On a routine exam, my bloodwork came back with a high PSA number. To make a long story short, I have prostate cancer. I did everything right, I ate a balanced diet, lots of veggies and stayed in shape and showed no symptoms. Surgery is scheduled for next month. If I could I would hobby every day until then, but my copay will eat any money I would have to hobby. Do yourselves a favor and get checked. It is more common than you think. I have, and am going through anger, frustration, and saddness, and I have resigned myself to my fate. November just happens to be prostate awareness month and to show support I read the deal is to grow a mustache. Good luck out there and I hope you all come back clean!

Thanks for the kind words. There is no history of this in my family. And I will loose the nerves on one side which is problematic.
most reliable way to check for this illness is a yearly physical exam at the Dr.; I know many of you ain't fond of a "rubber gloved fickle finger of fate",( I'm certainly not ), but, it ( along with the blood test ) are relatively quick & painless methods & certainly beats the alternative.
I have two clients who have been confronted with this horrible disease. Both are alive, & quite active today. I can personally vouch for that. "wink" It did take a couple months for them to recover, & become functional again, & you may want to use a cover at all times, as blood mixed w/ fluids are quite common for several months following surgery. The extent of advancement makes a difference as well.

I was told the same thing about 18 months ago. It was early enough they were able
to implant radio active seeds in the prostate. My PSA is back to normal and no signs
of the cancer. I was fortunate that I still have all the desire, a sexy lady causes MR Happy
to respond and the climax is still the same.........almost. The only difference, I am the definition of
shooting blanks. Tends to freak out a CIM lady. She feels everything working but
nothing comes out. Guess I better warn them. Oh well.

Sorry to hear about that Silver, scariest diagnosis I ever got. I went through it 2 years ago. I had just turned 60. I assume you have thoroughly looked into your other options. I went for radiation and hormone therapy, which left all my boy parts intact except for a prostate that, according to the doctors; now looks like a piece of amber.
That's the bad news. The good news is that my PSA (checked every 6 months now) is below 0 and I can still fuck!
Yes, when I fist got the news I thought that was the end of my quest for pussy. Not so! The only difference now is that I show very little visible evidence of cumming and if I see a new provider I've got to convince her I'm not faking my orgasm LOL.

I knew this ws the place to vent my frustration, you are all like family at a time like this. I have looked at my options and because of my young age (the Dr.'s words not mine, I am in my eary 50's) and that it is contained my option is a total removal along with the nerves on one side. After that we will see. I am trying to see if I can spare enough money for one more tryst before the surgery so I have fond memories to carry me thru. Thanks again!
about your diagnosis.Your post is very close to home for me as someone in my family was diagnosed with this a few wks ago.Same as you ate well,worked out ,and no symptons but his PSA levels kept going up.Yes,this is very common but I also heard the easiest cancer to treat.Good it was caught early and you can get the treatment you need.My prayers is with you for a healthy and fast recovery.

Having been where you are, and survived, it is not well known that there are no immediate symptoms of prostate cancer. When the symptoms show up, it is usually too late. You are 100% correct in advising everyone to get checked, especially after age 40. And never make any decisions on a course of action without getting a 2nd opinion. My urologist said that any man that reaches age 75, will eventually, either die of prostate cancer, or die with it. Best of luck.

I hope you have looked into the DeVinci Robotic Surgery method. It limits possible nerve damage and potential side effects. Two friends of mine have had it done and had no problems with incontinence or impotence.

There is a lot of information about prostate cancer available on the net, I advise every man to learn about it, since it has been shown that nearly every man who lives to his 70's or 80's will have prostate cancer, but in most cases, it never threatens his life or has any symptoms... Everyone should be tested routinely (PSA) once they reach middle-age, since symptoms are rarely noticeable until it reaches the advance stages.
