Kyra Phillips went to the bathroom during a live broadcast of a Pres. Bush speech.  She forgot to turn off her mike and was gossiping with another woman in the ladies room.  Her gossip was broadcasted over the Bush speech on CNN.  She was praising her husband and bad mouthing her sister-in-law.

You did hear her unzip but it unfortunately didn't get as graphic as "The Naked Gun" movie.

I guess her sister in law won't be inviting her to Thanksgiving dinner.

She seems to be an arrogant c&^t. Maybe she'll get knocked down a peg or two. I bet her loving husband is seeing Tori or one of Atlanta's other great ladies.

Want to get really depressed? Watch NBC nightly news...Bush mumbles through an interview with Brian Williams. What an embarrassment to the USA.

He or She is the person who is responsible for what goes on the air in terms of sound.  The "talent" is not responsible for that.

I do not blame her, I blame the incompetent sound board operator...

He doesn't always know what goes on backstage until he hears chatter and then it's too late. It's up to the talent to turn his/her mic off. This happens more than you think and the sound guy cannot follow her around all the time.

Sorry, Ciara, but you are wrong here.  I do this stuff for a living, and there is no way her mic should have been hot.  There are these things called mute buttons, and if a person isn't supposed to be talking, you use one.

It's the audio guys fault.  She, in point of fact, probably CAN'T turn her mic off.  Certainly, I would never allow tallent to have a mic whose power switch had not been disabled (on most wireless packs, there is a fuction to lock the mic in the "on" possition to avoid having the mic turned off accedentally, which is a far bigger issue than having one left on).

Now, I'm not saying it was an ACCIDENT, because audio guys can be pretty vindictive towards assholes, but it was certainly the audio guys responsability to turn off the mic.

I guess I'm thinking when I ran audio for theatre and the actors could turn their mics off. However, shouldn't the talent let the audio guy know where she's going if she is running around doing something else? I guess from a sound booth perspective you are right. :)

If she's not on the air, her mic should be dead.  It really is that simple.  Certainly, while the president is speaking there should never be anything else on.
