I suspect that it also depends on life situations... if for instance a dude has kids - and a wife - we are looking at well above $200K a year...  I suspect that you cannot maintain a mistress for anything less that about $80K a year - clothing, housing and insurance - to say nothing of the car etc.

If you are single, that number drops, but the odds are that the demands on the lady increase, decreasing her ability to obtain cash by "other means!"  

So I would say that if one is offering oneself as a sugar daddy - we talking about $225K per year as the bottom rung of this arrangement...


This also rules out SS recipients...

depends, depends, depends...

i think to be a Sugar Daddy, controlling for regional economic variances [LA and NYC Sugar Daddies would have to have deeper pockets than thir counterpars in places like Fargo or Missoula], the would-be Sugar Daddy has to have enough discretionary income to support Ms. Right at a level of at least upper-middle class lifestyle.

There used to be an old formula that one's housing costs should not exceed 25% of one's income.  I'm thinking something like annual housing cost plus annual avearge gross income, and times that figure by  at least 2 or 3, at a minimum, and that's what it's going to take to keep her happy.  and that all comes out of Sugar Daddy's discretionary income.  

Not a cheap proposition, no matter how you cut it.

I put some noodling to this one time.  Over a couple of drinks a friend of mine considered this (heavens..I would never consider having a full time mistress )

Since we're in SFO area - the cost of living is considerable.    For a decent apartment, car allowance, food, entertainment (geez, you can screw ALL the time!)medical costs, etc.  it takes a NET $6K a month to pay this..that's minimum.

My friend makes a great living so he's in the 45% tax bracket (fed, state, local) he would have to make almost $11K a month EXTRA to get the $6K net to pay his mistress.   So you need a gross income nearing $140K just to pay for the mistress.   That is over and above your personal income needs.

I'm spending $12K a year on my hobbying so I feel like that's a bargain.   Besides I'm such an UNBELIEVABLE lover that my ladies pay ME! for sex!  (and if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you)

So there's your free "mistress overhead business plan."

It's a Hell of a Lot more than I will ever have,

Plus you do not get some of the issues that arise from a "sugar baby" on the frickin payroll.  It is tough enough to be discrete in the hobby...just think if you were supporting a shopping machine, as beautiful and nice as she may be. Think angel to bitch in 3 seconds...LOL whew.

Me -it would depend on the worth of the lady in question... some are worth far more than my estimates of around providing them with $80K a year - and for that price one does NOT get exclusivity - exclusivity comes at a far higher rate...  for $80K per annum - you get certain rights and privaleges - that is so many visits per week, first dibs on your times, and a weekend excursion once a month and 5 other "sleepover parties" per month....   oh, and of course you have to attend his funeral when he dies...  Bwahahaha....

Seriously - I was amused by your comment - as it sounds like a lot of guys on those sites have the illusion that  $60-90K PA is a lot of money, and while it is in some parts of the country, in others - it is barely minimum wage.  And sadly both of our current political candidates wish to tax those folk right out of existance....  they've no concept of how many make that income, and what their proposed tax increases would do to families in that income bracket- me?  I am not in that tax bracket - fortunately I qualify for food stamps which some providers let me trade for spankin's!  lol!!!

I've been a Sugar Daddy a few times and never have (nor ever would) pay her $90K+ a year!

A provider who is used to making six figures (usually multi six figures) for her services is going to want to make that kind of cash in a SD arrangement too. Understandable, I'd want to make similar cash as I'm making now if I switched jobs too.

But providers aren't the only game in town! A "civilian" girl who knows what it's like to earn a living in the "real world" is going to have more realistic expectations of money than a provider. She probably isn't the type of person that wants to have sex with hundreds of guys per year to make a decent living so she isn't going to be looking to replace that level of income with a SD arrangement. She's probably just looking to live more comfortably than her $35k/year secretary job or struggling student/artists/single mom life pays now.

While this is not the traditional idea of a sugar daddy, I've known a few guys who find girls via CL "casual encounter" ads and have a kind of paid girlfriend relationship. The guy pays her rent, and gives her a few hundred bucks here and there. In return, the girl will entertain him a couple of times a week.

It seems like these deals end up going sour pretty quickly, as the girls who are doing this haven't thought it out very well.

Go ahead and look through the "casual encounter" section of CL for major cities and you'll see there are girls and guys trying to find each other.
