Someone labeled lower back tattoos as a tramp stamp and it stuck.  It was probably some little prick who got dumped by his girlfriend and was pissed.  Consequently the pretty lower back tattoos many nice ladies have are labeled as being tramp stamps.  So 'they' do not get them because they are tramp stamps.  'They' get them because 'they' like them.  And many 'theys' got them long before they were ever labeled "tramp stamp."

That's all I can come up with.

No matter what you call them, "they" are a visual -- and permanent -- cliche.  The only really interesting tatoo I've heard of lately is in the new Dos Equis ad which claims that The Most Interesting Man in the World's Mom has a tattoo that says "Son."
Hey, do you know the joke about the waspy guy who got his fiance's name,"Wendy," tatooed on his cock one night when he was drunk.  He was on his honeymoon on Jamaica and was taking a piss.  He looks over to the next stall at a huge black guy and, glancing down at his dick sees that it has a "Wendy" tattoo also.  He points out the coincidence and the black guys says, "Oh, no, mon, when it's all swole up it says, "Welcome to Jamaica, mon, have a nice day."

I have a tramp stamp. I got it back in.. fuck I don't know, maybe 2000 or '01? At the time I wasn't aware of the tramp stamp term, I just had an idea for a tat, and had it done. Simple as that. Clients don't seem to mind it. When we're in doggie position they totally forget about any tattoos I have once they experience the view and the feel of said postion with me. ;-)

I think they add to a sexy allure.  On the lower leg above the ankles is also quite a sexy place for them!

Funny you mention that, as just this evening I was looking down in wonder at a very fine Brazilian booty, avec tramp stamp, and could not have cared less.  In fact, it looked quite fetching.

Doesn't make a damn bit of difference when you're slamming it from behind and the feeling+the view has you cross-eyed....

Oh, God! Oh, God! Oh, Goddddd!!!!!!

Reminds me of former Sen. Gary Hart, of whom it was said, "He needs to be hosed down with Lithium and Saltpeter."

Who knows and who cares who gets one, why the get one, or why its called what it is?

All I know is, when I see a shapely lady with a beautiful back and a tattoo across her lower back, I think it looks sexy as fvck, especially if the tattoo is underlined by the sexy string of a g-string. I am so glad they became popular. I absolutely love the look of a "tramp stamp", and I'm not brain dead enough or snobbish enough to equate ink with 'trash'.

Same thing goes for belly button rings. Damn they are sexy.

but you never read about inked people complaining about non inked poeple?

Personally I'm not inked but would like one.  I've just never been able to think of one I like enough to be a semi-permanent part of me.  My wife has a really cute honeybee on her left shoulder that I like a lot.  As for others tattoos, whether I like or dislike them totally depends for me on what, where and how many there are.

“Belly stars are no longer in style”, said McBean.
“What you need is a trip through my Star-Off Machine.
This wondrous contraption will take OFF your stars
so you won’t look like Sneetches that have them on thars.”
And that handy machine working very precisely
Removed all the stars from their tummies quite nicely.

Then, with snoots in the air, they paraded about.
And they opened their beaks and they let out a shout,
“We know who is who! Now there Isn’t a doubt.
The best kind of Sneetches are Sneetches without!”

Then, of course, those with stars got all frightfully mad.
To be wearing a star was frightfully bad.
Then, of course, old Sylvester McMonkey McBean
invited THEM into his Star-Off Machine.

But McBean was quite wrong. I’m quite happy to say.
That the Sneetches got really quite smart on that day.
The day they decided that Sneetches are Sneetches.
And no kind of Sneetch is the best on the beaches.
That day, all the Sneetches forgot about stars and whether
They had one, or not, upon thars.

...is how they will look when collecting Social Security.
