Hi there:

1. Sounds like the description for an incall place seems nice.   How would i confirm if the location is nice and safe and secure from hidden cameras?  (i know a paranoid question)
2.As an older newbie, just nervous- if coming to the hotel (where they have access to the elevator)- is it appropriate to meet in the lobby or ask the escort to come to the room?  What is proper etiquette?

Tks

And the result will generally be the provider will simply ghost you. While I do understand your concerns, you need to understand this game will always have risks that simply need to be assumed. If you can't do it, better find some other recreation. Specifically....
1) You can't confirm much about the location unless it's a hotel that has a web site. But there is no way on earth to be sure it's "secure from hidden cameras." Besides, today cameras are everywhere but what are you afraid of? All you'll be doing is walking through a lobby. Nothing illegal about that.
2) I would never ask to meet in the lobby because that could make it even more obvious what you're there for. And it's likely to be off-putting for the lady and get her to ghost you. I've played in dozens of hotels and have NEVER met the lady in a lobby except once. And that was a special occasion with a woman I'd seen before who wanted to meet for a drink first. Proper etiquette is to contact her according to her instructions and then receive the room number and go up.
Relax! This is supposed to be fun!

As an amendment to Inicky46 comment, I stay away from AirBNB due to the hidden camera.  I am somewhat private and reserved, and I have heard horror stories about owners installing hidden cameras at Air BNBs.  Don’t Go There!  I won’t go there!   As Inicky46 stated all hotels have cameras, even the Notels have cameras.  Not to worry, like he stated, all you are doing is passing through the lobby…No Crime Committed!   Lighten up and Have A Blast!!!

You have a point. It would be nice to know ahead of time if a provider is using an Air BNB type place for her incall. Assuming you do outcalls, do you have a way of knowing if an address is a BNB/vacation-rental home?

Sounds like you are extremely nervous but just relax, providers are not out to get you.  Even if there are cameras in a random parking lot, it is perfectly legal to walk in a parking lot to someone's room.

And yes, you will absolutely discuss the details of where to meet with the provider.

The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men, gang aft a-gley ...
.
Good advice from others but I'll just add: relax. But if you plan too much, you must also prepare yourself for minor screwups.
.
Provider checks into hotel at 3 PM and elevators don't need a key card. You arrive at 7 PM, she tells you "no key card needed" but you get there and the elevator needs a key card to leave the lobby. "Yikes!! HELP!!!! Waaah!" Calm down. This is a common screwup. She didn't know that that hotel switches from "no key" elevators to "key only" elevators starting at 6 PM. Step back to the lobby, send her a text or phone her. She will complain that she has to cover her lingerie with civvy clothes and come down to get you. Once again. DON'T WORRY. She MIGHT tell you, "I'll be down in 5 minutes, wearing a grey sweatpants and a red sweatshirt. I'll take a tourist brochure from the lobby, Follow me to the elevator." Or she might greet you in public, "Hi Blu, I'm Violet. Nice to meet you, let's go." She will NOT hop on the front desk and shout out, "Who's the trick that's here to fuck me!??" Try to go with the flow.
.
Another common elevator screwup. She tells you that "the elevators are to the left of the palm tree in the lobby." You plan and plan and look up different kinds of palm trees in wikipedia so you are prepared to recognize any potted palm. You practice how to push an elevator button with your elbow to avoid leaving finger prints (but attracting waaaaaay too much attention by doing so).  Then, "Aggh! No elevators!!! Where are they. She is screwing with me! ... Oh, there they are on the right." OK, so your hostess might be dyslexic or doesn't know her L from her R. Or she thought they are on the L when LEAVING the hotel, not when entering. Stay calm. It will work out.
.
Another elevator situation: "Uh oh. I'm getting onto the elevator with a M-F couple. Uh oh. She knows I'm here to visit a Provider. She hates me. I can see in his eyes that the guy is giving me a nod of jealous approval. I can't do this ... everybody knows!" and you dash out of the elevator and hotel into the street. NO! Nobody knows. Nobody cares. Pick your nose and people will turn away from you in disgust and TRY to ignore you.
.
Don't sweat the small stuff. It might SEEM like big stuff in the moment, but it's actually small stuff.
.
Residential versus hotel locations offer a different set of potential screw ups or points of confusion (hence, stress). But they usually aren't as bad as they seem in the moment. Doormen; lobby sign-in desk; etc.. There are always ways of dealing with it without having a panic attack.

Always carry some tools with you like a screwdriver and a pair of pliers.

If anybody asks, just say that some dame called down and asked to have someone come up to screw around with the knobs on her chest.

(Sometimes I just slay myself.)

Over the years, I've posted many of my secrets and tricks, but I sometimes don my "Impposter Plumbing" coveralls, put on my shades, and carry some PVC tubing from Home Depot under my arm. I tell anyone who tries to stop me that, "There's an emergency. I have to go to Room #### and lay some pipe."

Sometimes, you slay ME!

to get there.  I'm an older gentleman, with a bit of a paranoid streak, who has recently joined the hobby.  So, I can empathize with you.

As many have said, relax.  You're not doing anything illegal by walking through a hotel and going into a room where you've been invited.  Or, sitting in a parking lot, checking your phone.  And, no one is thinking about what you are doing.  They are consumed with their personal shit.  Just like you are when you're traveling.

And finally, keep in mind that your hostess will try to make it as easy as possible for you to to get to her.  You are her paycheck.

First of all, If the place is somewhere near where you usually visit or if it's close to where you live. Then check it out by yourself. Then afterwards, Go back to your home and decide whether or not you want to schedule an appointment. And go from there. I am always accepting new clients in Atlantic City, NJ.   Janet (609) 431-1393

If you're meeting a reputable provider you really don't have anything to be too concerned with.

I'm not sure why you would think there's a problem with a lady coming directly to your hotel room. The only time this would be an issue is if the elevator requires a card key to operate.
