I'm not SAYING that it relates to the post directly above this, but for some reason the thought popped into my head again.
What's with the score inflation on TER these days? I come here to get some guidance from others about providers. But you can't trust the feedback that ppl give.
I just saw a provider who averaged an 8.3 on looks, with over 30 reviews. You'd think that you could rely on numbers like that. She shows up and I gotta say, most of her clients have to be blind, hallucinating or just have some desperately low standards.
For a girl to rate an 8, she should be pretty damn hot. For a 9 she better be a knock-out and a 10 should be saved for Angelina Jolie of 10 years ago.
The girl I saw was not an 8, or 7, or even a 6. Her breasts were not pert, they were droopy. Her ass was small, but soft and flabby. Her face was ok at best. And yet nearly 30 reviewers gave her an 8 or above. What the hell?
I know it's subjective, but not that subjective. I can't believe that a silent majority of hobbyists are secretly into ugly chicks. It calls into question the whole reason for this site. You can't trust the reviews.
How can you blame the reviewers? Did you not check her website for pictures? You claim the provider was ugly.
My friend you must take some blame here as well apparently you didn't look at her pictures before seeing her. And just because shes ugly too you doesn't mean the other 30 guys didn't find her attractive.

As the OP has found out the hard way, numerical ratings mean next to nothing in many cases, the most important thing on the review as far as looks are concerned is the "are the pics real?", then you can make your own determination as to whether or not she is attractive to you.
First of all, the entire point of TER is for hobbyists to rely on each others opinions, in other words "the opinions of strangers." So you just invalidated the reason for this site.
Second, pictures lie. Often the pics aren't of the actual girl, and even when they are they can be manipulated by photoshop, clever lighting and angles, often don't show the face ect... Thus the reason for TER, where we are supposed to be able to rely on "the opinions of strangers" to tell us like it really is.
In this particular case, the pics I saw were of the actual girl, but didn't give a real sense of her. She wasn't naked, so I couldn't see the droopy tits, and you can't tell things like muscle tone from a pic. She was skinny, which showed in the pics, but all flab. Some of the reviews described her body as "tight" and said she had a "great ass". However she has obviously never been inside a gym in her life.
I know it's subjective, but only to a certain degree. How many of you all are really into droopy, saggy tits? Come on, fess up. Let's hear it for the droop!
Just remember you are the one having a problem, the rest of us have already figured out.
There are two fields in re to pics one asks "real photo", the other "photo accurate". The systyem is not perfect and there is nothing that can be done if thirty guys before you lie, but in my experience it's the best way to discern between a true 9 or 10 and one who just seems to get those scores for no good reason.

I was just pointing out that in your first post you said that I only have myself to blame for relying on the opinions of strangers. It's a strange position to take on a site founded and dedicated to the concept that the opinions of strangers will help inject some sanity and predictability into a chaotic industry.
At least we agree on one thing. Nothing you can do if thirty guys before you lie. I'm not really mad at the provider in this situation. I'm more pissed at the thirty guys who seem to think that they'll get a freebie for kissing her ass online. Either that or they have never actually seen or been with an attractive woman.

TER by neccessity entails relying on the opinions of others, but numerical ratings have proven virtually useless to those of us who actually have standards. On that I think we agree.
TER is not a perfect system, and there is nothing that can be done if no one will ever take a stand against assholes who have no taste. This has been an uphill battle that many of us have been fighting for years, and I don't see any solution in sight. That said TER is still the best out there, the best you can do is only take the word of guys you know and trust, and insist on accurate pics sans blurring and photoshopping.
If we would all take a pass on those that don't meet our standards, maybe the women who make a living by deceit would either go away or change their ways, yes wishful thinking I know. We can only vote with our wallets.

I dont mind a little droop just not saggy flabby tits but one thing about the appearance it varies. I like spinners but found a thicky thick provider that I seem to be leaning toward checking out. "Stranger" are what we all are. I thoroughly investigate a provider before taking the plunge. Cant afford not to. Also I do not write a review for the first visit and at times the second either unless I have an unusual encounter. You heard for a Little droop lover.
I try to be as honest as I can in my reviews and not let emotion get into it. Right now I'm holding off on writing a review because I really like the lady and she really tried.... but her pictures are a fucking lie. She's straight up butt ugly with a frakenstien monster of a boob job, and yet she constantly get's high appearance marks. So because I personally like her I won't post the truth... Until I can find the right way to word things so that the 4 I'm going to give her won't sting so bad.
I'm not the greatest looking dude in the world so maybe some people would say I don't have the right to complain, but I'm paying for a service and the company of a beautiful woman. That might be subjective but showing me a picture of the woman you were 10 years ago is Just plain wrong. I've given out exactly two 10's on appearance. But since it's purely on looks it raises this question: If she's listed on TER, there was a web site or an ad where you could have checked her pictures. If you did that and she was not at all like her pix you could have just said, "sorry" and left. Why didn't you? Looking at the 3 reveiws you have already, your appearance scores are in the range of the other reviewers for those three escorts, so the problem is not that wide spread.
I don't disagree that there is some grade inflation. I pretty much know that if a gal has a lot of 7s, then she is going to be much more a girl-next-door type of person than a cover girl model.

In this case that's true. I truly believe reviews can only reveal accuracy of photos, level of professionalism discretion given, accommodation provided, and the quality of service, which varies. You really can't gage what kind of experience you'll have based upon someone else's. All you can do is make an informed decision based upon what you see, the level of communication and chemistry you have with your potential date prior. Having a 5-10 min chat may reveal exactly what you're trying to avoid or fancy in a companion Regardless if it's 1 hr or greater you want it to work out, right?

well, first it was in my hotel room. Nowhere to walk to.
Second, she was naked by the time I could properly evaluate the situation. She looked ok in her clothes. And by that time, I was in the buff as well. Walking would have been awkward at that point.

You sound to me as if you are very particular about what you want. More than most. Angelina Jolie? Not for me. I wouldn't see her. I agree with previous posters, check out the pics. Ratings are TRULY in the eye of the beholder.
Some ladies "bribe" guys for really great reviews or guys write reviews for ladies in advance for "special services."
But this is all talk. I have no proof.
There are lots of reasons for inflated scores. Some that are due to "her" and some that are due to "him".
Ladies want to protect their standings, among other things. Ratings equals demand, which equals income.
Guys want references, whitelistings, free VIP days (from fake reviews), etc. No referrals makes it hard to get "more"... Bad scores on fake reviews makes them likely to be challenged.
Hell, you can't even go by the photos, and the "Are photos real?" in her profile. Most likely that was set by the first reviewer 20 years ago when the photos were first taken (for some ladies). Wanna have fun? Save the photos from the sites of ladies that have been around a while and check the (EXIF) detailed properties of the photo to see when it was taken.
That said, there are still some great ladies out there. It pays to develop relationships with other reviewers that see similar ladies as you are interested in. Maybe you can get some good 411 on the down low. Even without "extra info sources" I'd say that I have had pretty good experiences and less than 10% have been less than what I would characterize as a good to great experience, and most of those have been more of a chemistry thing.
It pays to go in with your eyes open and realistic expectations (and I do not mean settling for sub-par).

Really, when selecting a potential partner, I read her web site, her ads, her complete reviews & pictures. There may be some inflation in looks... performance tops all & if she performs exceptionally, that does make her look better post coitus.
But doing proper research is your responsibility & mine. I don't like the number scores at all... I've yet to meet a provider who I didn't consider "attractive"... there were probably some I chose not to meet because their look didn't appeal to me... after I looked at her pictures. I have been pleasantly surprised that a few ladies were simply stunning & looked better than their pictures. If the pictures are fuzzy, too small, locked, or not a variety of views... I just pass.

There are threads going back to 2001 citing the same inconsistencies, and flaw in the system. Although alternative, and objective scoring concepts have been repeatedly recommended by the membership TER has remained steadfast to a wholly subjective and infinitely corruptible standard.
Get your ass to the closest one to where you hobby. You can see for yourself what the lady looks like and even talk to her if you so wish.

I just form friendships of sorts with a few local hobbyists that I think booked a session with about every lady in the greater Salt Lake area. In return I share what I know. Works better then reviews, but likely not as well as a meet & greet, although, I wouldn't know as I would be to scared to go to a meet & greet in Utah.
You know these things happen. One man's garbage is another man's treasure. Sorry that she didn't meet your expectations--- but frankly we all know that that is a risk of this hobby. Question: did you walk out or refuse the appointment? If not then you were kinda complicit in the disappointment. IMHO TER still provides a great service, but there are no guarantees. Anyway better luck next time

I agree that there is score inflation for many reasons that other people have already mentioned. But another sometimes-noted reason for an inflated Appearance score is due to a particularly excellent Performance. We humans naturally have trouble separating the two - especially in retrospect. So the 6 who rocks your socks suddenly becomes an 8. It's understandable.
Likewise, the smoking hot Mediterranean model whose Performance is just Average may still manage to pull 8+ in Performance, because she's a 10 in Appearance.
And conversely, the genuinely hot chick whose Performance is downright poor may get an unfairly deflated Appearance score.
Another cause of inflation that I'm noticing is price. Once again, it is human nature to perceive higher value in higher price, and (although many higher-priced girls genuinely deserve their ratings) I've observed a slight bias toward undeserved higher scores among higher-priced escorts (especially PSEs). Sadly, there also seems to be a slight bias toward undeservedly low scores and short, dismissively-worded reviews among lower-priced escorts who actually deserve better.
So, at the end of the day, I try to take a holistic view of the entire profile, keeping human nature in mind, as well as keeping an awareness of how my own tastes differ from the majority in some areas. I am especially skeptical of the reviews on higher-priced escorts, and likewise more open-minded and less number-oriented when looking at the less-expensive escorts. And I recognize that a lady who provides an especially nice experience probably has a very slightly inflated Appearance score.
Yup, 30 reviewers are all FOS and blind. You sir, are the one and only one who can accurately rate a woman's looks.

That doesnt mean you are wrong of course. Your tastes are your own. But if 30+ men are all in agreement on something, and yours is the lone voice of dissent, its pretty tough to make a case that they are all wrong and you are the only one who is right.
Sounds like perhaps you need to adjust your expectations accordingly and anticipate that a lady who rates a consistent average of 8's is likely to leave you less than impressed.
And as far as rating inflation goes, ever visit one of those "hot or not" sites where people rate pics of women? After thumbing through a few of them, I have doubt that not only does the average TER review NOT inflate ratings, most ratings are lower than they might otherwise be. Go through one of those sites and you will see dozens upon dozens of barely average, and even downright ugly women being rated as 8's and 9's. If those photos belonged to providers being reviewed here, they would undoubtedly have scores in the 6 or below range.
They are more inflated than I would rate them but not more then a more typical TER member would give them. But what would I know? I am just a man that sees providers and reads TER reviews.
You have found out the truth about the appearance ratings here at TER the same way we all did. We did our homework, picked a well-reviewed provider with many reviews from reliable members, and then we found out that she wasn't as hot as her scores would indicate. We of course then thought that it was a bit of a fluke.
Repeat above scenario and ... same result.
Repeat again ... nearly same result.
At this point, we started re-evaluating our methodology and started getting a little more critical of every little word in the reviews and every possible flaw (or hidden flaw) in the photos. Then, for good measure, we learned to read the lowest scored reviews first and to assume that the lady is a notch down from the average of the lower scores.
Did I mention to add years to her age and pounds to her mid-section? Also, if she uses glamor photos, knock another point off. Does she never show certain areas of her body, deduct a point or so for that as well.
Finally, the real key is to become familiar enough with other reviewers in your area. Perhaps one or two of them seem to score realistically and they have similar taste in ladies as you. After this discovery, you can start relying on their ratings more so than any other criteria.
In the end, you will start to find those few providers that really do meet your personal expectations of 8, 9, or possibly even a 10 in looks. They are out there, but as with any bell-curve distribution, they are rare to nearly one-in-a-million.
Would it be much easier if so many guys didn't give out an 8 or a 9 to anything that breathes? Yes.
Would it be much easier if providers were more honest in their descriptions and photos? Yes.
Would it be really great if reviewers didn't have to worry about the wrath of a woman "scored realistically" who also happens to have their screening info? Big 10-4!
Are any of these things going to change? Nope.
Final thought. TER would be much more reliable and valuable as a tool for finding the right provider if they would change the way provider profiles are shown. There should be some kind of system of showing exactly how many guys thought her photos were "real" and "accurate". There should be a more nuanced description for the "build" field. Lots of things that have been repeatedly suggested and never implemented.
What are you going to do. TER is still better than nothing. Just learn to use it realistically.
as I stated above. One of the things I look for is inconsistant looks... What does not show in the pictures. I figure that there's a reason certain areas are not visible. All good providers know the photos are an important part of their marketing... If they feel they must display deceptive pictures, they know the deception. In the reading of the available data, I look for hints that the photos are not current. This is a reason that it is recommended that Newbies see well reviewed providers.

It is just that in the real world, your eyes will not fool you as much as your mind will fool you in here in preparation to meet with your "date" If you make up your mind based on others scoring, then your mind will fool you more. If you build your anticipation factor based upon some glamor shots and photos that can be several years old (if you are lucky enough to see their visage) then you are also building yourself up for some disappointment. Really no difference than meeting someone over match.com other than the fact that you are not forking over an average of $$-$$$$ and can walk away from a blind civvie date with less damage if you keep the stupidity factor on the low side.
I am guilty of giving lots of 9s and 10s and believe me, I know what 9s and 10s look like! First of all, take all look based scores with a handful of salt and shave off 2-3 points' specially when you factor in the sexual after-glow and the bragging rights. The other thing is that if you use TER as your main hobby conduit and as a beginner consistently score women to a more realistic 6-7 points out of 10 point grid, you better prepare yourself to be cock-blocked by yourself!
