... to go with the lady who provides a superior performance. I've had it with the young providers who know they're beautiful and pretty much figure that a putz like me is lucky just to see her naked.

Got to agree with the BG69..Performance is key..I had a session recently with a 19yr old girl; SHe was w/o a doubt a beautiful lady..a smokin hot body! Her performance was way below expectation. I would not have minded much had she wanted to be schooled abit..But nay..
What more can say..I will take performance 10 out of 10..
I agree- well, maybe not to the extreme, (if EITHER score is a 2, I believe a "next!" is in order), but performance is primary, appearance is secondary...
Of course, 10/10 is better.
We all see beauty differently.
Someone you may think is a 10 might be a 6 to me, using the TER scale.
Someone I look at as a 10 may only rate a 5 to someone else.
But we can all pretty much agree on "service received".
So, for me, service, which includes attitude and personality, is everything.
I have seen "beauty" in every lady I have seen.
In my years of participation, I haven't been disappointed in the service or the appearance yet.

I have to go with a 10/7 over a 7/10. More precisely, looks are more important to me than performance. I want to be with the girls I can never have... the ones who'd turn me down at the bar or club without so much as an excuse. I've been with average-looking girls who gave great performances, and I've been with stunning girls who barely allowed me to touch them, and I can tell you this -- I'd rather jerk myself off to a beautiful woman than roll around in ecstasy with an average woman.
BUT, if someone wants repeat business, they should offer a minimum performance standard to go with a pretty face. Unfortunately, a 10/10 or a 10/9 is usually too expensive for me to comfortably afford (without heartburn LOL), so I usually try to choose a 10/7 or a 9/7. Actually, when you phrase it like this, the rating system sounds almost ridiculous. I guess I just try to find the prettiest woman with the best performance I can afford.
Your comment made me go back and review my old reviews... and you're right. But that was years ago, and my priorities have changed since then. There was a time when the mood would strike me, and I would just be so impatient that I would arrange a meeting with the first provider I could find who wasn't busy at the time. Isn't it funny how the least busy providers are often also the least attractive providers? At least in my experience. Now I'm more cautious and selective about who I see -- and I really don't write reviews anymore for several reasons, unless the provider asks me to.
But to be frank, most providers are a disappointment in the performance department, and nine times out of ten I have to finish the session by jerking off. No one can give me pleasure like I give myself.
For myself, certainly performance without a doubt.
With a great performance my eyes roll back in their sockets and I don't even notice the lady's looks. So much of the sex appeal of a woman comes through in the performance, that I just can't imagine having the looks of a lady be that important.
If I went for looks I suppose I could set up a lawn chair outside the Ford Agency and get plenty of 10/0 scores and be happy. 
To me it's about even, so long as either doesn't go too low. No lower than a 6 on either, I'd say.
When the looks go that low, I tend to prefer french lessons.
Someone fucks you great, they will be the most beautiful person in the world.

Dear Lady with the Dangerous Weapons:
When you ask a question such as this one, it is probably a good idea to ask respondents to state their age.
My guess: the older guys are more likely to prefer performance over looks. Why? As we age, the reduction in testosterone causes a reduction in our ability to become aroused by visual stimulation. We need physical contact.
In my time here, I have never used my VIP to research rankings based on appearance, only those based on performance.
