I'm just addressing a couple of recent long strings that have resulted in quite a few ladies discussing the difficulty of their jobs, the emotional and social sacrifices they've made; And one gal, in particular (I don't remember who) calling herself a slut, or feeling like she was a slut. But, yes, it could be addressed to anyone in this business.

But I will say that while I agree with your sentiment I also respect the ladies that made the comments.  

Please all, take a sec and consider that in some ways this is the only "break room" some ladies have... as such sometimes the need to vent breaks out and this is one of the places it will happen.

And that goes both ways ladies... so remember that things like this thread aren't necessarily at you directly... just a reaction getting an equal or greater reaction.

riker, I think you are a smart person and your comments are usually well thought out. But I think you are overanalyzing here.

There is a certain amount of dysfunction in this business, but you're beginning to sound like a feminazi, even with tongue in cheek. Doctors have to deal with intense pain, suffering and loss as well as blood and extremely gross things.

Psychologist deal intense psychological problems and get intimate with the lives of their clients.

Garbage men deal with the smell.

Military and government assassins have to kill

CSI and Profilers involve themselves with evil.

The psychological skills these people have and develop are never called dysfunctional. Now, some of them may have or develop mental problems because of their jobs and suffer from the stress, but the rest of us don't condemn them because of it. Many are just good at what they do and are well adjusted. The only reason it is said to be a dysfunction in prostitutes is because of the social stigma's placed on women who have and enjoy sex.

In the case of all these professions, someone has to do the job.

It's up to individuals to decide whether or not they're cut out for it.
