Safety Tips for Sex Workers

Let me start by saying there are just times when no matter what a provider does, she can still be the object of an attacker. This should go without saying, but It is NEVER the victims fault. EVER.

So the best the ladies can do is to minimize the risk. Below is a list of tips to keep our lovely providers as safe from harm as we can get them.

Guys, you can help out by not joking about ever harming a SW and by looking out for them. You can do that by keeping anything they ever tell you, or anything you find out about them of a personal nature, in the strictest of confidences.

That said, here are the tips:

1. Never leave your handbag unattended. Lock it away or keep your personal I.D. in your car.

2. Never give your real name to a client.

3. Don’t let a client walk you to your car for he could gain access to your license plate and thus your personal info.

4. Screen, screen, screen. Every single client.

5. Park as close to the front door of the hotel as possible, and if not possible, park in an area that will be well lit at night.

6. When exiting the hotel, have your keys in your hand already, walk with speed and confidence to your car, get in the car as fast as you can and immediately lock the door when you are safely inside.

7. You may want to do this all the time but If you are in an area that makes you feel particularly uncomfortable, think about switching out from your heels to sneakers to make it easier to run from an attacker.

8. Try never to walk alone to your car, especially at night. See if you can get a hotel staff member to walk you to your vehicle or just keep an eye on you as you walk to it.

9. Avoid getting on your cell phone until you enter your car as you don’t want any distractions on your way to your vehicle.

10. If you are in a situation with a client where he seems to be threatening, or you see a sudden change in character, try and remain calm, speak to him complimentarily to try and diffuse the situation, but try to work into the convo at that moment that you always let a friend know exactly where you are at all times which may give him pause, but leave the room at your first chance.

11. If you are attacked, and you can't flee from him, fight with everything you have and scream at the top of your lungs. Hit the attacker in vulnerable areas like the eyes or groin and try and immediately to leave the room at your first opportunity.

12. Trust your instincts. If you get that “uh-oh” feeling inside, even if you don’t know why, DON’T ignore it. Many believe we have innate abilities to protect ourselves, but we ignore them for we don’t want to be rude. BE RUDE. He will get over it. It could save your life.

Lastly, we have many, wonderful, special SWs...but we have NONE to spare. :)

of value in my car, especially identification. So it can get stolen if your car gets broken into or stolen itself?

Most decent hotels I've been in have room safes.

but you missed the mark on both accounts and came off as being patronizing and condescending instead.

Do you REALLY think a bunch of grown ass women need the help of a client/john/trick to take care of themselves.

But I guess you did do a GREAT job of mansplaining things to all the hookers on this board. Maybe your next OP could be a lesson on "how to screen" for those hookers who are lost about how to run their business?

anything but respectful.

There may not be any providers "to spare" where you are, but in SoCal, if I see three hookers a week, I will still not get to see all of them in my remaining lifetime.

Since you like to share "rules",  I will share with you the first rule for Johns. . . . . . Don't try to tell a sex worker how to run her business.  Its insulting.

People can read it or not. The idea that "John's" can't tell "hookers" anything is pretty funny coming from this forum which pretty much does exactly that just about every day.
.
You guys are starting to sound too woke -- mansplaining? Please. Is there a testosterone shortage suddenly?

I don’t mind the criticism. I can handle it.

But you and I both noticed that none of the dissenters criticized what I said, only the fact that a man said it. That was quite telling to me. By implication at least, they found the tips to be well steeped in logic, for they didn't take anyone of the twelve points head on.

Personally, I don’t care where good ideas or tips emanate from. I never concern myself from what their race, or gender the person offering them up may be, nor do I ever concern myself with their height, or place of origin, or anything else outside of their control. I only consider the intelligence of the point(s) being made.

In other words, I judge comments on their own merits, not based on the group identity of the commentator. Some here may forget that women of all ages and experience levels may be reading these posts. Sure, many women here know about these tips, no doubt, and most likely practice them daily, but other, newer, less experienced SWs that may have just recently jumped into this line of work due to the economic difficulties that Covid has created, may not. One would think this place, or any internet chat board, is not monolithic.

I just thought with recent events, that some ladies may find my post informational, as they may be frightened and scared about Belle’s murder, and may be wondering how to tighten up their own security moving forward. That was my only intent, to possibly look out for the safety and welfare of others. Nothing more. Thank you for your post.

I think (believe it or not" that CDL said it best, telling a hooker/s how to run her business and that includes how to stay safe is INSULTING, and I could literally feel a hundred pairs of eyes rolling the moment they read your post.

As for the advice itself, it sounds like you copied and pasted most of it from some women's self defense class, some of it was actually BAD advice, and the rest of it was so basic that it was insulting to anyone reading it, not just the ladies.

The fucking point though, was that most providers find these kind of OPs highly insulting, and personally I don't blame them. I'd like to point out just how many ladies came out to thank you for your drivel.

are itching to post something sarcastic, but they don't want to turn off any potential customers.  I'll do it for them . . . . .

"Oh, thank you R.R., we didn't know ANY of this.  We girls are SO lucky to have a REAL MAN like you around to look after us and warn us about all the dumb stuff we shouldn't do."

(This should get a few "likes"  -  they are anonymous, ladies.   LOL)

might be better if there was an equivalent on safety for the guys.    of course its awful when something happens to one of our fine ladies ..   did you hear about the escort murdered by a client in Dallas.    not a TER girl though.

but for every girl that would read that TER post that has a bad john experience, there are 100 guys ripped off by random escorts.     its even happened to me and a number of other experienced TER gentleman.     i would expect most of the ladies sharp enough to be on this site are far sharper than you imagine.

If you are stupid enough to get busted, quit this hobby and take up finger-painting.  Its simple and you can't really hurt yourself because you're using your fingers instead of a long pointed brush that could put your eye out.

Twice you've invoked "mansplaiing."  I'm afraid you'll have to surrender your man card.  That sort of taint is hard to erase from your reputation.

Finger painting and hookers, perhaps you are onto something.  To hell with Nuru massage, let's finger paint!

Of course calling out YOUR stupidity would be a full time job.

Actually I am kind of surprised that you are on RR's side here. Condescending and patronizing is not really your style. Obtuse and stupid are more your claims to fame.

"That Lester is a really smart guy" are words you will NEVER hear except in jest. lol

After adopting "mansplaining" as a thing, you'll be calling yourself a non-birthing person.
