I installed using the xpi file; but whenever I try to search for a number, XP Home-SP 2 tells me it is "Unable to read from the Registry". Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks, 60
The engineers at TER have come up with a brand new utility for all you hardcore hobbyists. Imagine if you were on Craig’s list or any other website and could highlight the phone number in an ad, right click it and select "Search on TER" then magically a TER search window would pop up to show you if there were any reviews? Imagine no more. SearchOnTER is here!!!
It works on numbers like: 555-555-1234 5555551234 555$%^555#$^$#1234 555//555////1234
It does not work on “spelled out” phone numbers (yet) like: 3One0 5Five5 1two three4
Instructions: The download SearchOnTER-01Beta.zip by clicking the link below Close all browser windows. Unzip SearchOnTER-01Beta.zip creating setup.exe Run setup.exe Click Next Click next again Click install. Click finish Reboot Computer (just to make sure everything is loaded correctly)
Once the computer comes back up, your browser will have a new option when you select a phone number and right click it.
Have Fun! This is BETA version .1. For those of you who don't know what BETA is, it means there might still be bugs. (Hint hint) If you find them please email me at [email protected] so we can hunt them down and kill them.
I have loaded it and like the new feature. However I do my clandestine search on Firefox because my woulderful sife does not know it is there. On Firefox the phone number utility does not seem to work for me.
clear the regisrty after uninstalling the older version of FireFox, then install FireFox 1.5, and after than install "Search on TER" which would act as an extension in the tool bar (XPI file) ...
It would probably not be a good idea to install this on a computer which one shares with an SO. Imagine if she were to highlight some text, right click, and think "Hmmmm, never saw this before -- Search on TER -- I wonder what that does?" It could be the click heard round the world
I think staff is right - this is for hardcore hobyists only. And ones who have their own secure computer at that.
