Definition of White Knight?

Okay folks, I'm looking for clarification of the term "white knight" in the context of hobbying. I've gotten two distinct impressions, and I'm trying to figure out which one is more commonly accepted.

1) A hobbyist with a willingness or desire to step into a provider's business or personal life to right wrongs or save a lady in distress.

2) A hobbyist who is a generally good guy. He plays by the rules, respects the value of the lady's time and fulfills his end of the business deal without squabbling or hesitation. Not a "problem client".

So, which do you think is more accurate?

Thanks!

Personally, I tend to lean toward #2. I think providers would be extremely happy if all of us hobbyists followed that rule. It would make their lives a thousand times better. Hobbyists who opt for choice #1 shoud be very cautious and get all the facts before jumping into a situation, lest they wind up in a minefield covered by concertina wire. It could also lead to a personal involvement that could be difficult to extricate oneself from. But that's just my take on it.

I'm sure you are right on the perils of #1. The risks of it could fill up entire threads, which I'm not really trying to start. I have no desire to jump into that role.

I was just curious about what the perception was when the term was used.

I feel a White Knight is one that comes to save someone..
The valor, noble, errant chivalry and ,heraldry of the knight , his passage of arms ,paladin and the such are all very romantic, hot even:) But historically speaking it doesn't play out all that well IMHO.
The problem  as I see it is the young lady may or may not want or even need to be saved. The White Knight can easily become the white suppressor by implying his feelings, and beliefs of what he finds to be acceptable according to the laws predicated by his coat of arms if you will .We are not all cut from the same cloth. Have a great day , Kendall

I was thinking of the White Knights or supremacy . Oppressor? maybe :) , if you like *wink* Have a great day .Kendall

That is why I get so sick of men complaining about it. They've distorted the meaning to fit their own insecurities or rage. I am very good at standing up for myself, but occasionally it's nice that someone disagrees with someone who is being ignorant and rude.

Ciara

I have noticed many a white knight to actually be a shill...someone who favors this lady and trys to get attention for her...10 10 reviews for instance when you know this gentleman favors her.
He will post a review just to get her to the top of the new review list.

Many of these gentlemen are doing this without the lady asking or wanting this attention. It is almost like being a stalker!

One or two bad posts will not hurt any lady but a white knight can actually drag it on. Too much of a good thing or a bad subject matter is not good for anyone here. Best to move on !

I have seen "White Knight" used on these boards as a definite dump on someone who has taken what we who grew up in Brooklyn used to call a "goodie two shoes" approach to a discussion mainly for show to curry the favor of providers who might be reading.  Usually, the accused denies the charge vigorously.  I would think #2 just defines a good citizen. (In some of the most cynical circles, that last comment might draw an accusation of "White Knighthood" which I would deny vigorously.)

Number 1 is not a knight, but a damn fool.
Number 2 is Me. So there you have it.

About that knight bullshit, most folks that wear body armor are LE.

Racing to the defense of a provider (wanted or not) on these or other discussion boards no matter how lame, vapid, delusional, ill conceived, mercenary, self righteous, sanctimonious or plain stupid their promulgation.

and usually refers to someone who goes one step further from your number one definition and enters into battles on a ladies behalf uninvited usually in an attempt to curry favor with the ladies. They are annoying and usually travel in packs. lol

Number two, IMO actually does curry favor with the ladies and is what we should all aspire to.

Standing up "just" to be counted are the version of White Knight that I am referring to.

Again, standing up for what is right is a good thing, and I bet from what I know about you there are rewards for being a good guy. lol

You know I am bestowing my beliefs on a situation that may not be what others would feel.

This is a forum for all TER members. We engage in interesting conversations that reflect ones own particular belief with the understanding that others will reflect differently.

Otherwise this place would be so damn boring ;-)

The following definition fits the common perspective of a WK on various boards (including this one)

"and usually refers to someone who goes one step further from your number one definition and enters into battles on a ladies behalf uninvited usually in an attempt to curry favor with the ladies. They are annoying and usually travel in packs. lol"

It's used in derision because the attempt to curry favor with providers commonly involves disagreement with, or even verbal attacks on, other members

In fact it is someone who always defends the woman no matter what, typically because his little head has enjoyed the woman.  The "White Knight" refers to someone who "rescues" or "defends" the woman in all cases, because he feels that she is incapable of defending herself when those evil other men attack her.   When someone attacks their woman that they have enjoyed the responses are usually very truculent in nature.

#2 is merely a good person who most men should emulate, and the type of man that most women would want to see.

Men who are true White Knights only come to a ladies defense when she is being threatened, when someone is completely condescending to her making her appear less than intelligent, when a guy is taking cheap shots for his gain, and when he knows her -- or trusts her intuition -- and someone is intentionally trying to demean her character.

He does not always have to stand up for her when he disagrees with her and agrees with what a hobbyist has posted. No one likes to see someone belittled on a board. That's not a White Knight. That is just being courteous. I think a strong woman can defend herself, but friends(or decent people) who stand behind her show that they have good bones (whether they are men or women).  Hey! I guess I'm a White Knight, too. Why the gender reference? I'm good on a horse. :)

1. Will write a review and post on here even when he hasn't seen the lady yet. Believe it or not.
2. A White Knight will come on to the boards and out of the blue ask 'Has anyone seen?"...when he saw her yesterday
3. A White Knight will write a review every time he sees a particular lady.
4. A White Knight will send hate mail for his ATF
5. A White Knight almost always make a fool of himself
6. A White Knight will write you and tell you that he really wants to see you and tell you that all the other ladies in his city are crack whores and filthy.
7.. As you can tell my opinion of White Knights is not very positive.
8. And yes..White Knights will do all they can to worm their way into your life and take as much as they can for themselves.
9. It is my opinion that White Knights are not white or Knightful.
They shill and shill for their own selfish pleasure.
I have yet to meet a real White Knight

In fact I just googled White Knight
There are plenty of descriptions there but none that give true meaning to an Escort's White Knight.

I have always looked for a Knight in shining armour. You know those Cinderella type Princes that sweep you off your feet?
That is a White Knight in my opinion.
I think perhaps we can lay to rest The White Knight here in the hobby.
Let's replace him with a VIP member who plays by the rules and is open and friendly to all.

Gee whiz, I put (eom) meaning end of message.  Why are you reading this?

I wanted to see if you were for real or an alias

Checkmate

I loved your answer myself. I am sitting home with Pneumonia. When I googled White Knight I saw the chess piece definition so I did get my first smile of the day from you.
And then I figured even if I was sitting in my bed with pneumonia I could still put a smile on a HIS face.
So I went for it.
And then it got SEXYIER!!
Thank you very much

Again

A white knight is someone who dares to disagree with something another hobbyist says
