I don't know - I, personally, cannot relate to this post, but have had problems calling other people's cell phones here and there and experiencing what you're saying. Probably these are people who might have that prepaid service or some of those plans that as soon as it runs out, you're cut off.

Hope that helps..?

If they have consideration for their client they probably turn their cell phone off during appointments so maybe that could be the case.  Maybe they are on vacation or just not working.  Maybe they are with family and can't take business call.s

yeah i can see that, but the problem i'm noticing is the phones being deactivated...actually having an operator say "this phone service has been deactivated"... and 2 days later....boom they are on again...

i don't know, when I finally work up the courage and game to call up a broad its annoying when the phone's dead. Can't even leave a message and spit that game ya feel me? just on my mind. Thanks for replying.

I know when I had my Ericsson cell phone, and my Service Carrier would do upgrades or working on their system, it would shut down my phone service completely, as also with Panasonic phones.
I ran down to the Carrier office and the room was full of fuming people wanting an explanation for their phone service being cut off!
He explained that it had that effect on those two phone brands.
I don't have a land line, so I just bought another phone right then, as I sure wasn't waiting 24 hours (possibly) for service to resume!
That could be it, too..

shut off the phone service if the bill isn't paid on time.  SprintPCS is notorious for this, you get a message saying something to the effect of the phone being temporarily disconnected. When the bill is paid the phone gets turned back on.

Today, while dining on my favorite provider, her cell phone rang.  She did not take the call & turned it off.  About one minute later the hotel phone rang & she pulled the line from the back of the phone to turn it off.  We went on to have the most wonderful encounter!  Thank you AJ.

many use pre-paid phones and when you are out of phone-time, it will give a message saying the phone is disconnected ... when more phone time is bought the phone is back on ...

Forgot to pay my cell phone bill.  Different providers (I mean, cell phone providers) have different rules about how they handle this, but with Sprint I'd find myself all of a sudden getting connected to customer service instead of whomever I was trying to call, to be told PAY UP! ;)

That's the only thing I can think of that might account for what you're talking about.

Me personally I have a limit on how high my phone bill can be.  So if I go over my minutes one month and reach the upper limit of the bill they cut my phone off without warning, and the next thing you know I am talking to customer service and giving them my credit card info.  Then it takes a few hours or up to a day to restore service.  I can't keep track of the minutes, and there is no way for me to know if I'm gonna get cutoff until it actually happens.  I'm sure most providers have a similar situation, it's not like we don't try to avoid getting our phone disconnected lol.  It would probably help if I didn't chat so much too.
