M1 bought one myself, but still have the 45 that was my issue back in 58'. Paid $75 for it. What do they cost now? I got in trouble with the USMC brass myself. Tried to put the Batallion S3 (a Major) in the brig one night when I was OD. Young Lts. are not suppose to do that. S**t hit the fan (lol). They transferred me to a service regiment and I ended up spending my last month in 3rd MD on Numazu Beach, Japan in charge of a logistcs site right on the Beach. I found a way to trade Rations to the Mamasan's that ran the Bath Houses for the priviledge of staying in them. Much better than a tent. Got to study Japanese entertainment customs and cultures. Zorro would have have thought he died and went to MP Heaven (lol).. No more stories we old leathernecks are getting boring :-)Chuey
