Seeing how well the last thread went, I might as well keep digging for China...
I've been at the hobby business now for over 5 years and as a newbie I was lucky enough thru sheer ignorance to have my first experience with one the top local providers in my area. I saw her with regularity for about a year and a half until she retired and to this day we still exchange emails and the occasional dinner date. I saw a few others during that time but she always remained my favorite.
Perhaps starting at the top has disillusioned me because since then very, very few have measured up. It wasn't that service wasn't what was advertised (there only were a couple that I could sense a contemptible disdain so palpable that I couldn't wait to get out of there) but there wasn't much there to make me want to repeat. In all that time I've seen about 40-50 different providers and out of that I've only repeated with maybe only a dozen and of that dozen only 2-3 that I seen more than 4-5 times (BSD you know who is one). What's in common? Intensity. They brought their A-game every single time. And I know an A-game when I see it.
The Russian strippers, they had their A-game on every single god damn minute. It has been a long time since someone pushed me that hard and gotten so much out of me.
Making people forget that these will always be the best of times and worst of times... Some observations on a somewhat different theme: It's funny to me how many new providers want you to pay them for the air they breathe and how many hobbyists demand more and more unsafe acts... We don't need your company as much as we might desire it... and if you allow us to push you into unsafe practices for want of a dollar or two, you are in the end the purveyor of all things that are wrong in the hobby... It's all getting out of control (sic) and all of us will be the lesser for it... The truth in any measure is but one person's optics at a point in time. There is perfection in chaos if you are willing to see it for what it is and like stereotypes they are never completely true, but they are completely shallow.
