Got stood up yesterday...is this a common occurrence?? Highly rated provider sent me a confirmation email with place to park and apt. time etc.  Knocked and no answer.  Waited around 45 minutes...no answer. She doesn't give out her phone number until after 1st meeting. So I just left.  Got me wondering does this happen often??  I know there are emergency situations  sent email and no response so far. Ladies does this happen to you also?

For various reasons, this happens quite often, to both clients and providers.

Hopefully the email you sent her was polite, telling her you missed her and asking if everything is okay. Her answer (or lack thereof) should help you decide what to do next.

You might want to PM TER members who have reviewed her. I've done that a couple times after being stood up and was told that missed appointments were standard operating procedure for the lady in question.

Of course it happens; we are not the most important people in the provider's life. And you can damn well bet I would stand up even my ATF for my son! But I would somehow followup with her.

Yes,  I have clients call and say they want to come see me and then they do not show up or even call back saying something came up and could not make it. I think it is very rude.  If you can make the time to call to set it up, why cant you call and say I am sorry maybe another time or again the next day just call.

once upon a time....  I had a blind date (civilian) with a woman.  We arranged to meet in a local watering hole to get to know each other.  The time came, and went.  And yet, I stayed hoping to see her.  I ordered muchies and a couple of drinks, but after 2.5 hours, the hostess said that I should leave - so I did.  BUT!  in the town that i lived, there lurked a person who knifed gals to death in the parking lots of their apartment buildings, shopping centers and restaurants...  Well, you can see my worry!  

I called the cops and reported her missing.  Next AM, I called her contact number to see if she was alive....   She was.  She had stood me up, but was busy at that time cause she was in the process of 'splainin to 'da man.'

Moral of the story - gonna stand me up, that's ok, I'm a big fella and can handle the rejection but you should call.

If she is a well respected provider give her the benefit of the doubt. I almost missed an out of town appointment, my Phone/PDA went out - even stopped by a library to find the web to email (she had no phone listed). Luckily she called me for after I was late and she was cool about it. It's not like me, but how did she know? Could have been another flake. By the way.....it's the same provider, don't miss her.

As a provider, I have encountered that problem many of times and must say it is very upsetting for many reasons.  I give my potential clients my number, diretions, email, and they really have no excuse for not contacting me to let me know that they are not going to make it.  We spent a lot of time, energy, etc., getting ready for an appointment (at least I do) and drive to the meeting place just to sit there for another 1/2 hour or so, because I always arrive early, and waste my time.  If I could pass on one message to potential clients is that we also have a life and could possibly schedule something else, whether it's personal or business, to take the time to notify us in advance that they will not be able to make it.  I understand that things can come up and you gentlemen have a busy schedule, but it doesn't take but a moment to make a call or even sent an email.  Just remember that when you make an appointment with a provider, that we also have a life and would appreciate the same courtesy that most of us give to you.  Thanks for listening.  Didn't mean to drag this out, but this is really a thorn in my side and has been since I started in this business.  Hugs and Kisses, Angi

I have only ever been stood up once, by a young lady on our third meeting.

She had the courtesy to leave a message on my phone & though I was unable to contact her for over a day; in the end we worked it out.

The sweet irony is that she is now my ATF.

And the moral of the story is that communication is everything. Don't send her an abusive email, be polite, explain that you were worried about HER and ask if you might reschedule. She will, most likely, be grateful you have taken that attitude and will be nice to you when you finally do meet.
