TER General Board

Now we have to have an opinion survey on provider board participation

You see a provider name which appears on multiple TER Discussion boards answering 10-40% of general questions.
Turn on or turn off?  Thoughts either way?

Don't project onto me; lodge the complaint with TER.

Maybe I feel this is a sensitive question?

Anyway:

Thoughts on heavy participation on the boards by providers?

I am not insecure so I love a challenge of my opinion but their is a risk for the provider.  A few month ago, an alias got flipped and a provider was exposed after saying some pretty unfortunate statements.  She ended up delisting herself and she had great reviews.  I know TER is not the end all but in a difficult economy I think it would hurt

I just don't share my thoughts with a ------alias, unless that alias is one that I recognize and have come to respect due to their posting history.

I feel sharing my thoughts and handle represent a significantly higher degree of transparency than you offer with your question, and hiding behind an alias, and I don't like the imbalance. I'm certain you will have no trouble finding someone to share their views with you, and, come to think of it, so am I.

Of all the threads on this board which involve and originate from aliases you chose this one as a platform?

Completely inappropriate considering that this potentially sensitive question is neither combative or trouble-for-the-sake of trouble.

I'm not interested in being rude to you or receiving other erudite explanations for your distaste for sharing your thoughts with a user's second fake name as apposed to their first fake name.  I too have personal rules about my board participation and one involves not patronizing other members.

Thank you & goodnight.

Interesting question. As a provider, just thought I'd throw my observations in there. Some girls just love to have their names all over the boards, thinking that it will get them attention, and maybe new business. And then there are other girls, who have no motives other than to give some advise if they think they can be helpful, share their thoughts, and truly love the hobby, what they do, and just generally like to be involved. A smart gentleman should be able to tell the difference. Many people, myself included, will often look up a persons posting history, as a way to get a better insight into a person we are interested in possibly spending time with. And it can tell you a lot, one way or the other. Positive or negative. Read the persons posts, and you can figure out whether they are just the attention seeking, nothing better to do type, or the genuine alternative.

I’m not a hobbyist, clearly. However, here is my take on the topic: I am thankful for some of the providers AND hobbyist who post often especially if they keep discussion going. I get bored easily and sometimes the boards are dreadfully dead. Hobbyists and providers who attempt to keep discussion going are appreciated by me (and possibly by some hobbyists). I can imagine some gentlemen feel a provider posting often is a turn off. Perhaps some feel the opposite. But, who cares?!?! (Thank you for entertaining my bluntness). Really though. There are so many things that may be considered a turn off to gents (e.g. certain body types, use of one long paragraph to express oneself, hair color, pubic hair or no pubic hair, etc). Realistically, we cannot keep track of them all. Anyway, I hope you get the answer you seek. By the way, there may be a gentleman right now who is turned off by my take on this topic or the sarcasm that reeks throughout my post (it's getting late and I cannot help it!)...I cannot please them all.  With all that said, JUST HAVE FUN! Post if you want, and when you don’t want to post because you have nothing to say, don’t post. Just have fun!

Happy Hobbying and Posting Everyone!

Xoxo,
Giamarie

BTW, in all honesty, you posed a great question. It got me to post and I was bored. So, thank you!

is sharing thoughts and experiences with bright and interesting people I would other wise not get to meet.  I have made friends and had personal meetings with some of the people here; I have certainly developed a feeling for many people I will never get to meet in person.  How nice to get the view of a woman who works as a provider along side that of a rich business man who is a client or of someone of limited financial resources and needs to think out his participation because of finances.

I have also recently peeked in at the TS board and gotten a view into a world about which I had only the vaguest notion.

I would hate to have anyone limited in his/her participation.

I do still have a problem with people who use aliases.  I don't really get that except when either a provider or a client wants to express an unpopular view that might impact negatively on the provider's business or the client's ability to see certain people.

If the posts contributed in some form, I would not discourage it, and it could be a turn on for me.
I like a smart ass provider at times too.
If it is done for the "hey look at me" effect, it can get annoying.
Now, if it is all drama different story. That can be a big turnoff. If the drama is primarily directed at hobbyists, you could be shooting yourself in the foot anyhow.
I enjoy posting on several boards, but I encourage the use of an alias. This way you can keep your dumb posts with an alias, and your good posts to your handle.
For the most part, my answer is turn on, or neutral. Turn off is much less.

so much so that in several instances I've gone out of my way to meet them... and have to say that consistantly, the ladies I have met in chat or PM or on the boards is well above those I've met by random chance...

A few are obvious, to anyone who has read my posts, but some?  not so much.

but why the alias?  this is a pretty innocent question.

They like to participate
They are not a wall flower
BTW
What do you think about the guys whose name appears on multiple...blah blaj blah blah blah

are you jealous?
Does she bug you?
Why do you care?
Do you wish it were you?
Is it you?
How did you end up with that percentage?
What is your name?
B L A N K or E M P T Y?

In case you didn't know, this is a discussion board.

Can you read the dotted line..or between the lines?
What's worse than a provider who shares herself with others on a discussion board, is an alias who can't find anything else to do besides complain about other providers.

Or should I go sit in the corner til my phone rings and mind my own business?
If not for us Providers...you would have no public forum discussion board OR hobby for that matter. This is a stupid question.  To answer it a bit though...it is annoying when a  dunbass alias asks a really stupid question.

The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose, technically,  you could say I  have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as
SantaFollowmeClaus
FatherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeOBGYN
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
FollowmeESQ
ChefFollowme
OldFollowmePhilosopher
DeepFollowmeKisser
to name just a few of my family (there are many others )
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real  members of the followme family.
To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves.

I hope this clears it all up

Thank you

If a lady participates on several boards, and is entertaining, or insightful, I don't have a problem with her posting a lot. In fact, several of the ladies I've seen over the past year and a half have been ladies who first got my attention with their board presence. The ladies who post on a regular basis give you a good look at what their personalities will be like if and when you do meet.

The only determinant for me as to how I feel about a person that posts is the content of their writing.  It makes no difference to me whether they are a provider or a hobbyist.

There are some providers that post on the boards frequently and I read just about every one of their messages.  Then there are the providers that don't often post, but I always click on their responses.  Famke Jensen is like that.  I don't know who she is or where she is, but I like that she appears to be intelligent, writes well, and has a an honest if sometimes blunt voice.  Likewise, there are some hobbyists that seem to have well written and insightful posts and I will read their posts as well.

On the other hand, there are some handles that I automatically ignore.  Rarely it is because of their particular views.  Mostly it is because I can't stand to read their writing either due to spelling, grammar, or paragraph structure.

I have noticed a few handles that have bursts of board participation such as you are alluding to.  Often, I find myself skipping their posts due to a saturation effect.

All I was hoping for from my question was feedback on the "saturation effect" as you call it.

I'm a little surprised at the angry, aggressive tone that a couple of providers took with the question.  The thread wasn't an affront to other providers who crop up everywhere, though some of you seemingly took it as such.

Thanks again dblhappy and others for their responses.

I did a little research and read your other posts on this board.

Your other post/problem, we understood and offered help.
Whether you took it or not, we offered.

This post might have been kinda confusing to some of us. The one provider that gave you a response that you liked...she came late in the ballgame.

Not knowing what your affront was, I said what I felt.

One thing I guess you could say, I was sticking up for providers who put themselves out there...10-40%  And another thing I respect about these providers..they are proud of who they are and not afraid to stand up with their ter "reviewed" alias and speak their minds

For me, TER is a community of men and ladies.  I have learned a lot from both over the years on these boards, and welcome all points of view and insight.  When I see a lady's name appear a lot on the boards, expecially when it appears as a response to a post and not an ad itself, I get the impression of a person who likes to be engaged--be an active member of the community.

For me, ladies active on the boards keep the conversation vibrant and varied.  Their posts also give me a chance to develop a better understanding of a lady's personality and likes and dislikes.  I have chosen to see or stear clear of a few ladies who have developed a presence on my local board because of their posts.  There are some ladies who I have never met, and may never meet, but whose opinions I have grown to respect and look forward to reading.

I'm sure I have made some enemies because my posts are a bit sarcastic to some, although it really is strictly humor for me and I love the banter. I also think more like a man sometimes, probably due to growing up primarily with boys and getting a feel for them (pun intended). However, I hope I have also responded to some threads with honesty and some resemblance of intelligence. ;)

I have met some really nice people on TER, whom have later turned out to be good friends and . . . all because I took the time to post some personal thoughts. God knows why! ;)

Hugs,
Ciara

We must be survey crazy society. There is survey for anything and everything with useless results.

Surveys talking heads to talk unfettered nonsense.

What next? Does dogs fart? Which breed farts more? How many farts a day?

Provider participation allows me to understand personalities allows me to choose who would like to see. Reviews by itself is not deterministic of anyones real personality. Writing style is.

would give a rats ass if you do or don't want to "share your thoughts" with someone. If you want to, DO IT!, If you don't, THEN DON'T. Either way, more power to you! We all have that right and should use it as we please.
However, to share your thoughts about not sharing your thoughts....
Get it? Either speak your mind about the question asked or STFU.
Don't turn the post into something else to suit your holier-than-thou-because-I-use-my-original-alias is just a joke. And you make yourself into the punchline.

I definitely thinks its a plus. It shows they're involved in the hobby and it shows they take it seriously, meaning they most likely follow all the rules. If I met a provider, and a week later her website was down and gone, I dunno, it would just bother me.

then I can understand it. Making a good impression and revealing some of you personality to secure bookings sound like a good way to go.

I wasn't aware that any ladies would think "OH, that hobbyist! He won't share his thoughts with an alias-user. Even more, he will reply and tell them that! That's the kind of gentleman I would like as a client!"

I thought references, hygiene, in-person behavior, and something else....uh.... OH! the MONEY.... is what usually gets a booking. I haven't been turned down yet, even for repeats, but it never hurts to have an ACE up your sleeve.
