I posted this thread previously as a moderated newbie & got few responses; think it bears repeating.

Would think that Steely Dan is the fave group of providers & hobbyists because so much of their work is overtly sexual : their song "Here at the Western World" deals w/ a brothel; the song "I Got the News" deals w/ DATY ( " Spanish kissin', see it glisten " )& to top it off, the group is named after a dildo ( see Wm Burroughs "Naked Lunch" )

Can anyone out there cite any other "Dan" sexual references ?------or perhaps there's another musical individual or group that's even more sexually oriented, that might be a fave of TER posters.

I prefer instrumental music during my play time as I want to focus on my partner and the pleasures we are having and not the words in a song.  

My favorite is Dave Koz, that man sure knows how to blow...a saxaphone.  (Too bad he is gay)

I always have my music with me when I travel. I love Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern music. They're all very soothing and wonderful background for a nice massage. Even some drum music can be very sensual, if properly played.

In order of preference :

3. Can't buy a Thrill
4. 2 Against Nature

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of foreign music. I have one CD that plays a variety of wine country music (soft, good beat and seductive) from France, Bulgaria, Spain, Russia and Brazil (ooh la la). I love Brazilian music, especially the older Bosa Nova stuff.

Aja is also one of my favorites.  What was the album that came right after Aja?  It was very jazz influenced an one of my favorites. I believe I have a vinyl LP of that.

Van Morrison is a musical genius in my humble opinion.

My Old School:

"Janie Runaway" and "Cousin Dupree" are both about Lolita scenarios, much like "Everyone's Gone to the Movies."  

Haitian Divorce tells the story of a couple that are "so in love the preacher's face turned red," but they begin to fight and she goes to Haiti for a quickie divorce.  While down there she meets "the jolly with the lotion and the greasy hair...  The band was hot so, they danced the famous meringue..." But when she gets home, she makes up with her husband...but has a child.  And the last line is "Who's that kinky so-and-so?"

BUT - let's be fair to the Dan -- "Home at Last" is a retelling of The Odyssey, and "Don't Take Me Alive" can be read as a retelling of the Oedipus story.  And "Glamour Profession" is about dealing cocaine.

I've found what works well in sessions is to either let the men play what makes them feel good, standards, or even some mild ambient trance. Those always work well.

Les Nubians-- gorgeous beats, sensuous lyrics slipping from pearl lined throats, several languages threaded into this hypnotic wash of repeated ecstasy.  They're amazing.

And they have to be iPods too.  Not some other MP3 player.  Apple brand name loyalty must be observed during all of our penile insertions.  That tradition goes all the way back to Adam & Eve.  I reviewed Eve in my 101th review.  However having said all that, Burroughs did shoot his wife dead right between the eyes and got off Scott Free.  I'm not sure of the origin of the term "Scott Free," but I'm sensing a new Steely Dan song as I write this.

Touring at the Beacon 6 dates in June

A couple of guys who do dreamy trance pop and get some cool women to sing for them, like Sia Furler, Tina Dico, and a couple of others.  Their song "Home" alwaya makes me think of my ATF...the short trumpet solo kills me.  Just perfect placement.

Instrumental is much better.  You don't need someone else talking and taking up your headspace.

Man, I love TD.  Even though it isn't from their 74-76 heyday, the bit "Love on a Real Train" from the Risky Biz soundtrack is one of the sexiest bits of music I know.

Nothing like Zeit to take you to outer space, eh?

Their lyrics are too wry and have too much thought, references, and symbolism behind them to not "think about"...and that would be a distraction during lovemaking.

...our thread's originator NEVER suggested this group was good for listening to during sex or during a session.  (God knows the singer is sooooo damn ugly that if you envisioned him for only a split second, your woody would be gone in a second. LOL!!)  Only that it was a group that had many sexual undertones (many about prostitution) throughout their music.  I remember when he originally posted it, many did the same thing and jumped in w/ artists and/or styles of music that they prefer to listen to (presumably during sex).  A few people did get it this time around, so they get credit.  

As for the Dan, I couldn't stand them in the late 70's.  There was so much great music coming out, that whenever a SD song got played on the radio or on a jukebox, I got pissed because that was 5 minutes or so that I would have to endure b4 the next song (which would enevitably be by someone I liked) could come on.  However, once I realized how good their earlier stuff, like "Do It Again", was (and I got older), I really found an appreciation for them.  They are a big part of what made the 70's so damn great.  They have their own unique sound.  They were one of many great "incomparable" bands of the 70's.

I also posted about middle eastern music a few years ago while writing a seductive short essay about a detective and his mistress.

I really like music (instrumental) that sounds like I'm in India, with a Sitar playing in the background. There's a white canopied mosquito net around the bed. The windows are wide open and the curtains are gently swaying back and forth. The tile on the floor is smooth and cool and it's a hot, sultry day. Oy, don't get me started. I need to "say 'hello' to my little friend" now.

Usually, though, men enjoy what I'm already playing. However, one time I changed it to country. It's not my favorite but it was interesting, to say the least. "Getty up, cowboy." I had to spank that bronco a few times.

That is a perfect description and I really like that kind of music.

Much as I love Steely Dan - even with all the shit I get about it from all my punk rock friends - I don't have a favorite band.  And, frankly, the thing I like about their lyrics is NOT the overt sexuality.  I like how well they are written, how clever they usually are, and how funny they often are (most of what they are saying is VERY tongue in cheek).  But the real reason I like them is they have some of the best musicianship you are going to hear on a pop record.  Great songs, played by great players, with some of the best production ever committed to tape (or, for the new albums, hard drive).  The content of the songs are not even a small part of why I like them.


Oh, and I really mean it, I don't have a favorite band.  I don't believe in the concept.  I listen to music for how I feel right now, which is always changing.  But if you want my most influential bands, probably the Clash, Jeff Buckley, U. Utah Phillips (RIP, fellow worker - it's been a bad week for folk music), Steely Dan, and The Police.

and then let this thread go This is an absolutely stunning song with references to a reunion of lovers from a previous lifetime. It's on my favorite Van Morrison album No Guru No Method No Teacher.

their song "My Old School"  mentions "working girls" [how archaic] but they're in lockup in the county jail, and there's nothing especially sensuous or sensual about the reference.
