Star ratings are about amenities. You can have a higher star hotel that's not managed well and a lower star one that is. Most reviews on places like booking sites (Priceline, Expedia, Booking.com, etc...) or Tripadvisor have reviews and even break it up into categories, including cleanliness. I always check these before booking a hotel. That said, it's not often you will find a motel6, Super8, Econo Lodge, or something in the super cheap category that is as clean as the better brand hotels. I agree, don't book cheap to save a few bucks. But also don't assume because it has more stars and/or cost more that it's a good clean hotel. Always check reviews.
I'm not going to lie I used to be a bougie, and only utilized only 4 & 5 star hotels. Now, I have no problem enjoying 2 & 3 stars because of the free parking perks sometimes offered. Paying to park can be the pits, especially if someone wants to go unnoticed by avoiding valet.
Because I only entertain usually only one person on any given day I ask my clients to pick the hotel of their choice. The majority don't care about high end hotels. Easy access, and convenience is key. I am curious what your opinion is on hotels. Obviously, I am not trying to stay the night at any sleezy motels, but I have had fun utilizing some very reasonable rates on Dayuse for a quick hour booking.
Don't get me wrong I do love a nice hotel suite that comes with club level accommodations, but it's definitely not necessary for every booking. My question is do you expect five, or four star hotels? I don't. I no longer have any requirements besides not being in a bad neighborhood. Safety & security is a priority.
Here's an interesting tale:
There was a gal I used to see, and it was an in-call situation where I would get the room for us. So, to be Mr. Big-shot, I got a nice 4 star hotel. The gal told me later that she felt somewhat inhibited being in such a nice place, and asked me to switch to a Motel 6 as she would feel at home there. Next time I got a Motel 6 and sure enough, she was much more relaxed and fun to be with. She liked that fact that she could scream out and no one would care; and she was right.
My usual go to is a 3 star like Marriott Courtyard, or Hilton Garden Inn.
with the local cockroaches? Lol
Next time I'm in Boston should I check out of my 4+ level hotel with the beyond comfortable beds and stellar views from my windows, and see you at a Holiday Inn Express, (jk)?

(You know what I'm talking about ;o)
But it's not a dump like Motel 6!

Waste of money.
Nice, solid hotel that's clean and hopefully has a friendly staff. Reasonable rates and no key card required to run the elevators.
Room is clean, no sign of bed bugs, shower has good pressure, and the drain doesn't back up? Where do I sign?
Not everyone realizes it, but ratings are based what a hotel offers. They can have low ratings and be clean and in a safe area. They can have higher ratings and not be the cleanest and in unsafe areas. Here's the breakdown:
1-star - Basic no-frills. They are budget friendly and offer the least amount of amenities and services. Some services may be offered at an extra charge, not they don't count towards the stars because they cost more.
2-star - A slight bump up from 1-star. They have limited amenities and services, but more than 1-star.
3-star - These have a broader range of amenities. Rooms are well-equipped.
4-star - These hotels offer a wide array of high-quality amenities. They put more attention on service and details.
5-star - This is the luxury option with the most amenities and top service.
Amenities/services can include, brands for toiletries, bedding, towels, coffee machine/coffees, robes/slippers, daily newspapers, micro fridge, in-room snacks/drinks, etc... Use of technology for things such as lighting, TV/streaming, climate control, mobile-apps, built in USB outlets, strength of wifi, etc... Also, what there may be outside of the rooms, such as pools/hot tubs, gyms, restaurants, food service (room, poolside), gaming room, onsite laundry/dry cleaning service, bell-hop service, get a car/taxi service, etc... A 1-star will have almost none of these. A 5-star will have many of them. And, the other stars are everything in between.
That all said, a clean hotel/room and a safe neighborhood is more important. Perhaps if it's an extended date, the stars will matter more. But a 1-2 hour romp session, and most of the perks become somewhat meaningless for the person visiting for the romp. It matters more to the person who is actually staying there.
Yes, I try to book 4-star hotels whenever possible. I used to avoid 3-star or lower all together. But being based in New York, I'd have to require an additional fee if I wasn't open to reserving rooms in hotels that weren't 4+ stars.
What matters to me as much as or more than the star rating is the guest rating. Trip Advisor and Hotels.com have great filters and subcategories like location and cleanliness for the guest ratings.
Generally, I think it's understood that the caliber of hotel one hosts in is commensurate with the overall brand. So I'd obviously never see a friend in a Motel 6. But if someone has an unwavering need to only fuck at St. Regis level hotels, he can go ahead and book it himself. ![]()
Its hard to beat a clean well run 3 star in a good location.
Perception is projection.
A Provider markets oneself as "high-end",
requiring remunerations as such...
Imho,. having one's incall locale at a
"Motel 6" would scream "low-budget";
inconsistent with the "quiet luxury" of a
4++ 0r 5-star Hotel.
Significant security and safety is also paramount within luxury accomodations....
"free parking"; not so much.
I don’t know how practical this is but I recently had visits at two completely extended stay (mainstream chain) hotels and those were great.
By design you don’t go through a registration “gauntlet” and the whole vibe was very low key - in one case there was an entry that was on the back of the building, so very discreet. At night it would probably require a key of course. I imagine if a provider had a nonstop stream of visitors, it might draw some attention but assume that wouldn’t be the case.
I was just going to mention this as I used to use Extended Stays in the beginning of my career in the hobby and they were awesome. I never thought about it before but I started at a massage parlor and became friends with one of the established ladies there and one day she said something seems off here lets pack up and go. Thank goodness we did because it got raided the next day. And she suggested getting a room at the Extended Stay just be discreet and it worked out perfect. Like you said the doors unlock at 6am so you could have a client as early as that and they lock at 10pm so if you had a later appointment they could still leave after without any issues and there is usually only one person working the front at that time or doing laundry so there is never any issues with people coming or going.
They have the regular size fridge and stove for you to cook a meal to enjoy, set up like a cute little studio and easy access to stairs and elevators no key and staff never bothered you. I would bring my own set of towels, sheets and pillows, candles for some great ambiance and then stop by the grocery to pick up a few items for the next couple of days and once my last appointment was done for the day, I'd head home, but would still have the room for at least a couple days so I could see my clients and then take a break for a while and not have to worry about any issues at all. And I would switch up locations to accommodate the clients for that day [downtown, Biltmore, Phoenix, etc] and it worked out perfect and my clients loved it.
If it’s just to meet for the deed no. If it’s an overnight or days..then yes I prefer nicer.
Where the young lady host sets the tone for me, I’m not doing the Budget Inn or some Motel 6. Het incall ,be it a hotel or apartment atmosphere plays into my mind. I need that part of the experience to be top notch.
Even when I travel and do outcall, my hotel is 5 star. It’s one of life’s pleasures that I enjoy.
Gotta smell the roses and drink the wine
I knew you were a classy gentleman!
I agree wholeheartedly;
The ambiance is everything from the moment
you set foot onto a 5-star marble foyer, as a
subtle, though heady fragrance wafts through
the air.
I believe it's some sort of subliminal, olfactory
aphrodisiac... which immediately excites me
of the forthcoming rendezvous, which shall commence upon 1200 thread-count Egyptian
sheets!
Last couple years I have started letting guys know I am at a hotel and I ask if that is ok because some guys won’t go to hotels only apts or homes. So I had this guy ask what hotel because he was not going some crappy hotel he stated. I had to laugh because I was in a Marriott at the time. Now to give some context here I was doing some market research and had posted on Mega which puts you also on Several sites. I was advertising my lowest massage at $250 for 40 min only. And other days putting my whole set of services to test what got traction. So what made this funny about this guy asking what hotel on the particular site is that if he is not looking for a lady not in a crappy hotel he is looking on the wrong site, as most those ladies on there are in 1 star or even cars. And while this guy mentioned the hotel he in the next sentence asked for $150 fs. Which made me roll eyes for two reasons one obviously you are not getting low end with in a nice hotel and 2 trying negotiate instead of reading ad. Guys you can’t have both low end and a nice hotel. I prefer to stay where there is no bed bugs or roaches. Low crime and low possibility of getting caught. Just like the commercial says “ It matters where you stay “
I will refrain from posting on that site from now on unless it’s a new city then I will try it. No shade to either side who uses it. You just get what you pay for.
I don't need fancy as long as it's reasonably nice, clean and in a good area.
Marriott, Westin, Embassy Suites, Courtyard, etc are all fine with me and I've found the extended stays to be fine as well.
now that i have your attention .. there has been an epidemic of bedbugs in the USA. especially lower priced hotels. so while one doesn't need to meet at the Ritz .. i would avoid budget independent and even motel6 locations .. A Best Western or Courtyard or Fairfield are good budget solutions and those places are monitored to maintain cleanliness and quality.
i value my health over saving $50
