I've tuned in a few times on and off but it's really painful to watch her waddling around stuffed into something tight, slurring her words, eyes half closed, babbling disjointedly. Filming her like that seems cruel and it almost seemed like I was exploiting her just by watching it. So I don't watch anymore.

I can't argue with you about the loss of self-respect being a potential part of the "problem." No one can function as they could (whatever function might mean) without it. It's a devastating thing for anyone to lose, can lead to all sorts of self-destructing behaviors. But it's also true that when some people gain wealth they also gain a don't-give-a-shit-I've-got-what-I-need-so-F-everbody attitude. Who knows what's true in her case? Maybe it's a little of both, & maybe mixed with other factors.
Actually, the real problem I personally have is with the absolute shit that some of these TV executive throw at people! I'm not so dumb as to realize that it's done just to bring in the bucks & everything else means squat---so maybe my "problem" really is that so many watch the crap & therefore perpetuate the whole concept.
But I'm just one voice with my own opinon...which like everything else except money means to the TV producers--squat!!
She did an interview on the Howard Stern show and explained that she got very depressed going thru the legal battle and had to be medicated and hospitalized for awhile, which caused her to gain the weight. She also said that she had gotten off the meds and just started working out so she can get back in shape. I hope she does. She's lovely although a bit weird.
