I just saw my ATF last Monday, and she called me again last Friday due to low volume of business.
I told her I couldn't meet her Friday due to family coming over for memorial day weekend. In fact, she's now calling me more often, sayin business is slow. What would you do when you're ATF is hard up week after week?

I'm confused about why she would be calling you at all unless you have more than a provider/client relationship.
I send an occasional email to a select few regulars to wish them a happy birthday or happy holiday but I would never consider calling a client to complain about slow business. Seems tacky and unprofessional to me.

Offer her 1/2 the normal rate!

wow harsh remarks. The problem is that he is getting in way to close to a provider. Problem is that she knows when money is tight, she knows who to call. I say, tell her you are just as broke as he, and see what she says. If she really likes you for a person, she will understand. If not, she will try to drain you of every last dollar. Be careful

Yeah even if a week is a bit slow WTH I'm not going to call ANYONE for money...it's not pride I just feel like a visitor should only come to see me WHEN THEY WANT TO SEE ME.

However, just because it's lean for her doesn't mean you should bail her out. Unless you can and are willing to.

If you had any idea how I spent this weekend you'd be insanely pissed!

In any case, I would be more than happy to help out an ATF in her time of need. As long as my wallet will allow.

Hey, they made it clear that's why we see each other in the beginning. Not me.

No provider who called constantly looking for me to book with her would be my ATF...

When times have been tight in the past as well as now I try to funnel what $$ I have to spend on my favorite regulars.

There have been a couple cases where I have done a little extra for my ATF or another provider who had become a friend as well.

Many guys have some degree of friendship with thier ATFs so doing something extra is fine in those circumstances.  The real danger is letting tough financial times make someone seem to be an ATF who never would have been otherwise.

My ATF never presses, though I have noted her increased availability.  

If you are not comfortable, you might wish to consider distancing yourself.  Or, talk with her, and establish a schedule that is satisfactory you both.

When your economic times were or might be tight in the future, will you call her for help? Will she offer you assistance during  your crunch time? Will she provide you reduced rates in her time of "low volume of business"?

It is also the traditional first weekend of summer at Memorial Day Weekend which is a "family oriented" day, not a provider oriented time. Sounds like she had a slow weekend due to clients' obligatory familial priorities.

I do not know the type of relationship you have with her and I do not infer that you should be a totally scathing, uncaring lug. Please, just don't be a sucker.

that the economy has hit everyone hard including yourself. If she cares for your situation at all, she will understand. If not, tell her to get a job and find another ATF.
