and since there are some things I don't offer my top possible rating is a 9 so I can't compete with the ladies who go beyond...I don't think about it.

I am aware of my ranking but i hardly obsess over it. Anyone running business today is subject to on line reviews.   And yes, one bad review can severely impact the ratings.  

Unfortunately there are people out there who get off on writing mean scorched earth reviews if they don't get what they want.

I am probably more concerned with reviews my mainstream clients leave on Amazon and Yelp than with one or two mean reviews here.

Most are obsessed with their rankings but will NEVER admit it.

I've seen a few dozen of the top ranked girls, and with almost no exceptions, they're keenly aware of their ranking, and do not want to drop. They are only concerned with going up. Many of the top ranked girls will never see a guy who is a mediocre reviewer or a guy who usually gives 7s, 8s, 9s.  These girls are used to getting 10s and don't want to see guys who don't give 10s.

and the competition brings out some very ugly behavior in MANY less than ethical providers.  

I will not stoop to their level.  I'm realistic, I know my strengths and weaknesses, and I value my integrity more than any ranking.  

If I've lost business because I'm "only" ranked 30 or 40- something in the Carolinas, I haven't noticed.  My calendar is full.

(Clarification: I know there are many very good, ethical providers in the top rankings also - some of them are incredible, no doubt.  But many are not.)

A number of ladies do believe a high ranking brings in more business, and so if their ranking goes up or down they treat it as any business rating--stars on their restaurants, credit rating from Moody's, etc.

A few are very tied up in their egos as well, and for them it is also part personal.  Connect this to the question above, about what motivates the ladies in the business.  Very sadly, for a few it is how they get confirmation that they are liked.  Those ladies probably do themselves more harm than good being in the business.  This work can eat a woman from the inside if she already has some issues.

I made passing reference to it once in an ad just to be funny because all the ads around me that day were making reference to theirs.

Frankly, there is no way for a provider who has been around for more than five minutes to "compete" with newer providers in terms of rankings because TER takes the most basic average to compute them with no accounting for many reviews someone actually has. Providers with 20 reviews can bury a provider with 200+ reviews because whats the liklihood that anyone can sustain 10/10, 9/10s for 20 pages?  At some point the effect wears off.

New girls come into the business keenly aware of their rankings and fight to stay on top of that.  I've seen top-rated escorts with the words "If you're a low reviewer I will not see you" and of course we all know providers weed out low reviewers anyway.

I don't believe the hype.  Mine or anyone elses.
I know how good review profiles are built because I've seen the trends in my own.  Anytime I've gotten 10 on something others have followed suit behind and I've had a streak of 10s.  Anytime I've gotten a 7 on something others have followed suite and felt comfortable issuing me their honest 7.  Reviews are a lot of momentum, hype and follow-the-leader type scoring.  Whenever I see a profile with a girl's reviews all over the place I tend to think to myself "now that is an honest profile".

who hovers in the top 10, and she can't take a piss without describing it as the actions of a "Top 10 Provider in the US!"

Gets really pathetic and old.

Trying to put a number rating...  a rough estimate & subjective at best...  on an interpersonal experience is doomed to failure.   I only use the numbers as the rough tool that they are.  I expect to see swings...  say a 9 average I expect to see variances or 8-9-10 (+/-1).   Then I read the text which narrows it down much more for me.  Each coupling of 2 unique individuals SHOULD BE Unique.  But both...  the Gal & the Guy should give their best effort.  Sometimes...  too often...  the text will reveal client issues "she wasn't my type but I chose to see her anyway so the experience was less than I desired even though she gave her best effort!"   Obiviously I ignore such reviews...  or give her BONUS points for dealing with the guy on an obiviously bad day!  
I research Gals in my area using the TER Favorites Feature & sumarize my research in the notes box provided.   I do revisit my notes as newer reviews come in.   Gals have been known to get ok scores when new but improve as they gain experience.  I see many TER suggestions moving to providers bedroooms!

To go back to the numbers again for a moment...  I've seen gals that got consistant "7s" or "8s" who I consider top shelf & so wrote in my reviews.   They just seem to have these numbers.  The most important thing is consistancy.  
What I DON'T want is wide swings...   an 8 or 9 for performance and the a 2 or 3 for performance.   And I'll judge attractiveness for myself!   But one wide swing I look for "What went wrong" (or grumpy unpleaseable client, not her fault) but more than one per page of reviews I suspect she's moody & doesn't connect well or only connects with one specific type...  and face it, it's 30 years since I was a hot stud...  if ever...    In these cases, I'll consider more pages of reviews into the "average".

I encourage guys to research properly.  The tools are here.  Use them wisely!   Gals, don't let one grumpy reviewer get you down...   Give your best.  Your loyal clients will love you for it.

I realize this is a business, and being consistent and having some kind of recognition of the quality of your work is important as well. I don't beg for good reviews, I just make sure that everyone has the experience they wanted and ask them to be honest (bad reviews come, after all, from us not living up to a clients fantasy). And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just a smidge competitive, but that's more of a side note.

I am much more concerned with consistency and actual content of the reviews. I just think that a 10/10 review doesn't mean as much with just a short paragraph as a lower score with a great description of the date. I want to feel like I really gave them something to write home about, and I think that clients like the detail too.
