Am I right to assume this?

Guys,  when are you starting your work travels? Heard from some, it will not resume till September.  šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Most of my travels have been converted to video teleconferences for the foreseeable future.  Travel may not pick up full steam until next year.  Although we live in a time when you can't see beyond a couple of months into the future. So who knows.  But I see that girls are starting to tour again.  I think that will rescue the hobby first.

When you're married and both working from home, it's difficult for some to consistently come up with reasons for going out for 2-3 hours.

yup, you can only have so many physical/doctors appointments.  Any word if any conferences are going to happen this year, or not until there is a vaccine?

for the immediate future both work travel and large conference/conventions are a thing of the past for the immediate future.

Depending on how quickly an effective and safe vaccine is found or other treatments that prevent infection even if not providing any immunity a return to something close to the "good old days" might happen.

There are a bunch of hotels in walking distance from where I live. I sneak out in the evening for a walk, to the hotels.  I do walk everyday so it does not look suspicious why I walk so much.  I will take a shower at the incall, take one after the session is over. TO be extra careful I take another before I go to bed.

Mainly, could count on a fake visit to a Casino or Movie to cover me.

"We ran out of Disinfectant Wipes [or pick your local favorite]. The closest store that has any in stock is the Wal-Mart an hour away from us. See you in 2.5 hours."
.
1. Make sure you actually have some, so buy a 3-pack but only bring in one box at a time, leaving the others in the trunk or garage for two more visits.
2. Be careful not to let her stick you with a huge shopping list.

will be going back to work in the next couple of months as businesses "reopen", and things will pick up a bit. I don't see travel by air or rail picking up much anytime soon. I doubt there will be any conferences or large meetings/gatherings anywhere until we have a solid treatment or vaccine.

I have traveled regionally throughout this whole thing... I am soooo sick of empty hotels and Grubhub.

I would normally attend 5 trade shows during the summer. Two have been cancelled and the remaining trade shows have been pushed back 4 to 6 weeks, which makes the dates almost useless.

there is no mention of any conventions happening out here this year.
I did hear recently they announced CES will be back in Jan with of course new social distancing rules.
As so many know with Vegas being a tourist city we get so many meetings and conventions being held here.
I heard from many gents that there travel plans were on hold.Unless on vacation and then in that case usually the wife wants to come.If you're single I guess there no worries there.
I haven't been on a plane since March I am preparing to start touring this month or next.
Some guys can get away in their local city and some have to wait until they travel to see ladies.
It will be interesting to see how this year goes.

AND I don't have any more fear of catching COVID than I do of catching the regular flu, I have missed several beats because of the lock downs in most of the places I go to for fun, but I try not to let that slow me down too much.  I will say it's nice having a drink that I don't have to pour and a meal that I don't have to cook again.

Read an article in this weekend's "Wall Street Journal" where virtually all domestic and international airlines are not planning on air travel getting anywhere near 2019 levels for 2-3 years.

Look for more layoffs coming this fall, when the restrictions against terminating employees lifts for those airlines who took federal subsidy money preventing it.

Until the company that employees me starts picking up revenue, no funds to travel.

Finally there are the clients.  Not taking any face to face appointments.

My frequent traveler status is going to hell quickly.

Just saw an article today saying the WHO is now saying that it does not think asymptomatic cases are a serious driver of the virus spread.

Now, the WHO has not been all the stellar in getting a lot right but if that becomes the generally accepted view (and stays that way ;-) one might think business, travel, conventions and lots of other things will start picking up. Possibly very much in the V form or recovery.

If you're not coughing or sneezing, you're not going to propel the virus very far.

Valida 17 Reviews 143 reads

That does not quite agree what has been written this year and with prior research.  Laughing, singing, speaking, and even just breathing all emit droplets from the airway.  These are smaller than the splatter from coughing/sneezing, and are not "propelled" as far, but they are small enough that they do not settle out of the air quickly either -- so they can travel on small air currents for quite far indeed.   And they are less-well captured by the simple cloth masks most of us wear in public these days.

That is general.   Whether those droplets are effectively causing Covid-19 infections or not is a separate question, one that the WHO seems to be cautiously answering in the negative.

But the common-sense idea that not coughing/sneezing avoids sending particles out seems, alas, incorrect.

as long as you're singing about Jesus, He will not let the droplets come out of your mouth.  I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

I think they have already determined that there have been no documented transmissions via an aerosol state of water vapor.  Initially, they said they THOUGHT it could be transmitted that way, but that was later put to rest.  If you are laughing or speaking, or singing the devil's music rather than hymns, then if you maintain social distancing, you are not likely to infect anyone, according to Dr. Birx (well, she may not have included "devil's music", I added that to bait someone into a meltdown.)  The point is, that the science here is evolving, and there is still a lot of disagreement in the scientific community about transmission.  Its a fact that states that have already reopened have seen new infections and death rates drop, which the worriers said they would increase.  The whole "stay-at-home" idea was a huge mistake.  When you are isolated from others, your immune system deteriorates.  You need to have DAILY interaction with all kinds of germs, bacteria and virus' to keep it working at peak efficiency.

on contradicting CDC/US?

I just read an article on pre-symptomatic "super-spreaders" as a major driver of US infections. There's also this

 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0869-5

It's only one paper (and it's all Guangzhou data), but I'm gonna go with viral shedding a few days before and just after symptom onset coupled with a gregarious person in a crowd equals an infection driver.

One key seems to be symptom onset... no one seems to know if those who never develop overt symptoms are infectious to others at any point.

Not sure where you're getting your news here but it is accepted that talking, singing and shouting are all related to increased transmission. A choir of 60 held a practice, adhering to "proper" social distancing (the useless 6 foot rule). 40 of the 60 came down with the virus and it was traced to that practice session.

There was another case (Europe somewhere I believe) where multiple people were infected in a restaurant. Tracing the event showed the problem was the person infected was sitting in front of one of the vents. All the people in the restaurant that became infected were sitting downstream from that person.

The key seems to be enclosed spaces with recirculating air and not open spaces with an inflow of fresh air.

I agree it's still a developing situation. I also agree that your point about people that are not coughing and sneezing will not be spreading any virus to the extent those who are. So I think your point that the asymptomatic might be expected to be lower risk for transmission to the general population in passing (as apposed to sitting in the same room with them and having the air they exhale venting in your direction while having a meal) is not unreasonable.

Also, some have been saying there seems to be an increase in the post opening -- basically we are starting to see what happened over Memorial Day. The next week or so should be the acid test on whatever second wave might be coming. And of course we might see what happens in 2 or 3 weeks for all the protestors and police, but I have heard that might not be a good test due to it occurring outside. We'll see I guess. (Or perhaps make the 75 yo in Buffalo who go shoved by the police the canary in the coal mine for that given most of the protesters were relatively young)

Majority of my biz is from gents using cover of being at work to stop by and see me, or visiting them at LAX hotels while they're in town on biz (I rarely have to pay for parking at Marriott since attendants just wink & validate me as a guest lol).
Over years I've become accustomed to slow times being during holiday and vacations times when gents have to do fam time. That's why current climate is scaring S out of me since it may be a long time before that portion of biz returns.
I'm not going to wade into "when will it be safe" part of discussion. I will say that as a provider I'm starting to do risk/benefit (or more like risk/rent) calculations. For example, my regular 74yo client who works from home makes the cut currently, a new 30yo client cold calling me does not. Sigh.
Stay safe y'all,

disagreement in the scientific community right now.  They are saying today that they don't think asymptomatic people can transmit it, or at least not nearly as much as those with symptoms.   That's a huge departure from what we have been told for the last four months.  With the exception of a few "hot-spots", the states that have reopened have seen a decline in both new cases and deaths.

I don't think there is much support for another lock down. Might be some limited hot-spot cases but everyone has a better idea how to play the pandemic game now so no need for the knee-jerk reactions.

That said, we're not getting back to the same levels of business travel or convention/conference activities nor will we see major sports related live mass attendance events anytime soon.

We had to postpone our Vegas convention at Venetian until next summer.  We pack in the people and social distancing just will not work for our crowds.  Also the still low number of flights available would make it difficult for everyone to get there for a big convention.
I am working my ass off from home with little chance to get out for fun.
