firefox add-on

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I'll try anyway.  I recently got a new computer, installed the latest version of Firefox (3.6.8) and installed the "search on TER" add-on.  Firefox shows it's installed but it doesn't work.  It's worked on all my other computers just fine.  When I highlight something, I never get the option to "search on ter" like I'm used to.  Any ideas/suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

It wasn't installed, so I installed it but to no avail.  Would you recommend uninstalling firefox and reinstalling it now that java is installed?  I'm not opposed to doing that - heck, maybe I'll just try it.

For what it's worth, the first thing I do when I get a new pc is to delete all the partitions and re-install the OS w/o all the crap that comes with the system.  So it's a clean copy of Win 7 Pro x64.

I've had the same problem with the Firefox plugin, but I found a work-around.  It appears that the plugin installs, but I could never get it to work using the latest version of Firefox and also the previous version.  The "Search On TER" doesn't show up when you "right-click" after highlighting a phone no. or name.

I did find a work-around.  Use the Safari bookmarklet for Search On TER which is located on TER's plugin page.  Just drag the link to your Firefox bookmarks to create a new bookmark.  It's basically a java script and it works with Firefox, but you have to click that bookmark after highlighting a phone no. or name.

Clever workaround.  I still do prefer right-clicking but this works.  It would also be nice to not have a TER bookmark that I might have to explain too. :)

It's easier to bury the bookmark (and rename it to something innocuous) that to explain the menu option.

I also suggest not using the main browser if this is a shared computer. Either run a browser off of a thumbdrive or install something like Chrome and don't put icons on the desktop. With Win 7 you can also install it only for yourself and not other users.

Install Firefox again, go to the "Content" tab in the preference window and make sure "Enable JavaScript" is checked and then install TER plugin.

I've had the same problem in Firefox but on Windows XP, and these steps worked for me.

I must have a gremlin in my pc.  I tried these steps but to no avail.  Thanks for the suggestion.
