boards--
right? Not right? Do you think mods have undue influence over hobbyists' picks? Or how many would click through on a provider's website, etc?
I know mods aren't supposed to review girls, but it seems that a mod posting under a girl's ad, and saying "Hey, guys, this one's great!" might have virtually the same effect.
Opinions?
While mods are not allowed to review, and negative posts are not to be added to a provider's ad thread, by definition any comment is positive.
You are free to accept or reject that note, but I am not for silencing the mods.
was unaware that all a mod is is a user that gets to approve or remove posts.
Moderators are not experts over who is good and who isn't, their opinion should carry no more influence than that of anyone that posts.
It never ceases to amaze me how people mistakenly think of moderators as anything more than any other user...
I have actually heard of men and women looping moderators into embarrassing PM exchanges, once I even heard of a guy including a moderator into a PM with a lady about refunding some money where he shared his mailing and banking info...
WTF?!?
A moderator is just like the rest of the members of the boards, except for the ability to approve or remove posts and unmoderate people...
they aren't specifically affiliated with TER, they aren't pillars of honesty and veracity any more so than any other member of the site, and they shouldn't influence anyone that much...
Now, if they were specifically unmoderating ladies they liked or got favors from and specifically disallowing posts by ladies they didn't like or didn't get favors from then yes, that would be unfair influence (and time to lose not just his moderator position but his account), but just saying he liked this or that lady is only as unfair an advantage as the ignorance of the person that reads that post as far as his understanding of what the Hell a moderator is.
I am in the DC area and I do not believe the mods act in any way that influences anyone's choices. I suppose it might be different elsewhere.
As far as I am concerned, a mod is just someone with a lot of board presence. Not unlike other folks who are prolific posters.
IMO, you haven't asked a direct question. It sounds like maybe you think the mods are affecting your local board and don't want to say so???
on his/her opinion?
...indeed have an opinion, which I agreed with.
How about you douche? Do you have an opinion on the OP's post? You didn't mention it on your post. I also stated I think it's a sour grapes Provider or a WK of her’s, quite similar to you & your opinions that you post here.
Hope that clarifies everything for you.
However, I read from left to right, and from bottom to top, and I seldom read all the posts before I respond to the one I respond to.
I don't have time now, but when I do, I'll let you know my opinion.
hobbyist persona. They are still the same mongers as they were before and one of us.
I don't see a problem with them giving a thumbs up for any provider or making a favorable comment on their posts or ads.
Do they have more influence on hobbyist's picks? I suppose that would depend on who the reader is. Personally, I give them the same weight as any other experienced hobbyist. Nothing more, nothing less.
agreed.....personaly I wish there was more input from reviewers and Mods. It would be nice to get a heads up when a well reviewed lady comes into town. A true hobbyist will not simply run and see a lady just becuase a Mod or hobbyist commented on a thread. We might look a little deeper and read their reviews but I have NEVER simply seen a lady because of any one mans suggestion.
and this mod is commenting on numerous girls. I thought shilling is against the policies. I don't think I am wrong. Then again, do all mods follow the rules that we are suppose to follow. I highly doubt it. Do they push their weight around? Don't know, do they?
Maybe this mod is trying to get a freebie? Maybe this mod thinks he is better than anyone else for that matter.
Maybe this mod has allowed the moderator status to get to his head. I don't know.
I do agree though. I think it is unfair to all the other ladies out there.
If a mod is going overboard then I am sure the smart hobbyist (like myself) can see right through it.
Good topic though.
Reread the OP.
FYI see the definition of a shill post below.
Anyone commenting on a provider's thread is not considered shilling.
"A Shill Thread is a thread that is started with a post that is praise, thanks, or a recommendation for a certain provider for reasons of self-interest, personal benefit, or out of friendship or loyalty. Starting a new thread with a Shill Post is not allowed by TER because such threads are considered extra "advertising" above and beyond what each provider is allowed each week.
Shill Threads are not allowed, and will be removed.
Mini-Reviews posted according to the Posting Guidelines are not considered to be Shill Posts.
Responses to a current thread that refers to a provider with positive comments about that provider is okay, as long as the comment is pertinent to the topic at hand".
continues to make comments on the same girls all the time you don't think that is shilling.
Maybe not against the shill thread policies, but still is a shill and alot of people don't like it.
Here is the dictionaries explanation of a shill.
"a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty".
No I am not picking on you and you are correct.
Same person, same girls, all the time? I get your point and agree when it is done wholesale and constantly for the same provider/s/agency/s by the same hobbyist, it is a shill.
We are off track from the OP but on the same page.
and I have to confess, I have seen more than one mod over the years do exactly what you are talking about.
If it's shilling when a hobbyist does it, it's also shilling when done by a mod, and even more unseemly. I won't point any fingers at any other mod, either past or current, but I would have to agree that the behavior speaks for itself.
I have been a member for many yrs. I stay UTR most of the time. I have noticed a MOD giving
special favors to agency??????
But you can only talk about the ladies you have seen. Thus what appears to be shilling, is really just sharing of actual experiences. I personally would not state that anybody who I had not seen was a great time, because as a vet hobbyist (more so than a mod) your word does carry weight.
Conversely, if I didn't click with a provider, I will not say anything at all. Maybe it was me who was off my game and who am I to say something that could and negatively affect a ladies livelihood?
Now, if I am slighted by a lady or she did something that is considered wrong, I will also put it out there for information purposes as well as give her a chance to refute or clarify the circumstances.
Shilling, on this board anyway, is very clearly defined.
And who really cares? Lol.
Peace.
.
Smile.
Are you telling me that my opinion is of no more value than anybody else's?
I thought in addition to the high pay, company car, and access to the TER jet, that our opinions were deemed to be superior to those of any mere mortals, once we were annoited mods.
Damn, another illusion shattered. lol
Lets see.... to date you have 0 opinions posted. LOL
Hell even Liorr has 51 opinions to peruse. Guess I better get busy.
and as long as I am a moderator, you won't be seeing any reviews from me, but you will still get plenty of opinions whether you like them or not. lol
Have fun with liorrs reviews, you might be surprised, his reviews read quite differently than his posts.
I don't care much for it but i've done it. One mans spittle is no different than anothers.
Mods have steered me clear of disaster actually. Girls say that some reviewers/opinions have greater weight than others. I dunno.
Only matters if you are easily influenced in your decision making as to whom to see.
Don't remember seeing anything of the sorts.
A mod's position is simply to enforce the rules TER has set down. It's really a black and white thing. There is really no vehicle for influencing Hobbyists picks. As a matter of fact, it actually tempers what we can say on the boards. Instead of being our usual obnoxious selves, we have to act with at least a small amount of decorum.
All of the mods are very experinced hobbyists and if they have seen a girl who they have feedback on, they should be allowed to share it.
About the Freebie thing, that is a big no-no. I insist on paying full sticker on every transaction.
We're suppose to temper our obnoxious side? Oh fuck, now I find that out.
Many here probably think all I have is an "obnoxious side". lol
Though, I find it quite interesting that there has been surprisingly few comments or opinions from the gals. I wonder how one would interpret that?
