Saw a photo the other day of a great retro outfit for airline stewardesses on our Photo Board:
http://www.theeroticreview.com/discussion_boards/viewMsg.asp?BoardID=114&MessageID=21098

and today saw an article that just made me yearn for the past.  Granted, I wasn't even alive then but United Airlines had two men-only routes between 1953 and 1970.  Dubbed "executive flights" the routes were New York & Chicago, and Los Angeles & San Francisco.  Came with cocktails, cigars and a steak dinner; the only women aboard were two air stewardesses.  And NO whiny/sticky/stinky kids!

I don't know if Mile High Club was an option in those days, but something tells me it would have been encouraged by the passengers!

Anybody remember what a ticket price was back then, and how that would translate into today's dollars?  And did they relax the rules for sporting women?

Not sure I would enjoy a 'men only flight'.  The ladies are always a plus.

... reminded me of a provider ad I saw recently that was a metaphor about taking a flight, with many special services available. I don't think I'm allowed to link a provider's ad here, but it certainly involved "congenial company."  :)

There were  selective posting privileges catering to loud guys  in those days.

I don't know about the rest of you, I like to hear a  woman's point of view.............
as long as she doesn't go on and on and on, like some  Gals and Boys still do,
until  the new and improved TER mods stifle unnecessary noise.  :-D

That's all I have to say on this subject!

I did a lot of flying up and down the Pacific coast on commercial carriers on government fiinanced project so I don't recall the costs but what I do remember that the flight attendants were all attractive women. Passengers  were for the most part well dressed and well behaved, contrary to passengers today. A couple of late night flights into Seattle on a holiday were practically empty and a beautful Stewerdest brought two bottles of champaign and joined my travelling companion  and me. Very freindly but neither of us joined the mile high club :(

By the late 1960s things had progressed quite a bit and I flew quite a few trips on one airline that had very special benefits.  See their ad below.

I seem to recall that full fare coach round trip from Boston to San Francisco back then was around $700, but flying standby was around $200.  You can just about multiply those figures by 10 to obtain the value in today's dollars

This post reminds me of the TV show Pan Am that run a few years ago for a short time. Although as a child I flew Pan Am with my parents several times between the USA and India, I never got to experience the full glamour of the Pan Am days as I saw depicted in the series. It seems so posh to travel and everyone would dress up, quite different from the howling babies and girls in sweats that we see now. I long for a bit more formality in my world I suppose.

Classic Race to the bottom....  If fares were higher, the experience might be better....  Oh well - you can always charter....

I don't go anywhere, but I see so many airplanes in the sky.

Even though the airlines don't seem to turn much of a profit, at least I don't think they do. I could be wrong. I still believe their motive is to make money, so I think that's why they subscribe to the high volume business model.

I think anyone who wants to pay more to fly can afford their own aircraft. Yeah I know you already said that.

She recently moved to a Home where she could get the care she needs.
I wish her and you the best.

One of the first signs of Alzheimer's is recalling long ago while quickly  forgetting  most
recent events.
When I mentioned boys club mods I was speaking of the most recent mods, before TER in house mods took over.
The boys club mods were guys not a Girl next door .

Evidently you have an issue distinguishing between Guys and Gals  or you are losing your mind.

Please get your self checked out, the possibility of mental problems is something you shouldn't ignore.

I couldn't help but notice, contrary to popular opinion at the time Mod changes
came in place, TER membership and participation has increased, and a larger variety
of  gals post now than then.  :-D

Sounds to me like a description of Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA). While the flight attendants were attractive and sexy, don't recall any high jinx the air, although there were stories certainly.
