It has been several months (about3 or 4 I think) that microsoft vista has been out. I have heard that when new operating systems come out there are usualy a few bugs that are not found in the testing but come out in actual use.
are there any known bugs and has there been enough time to find them all and fix them all.
I am thinking of getting a new computer and they all now have vista so is it working well or should I wait a few more months for them to find and fix all the bugs.
Thank you
Check out the Mac, Vista is a rip-off of features Apple's OS has had for a while. Very stable, Consumer's Reports recent issue rates Apple products high on reliability, the only computer co., year after year.
not only that I can run almost any software in the world and I have choices as to what parts I can put in it. I am not saddled with MAC only crap.
The best argument I have ever been given for buying a MAC was that a 5 year old could run it. Well I am not a 5 year old and I want to have choices so I use a PC, Have for years and I am very happy with Vista and Office 2007!
One other note, they are still fixing issues on XP, (just as Apple releases patches on its operating systems) so what is the real difference between the two except one is the future and one is the past?
and - let's face it, viruses, trojans, and all sorts of other spyware tend to bother pc's a bit more than macs... or is that an urban myth? I really want to know.
there are so many more of them to do damage to.
But the other side of that is that there are more companies to chose your medicine from as well because there are so many more companies vying for the PC dollars.
Spyware and trojan horses can affect any system that accesses the internet. Surf Safe.

Picked up a dell 1210 with vista a few weeks ago & it's been fine...best machine I have. I did spend 3 hrs. on the phone with Justin in India trying to straighten out norton internet security but that wasn't vista's fault. Norton just doesn't have their shit together.
I agree with you. You play the number games. When there are more PC out there there will be larger report of infected computer versus the smaller market of Mac's which would report a smaller reports of infection.
to Compusa from whence it came.
Don't know if it was Vista or HP or the unholy combination, but I had it four weeks and it never ran well. It culminated with a total failure when, in the middle of an HP automatic update, it froze and could not be rebooted. Had a boot problem a couple of weeks earlier.
I didn't see much productivity gain in vista vs XP. Lots of software and drivers still are not compliant as well.
I now own my first Apple since 1981 and I doubt that I'll look back.
In the end, all PCs suck. We were stuck with them for a while, but now it is much easier to transfer files, etc.
Buying PC is like buying a tricked out car full of mods. Buying a Mac is more like buying a car that is all factory standard. The hotrod is never going to hang together no matter how good each piece of work is. Too many cooks. Not enough testing on the version YOU have. PCs are built on the wrong business model.
Mac OS X is better than Vista right now and Leopard comes out next month to make it a totally unfair comparison.
Should we mention that you can talk to a PERSON at Apple?
I feel bad yor you and your Vista machine.
and when I do, I have no trouble getting a PERSON on the phone to help and usually have replacement parts in 24-36 hours.
Are you a complete corporate shill for Apple? You are practically quoting their commercials!
Apples have just as many problems as any other major manufacturer, again the difference is that there are 100's of PC manufacturers that have problems and only one Apple. That's why it seems there are more problems.
I am sure you here about a lot of problems with Chevys, Buicks, GMCs, Saturns, Saabs, Hummer, Oldsmobile, and Pontiacs, and not nearly as many problems with Volkswagons.
Of course you don't! General Motors sells ten times as many cars under a number of names, that is why you hear about it more, not because of a significant difference in quality or capabilities.
It is a matter of scale.
1500$ hp laptop that froze alot, then went completely out 1 month after 2 years of use.
As for testing, that's what you're doing when you buy a Microsoft product - only you pay them for it!
Most 3rd party apps are still being tweaked to run on Vista so there are still plenty of driver and compatibility issues to contend with.
The general consensus is that if you have to buy a new pc now, you should get one w/ Vista. But if you have the option of waiting before buying a new pc (or upgrading your existing one), you should wait until they release a major SP for Vista and fix the initial bugs. This will take a year, not a few months.
Whenever I go into my Add/Remove programs in XP and see the boatload of fixpacks and service packs that I've had to download with XP, I realize that I am in NO HURRY to move to Vista and do it all over again.
Also, Vista doesn't have any major new capabilities over XP, so without any new "killer app(s)", Vista isn't much more than lipstick on a pig ![]()
Love the Mac, tolerate the PC. Have to use a PC laptop at work. Still use XP. Best solution, IMHO, is buy a Mac and if you really need windows install Parallels desktop and buy a copy of windows XP and you can run OS X an windows XP at the same time and both work great. Sorry, no experience with Vista.
My Dell XPS M1210 is great. Get as much RAM and speed as possible though, Vista is a bit of a pig.
I live in JOISEY ,what more do you want.
Thanks for the replies and info.
I think I will be checking out the dells.
Thank You
2007=27
they will save you a few bucks. The 1210 is a great machine. Sunny Bunny helped me configure mine & both the machine & the Lady are very fine!
