..let's focus on more recent SF television shows.  Star Trek (Patrick Stewart and later incarnations) gave us the holodeck.  Heck, if I had a holodeck, I would be done!  Just forward my mail, and I'll be hanging in holodeck 6 for the rest of my life with a never-ending procession of hot chicks who know exactly what I want, almost before I know, myself.

I think technologies like this are already being developed as we speak.  Personally, I can't wait (sorry, ladies….).
